We decided to pay a visit to our nearest A&W Brew Bar and see what the hype was about. The cups get filled at this special dispenser where you can see on the screen, what percentage of the cup has been filled. This was kind of fun to watch. Here's what we ordered: Frozen A&W Root Beer A&W Root Beer Sweet Cream Shake A&W Root Beer Mocha Shake There's no denying that A&W makes very good root beer, so any kind of beverage with their root beer in it is bound to be tasty. All 3 of our drinks were yummy; the Root Beer Mocha Shake was the most unique. While the drinks were tasty, it really felt like an overrated experience that really didn't merit the price tag attached to it. These were basically glorified Slushy drinks. Again, nothing wrong with the drinks. They were all tasty. But to us...considering how much they charged for the drinks, it didn't seem like very good value to us. There are always a lot of people. It is best to just use the phone app to order or you'll be waiting forever, especially if using the counter. That said, getting the food is pretty quick, especially considering the amount of people. There's quite a bit of seating available, but they're usually filled up with people. It takes some time to find an open table. The quality at this location is pretty good. I usually get ice coffee with varied amounts of cream and sugar and this one gets it right most of the time. The staff are pretty nice even when stressed out. Sometimes when there are good Happy Meal toys, I ask them which toy they have, and they're always happy to answer.

The staff lady at the metrotown location was giving a snarky tone when teaching me how to use the app on my phone. She then sighed when she took my order. She definitely gave strong vibes that she didn't want to be there. Other McDonald's I've been to just lets the customer show the coupon number shown on the app to the cashier which is way easier. I ordered a big mac. I'm pretty sure they added a little too much seasoning because it's more salty than I'm used to. I eat at least 3 or 4 big macs every month so i know how a big mac should taste. It was still edible though because I don't mind a little more salt anyways. It was just not what I'm used to. One positive is that the dining area was very clean because every table was spotless. Staff were diligently wiping tables and cleaning garbage. 3 out of 5 stars based on this visit. But they really should change out the extra salty burgers and cranky cashiers.

During the daytime it feels a bit safer. At any time of day the place is pretty loud. Service is quite slow, especially around meal times when there are alot of people. Expect to wait almost 10 minutes for an order. For some reason the drinks take the longest. I once waited 15 minutes just for them to pour an apple juice. This time my food was pretty abysmal. I got 2 orders of fries and both were barely even warm and were pretty soggy. My ice coffee was also not sweet at all even though I asked for extra Splenda. It seems that now you have to always ask for ketchup with the order instead of them just giving you some. A bag for takeout also costs additional fees. Food is about the same as every other McDonalds. Meals are pretty expensive now even with the McDonalds app - regular-size meals start at around $10 before tax when on sale. The $5 McValue meals are pretty worth it though. The pies are pretty good value at 2 for just over $2.

This location has drive through service; therefore was a default choice on Kingsway, when in need of a quick bite or an iced drink on hot days. Yet, out of our four drive thru visits, only one order was correct...25% accuracy rate is not high! And to rub salt on wounds, that one correct order only had two items: an ice cream sundae and an iced coffee. Note to self: take time to check all items are in bag before driving off. Actually, I like their staff and find them overall friendly but this location's order accuracy has gone haywire and operations are not organized, especially when busy. I have tried twice to order from counter but the service was even more slow and on both occasions, I can see angry customers at the counter, commenting on wrong food, slow service and staff skipping their order number by mistake. In short, this is not an ideal location to expect "fast" food service but I will prob return to their drive-through service for convenience. There are other drive through options on Kingsway like Wendy's or White Spot but this is the only McDonald's in the surrounding Edmonds/Highgate area. ...on a positive note, this may be the universe way of saying we should try for healthier drinks and food options elsewhere.

The piece of chicken was quite large, about an inch thick in most parts. Tasted great too, especially with the pickles. There's a lot of mayonnaise in the burger which is great for the taste buds (and not so much the calories). They give 2 sauces for the chicken orders which is really nice. We got 2 honey mustard ones which tasted pretty good. Overallthe food was not bad, but there are lots of other options around, especially with the food court being upstairs.

Chicken didn't have crispy texture but the meat was soft. Other than that I found the food to be greasy. Can't expect much out of $5 deal, but it could've been better. I must say Church's have the best fried chicken ever!
