If you've been to old school Korean places in locations like K Town in Los Angeles or Federal Way in Seattle, you will know what to expect here: rundown interior, OK service and average eats. All of the Korean usuals are on the menu but with the common less flavorful approach that London is famous for. Don't come in here expecting a suprisingly delicious meal that you might find in a hole-in-the-wall in Seoul or NYC. We ordered a variety of meats here and when we asked one of the servers to change the grill like you might expect at most decent Korean restraunts she looked at us like we were aliens from another planet and went to go confirm with someone else about the request.

As an expat from the States, I was wildly surprised to find an H-Mart in London. Wildly surprised…read morebut pleasantly relieved - I mean, where else can I buy good quality udon, kim chee, noodle mixes, frozen dumplings, super thin sliced beef/pork for hotpot and fresh shiitake for a good price? I know Japan Centre has similar quality but the price point is not always right. Chinatown is good for some things (fresh veggies, fresh rice noodle rolls, ramen, etc.) but it's hard to beat the selection at H-Mart. There is good lighting and sufficient aisle space so carts going in opposite directions don't have to awkwardly back out of the aisle so the opposing cart can go first (kind of like the naughty London roads!) - in most grocery stores in Chinatown, you are elbow to elbow with someone else trying to get a damn jar of Hoisin sauce in your overflowing basket. Customer service is lacking, especially when something is out of stock and no one in the store seems to know what is going on or when they will get more. Aside from the cashiers, most people working the floor do not speak English very well. The employees are mainly Korean and Chinese. However, most items are translated to English on labels and signage. I will continue to shop here for quality groceries and I hope they open more locations so that it is easily assessable to more people in London.

Oh, and it is a drive-thru one, just off the A3, and it's open 7am-midnight! Woowee. I have never driven-thru, always fancied sitting in one of their cosy booths and contemplating which doughnuts to take home with me for later. This is always a good way to finish off a night! I normally leave feeling a bit sick, but it's my own fault, not Krispy Kremes.

There is a fairly comprehensive produce section, and a reasonable meat section. Again, there aren't any counters, however the fresh meat and deli section is reasonable. There is a car park behind this Tesco, however, it is pay and display, regardless of whether you buy anything in Tesco. All in all, a good small supermarket.

My favourite is the Salami and Brie baguette followed by a warmed up quiche. Easy to get hooked.
