It is a bit of a walk upstairs to get to the bathroom, but others it is a good place to visit on a pub crawl.

Real ale and good pizza, what more could you want? I think this is a really great concept. At the…read morefront there is the bar with a huge range of beer and from what I can see you can order pub snack type of food at the bar, e.g. pork pies and suchlike. Further at the back is where the pizzas are being made and served. They had some really nice and reasonably priced beers on. They also had a board with the beers and prices which I always like. I chose half a porter which I have forgotten the name of and then it was pizza time. We wanted one that was called American something and had pulled pork on it but were told the pork had run out. They offered to replace with chicken/ham/bacon but that didn't sound as appealing so our second choice was a ham and pineapple as I appear to have come full circle and now love pineapple as a pizza topping again. This was £7.50 for a decent size pizza and was really tasty, though maybe a bit too saucy. I'm not sure I would come here specifically for pizza, but I imagine it's a good place to meet with a group of friends. I would definitely come back for beer and would probably end up ordering pizza, if that makes any sense.

We took the train after a week of exploring London, found our accommodations, walked through all the shops that had just closed, and came across Pavement Vaults. There's a kids' menu and it doesn't have just the ol' regular stuff on it. It has ribs. But also pizza and Mac and cheese for those who like the same old (as at least one of our kids tends to). But it also has tasty, flavorful food for the adults. As in American inspired BBQ. We didn't expect to encounter BBQ. But it had just the right spice and we needed it to warm up. The wine menu was just right and my husband enjoyed a beer. The service was top notch. The music was good too. And, nice clean bathrooms. That's important when you're spending weeks traveling. Loved the pulled pork sandwich. The fries are skinny and spicy, but not so much that my daughter didn't eat a bunch. Two in our party enjoyed the ribs. 'Falls off the bone.'

I ordered my usual Gluten Free Pollo Pancetta, it arrived fairly quickly, but with my hotel being just under half a mile away, I would have expected nothing else. What I was surprised at however was how the pizza arrived lukewarm, despite travelling such a short distance in a short amount of time. I can't understand how that would possibly happen. The temperature was a big issue with enjoying my pizza, but I was also disappointed with the meat, mostly the chicken which was rather hard and chewy, and not enjoyable as it is at other Pizza Express locations. I did phone the restaurant in advance to confirm my pizza would be cut, this was semi-accurate, the kitchen had made an attempt to cut the pizza, but I still had to tear it, they also left a quarter of the pizza unsliced overall. The few positives include the fact this is one of the few places that doesn't seem to charge more for delivery orders, although the fees from third-party delivery companies like Deliveroo do seem to add up. I also liked the gluten-free sticker and hygiene sticker on the pizza box. A bad experience with their delivery side to the business, even with their delivery partner, I may return in the future to hope for a better experience when dining inside the restaurant, but my expectations are low. 2*
