Sant' Angelo Italian Restaurant

Sant' Angelo Italian Restaurant

The character of Sant' Angelo's in Wetherby, is one which stands out of the crowd. Having visited a…read morefew times, whether for birthdays, anniversaries, or just for somewhere to grab a quick bite and drink, I have never been disappointed. From the main, side, or rear entrances, the first thing that hits you, is the beauty and elegance of this place. It is a warming atmosphere alone that stays with you. Food wise, I have never been disappointed (as many people have claimed having to wait for their meals), I have to disagree. A Spaghetti Bolognese takes time to cook and prepare, it is not done in pre-bulk prep like other restaurant's do. The short wait is worth it and it is served hot. With its varied menu there is not a single meal that I could recommend, because though my above favourite dish is preferred, I have indulged in others, including Pizza, Scampi and Lasagna. All of these in my opinion were value for money, and all followed by a desert, which was equally delicious. Overall, I would highly recommend Sant' Angelo's, whether for those living local, or afar, you will discover a beautiful restaurant with a big heart for the Italian dishes that it serves up. There is also the Music Nights, too, which will never cease to entertain the movers and shakers among you. I should also add, that there is soft beverages for those designated driver's who wish to enjoy getting out and not being restricted. Teas, coffees and soft drinks are offered to these great people who look at the sensible side of dining out.

The Meet and Greet was polite, the showing to our table comfortable and the ordering of our meals to the point of being served was excellent. Some locals had told us not to dine out at the Restaurant for their experience was disastrous, but, we (My wife and I) would rather experience the setting, the service and the meal first hand before passing judgement. In the case of Sant' Angelo's, we have agreed to visit on all our birthday's and other celebrations, too, just to experience the warm hospitality of the restaurant and its warm, friendly staff. Our daughters enjoyed watching their Pizza's being made by the Chef, while the light atmospheric music around the whole room was relaxing and not too loud so as to drown out our conversations. At the end of the evening we found that we were allowed to finish our meals and wait a while longer while we finished our drinks before asking for the cheque. It was neither rushed nor were at any time feeling scrutinised as to over staying our welcome there. We would highly recommend Sat' Angelo's to anyone, whether you are visiting or if you are a resident of the Town itself.

Stuzzi is a too-good-to-be-true trifecta of wonderful food, excellent service, and reasonable pricing. The menu is small sharing plates, as many places are these days. With a group of four we got to have quite a lot of that menu. The tagliatelle in ox cheek ragu was a marvel of simplicity. The arancini completely changed my mind about a dish I've always considered an overrated way for a restaurant to dispose of extra risotto. The wine and cheese were superb, chosen for us by the charming wait staff. The digestif menu features a small but punchy selection of grappas -- never a given at British Italian restaurants and always appreciated by me.

They also have a nice selection of Italian deli bits and bobs for you to take away with you. We found some of the charcuterie and cheese impossible to resist. The idea is to order a few tapas sized portions of various dishes and then mix and match with your eating partners - and it works a treat. Not quite full? Order something else - the kitchen is efficient and we have never waited too long. Now that we are semi-regulars the staff have got to know us to some extent. I am very much into my wine and I take some care when ordering a bottle any place I go. At Stuzzi when they ask me what I want to drink I now just ask them to 'bring me something interesting' and that is exactly what they do. They have never let me down. Every time the wine that arrives at the table is well selected - delicious and not unreasonably priced. This is a restaurant that wants people to enjoy the wines on offer so the prices are sensible - in so many places these days the price of a decent bottle is ridiculous, but here you will find the opposite. If you want fine dining and silver service that's not what this place is about. It's too laid back for that and it's now what they set out to do. Instead you are served excellent food in an unhurried environment, and that vibe always seems to be found at every table. Fun, tasty, easy.

Get me checking into somewhere so far out of the LS1 area! You know this place must have been…read moresomething special to get me out for that (although having a lift also helped massively!!).. I'm a bit of a fan of Italian food, and also a fan of live entertainment in restaurants - so Sant' Angelo was perfect for me. I took a group along for a Shirley Bassey tribute evening & a meal, and they were both fantastic. The singer started off with a number of Shirley hits, but also completely played the character well.. she then came back to do a 2nd set which featured a number of hits from different performers & also included a few tracks from Dolly Parton (where again she played the act well). I massively enjoyed a very generous helping of spaghetti carbonara, while my friends tucked into a well portioned & tasty lasagne, rigatoni & finally a fishy type salad (can you tell I don't eat salad or seafood from that?) - the salad, I was advised, wasn't quite as filling as the other dishes - but what do you expect from a salad (not that I would know, I think I mentioned that I'm a salad dodger?). The venue itself is very centrally located.. if you live in Wetherby.. otherwise it's definitely worth taking a trip out to enjoy. The staff were all fun, friendly, interactive & attentive and the venue itself is a beautiful setting for a meal, whether that be an intimate meal for 2 or for a larger group of you. I only had one let down in the evening, and that was due to a slightly rowdy group at the table next to us, whom even the singer had to ask to quieten down a couple of times & I could also see that they were disturbing the other diners sat at the other side of them. I just felt that the staff of the venue should have noted that they were disturbing others and taken more action to quieten them down a bit - don't get me wrong, they weren't totally wild & out of control otherwise I think many people would have been vocalising their complaints. We're already planning on returning in December, then again in April, so all in all it was a great experience that I'm looking forward to enjoying, and maybe I can upgrade to 5 star next time!

This is one of my favourite places to visit with friends due to the light atmosphere and wide choice of dishes available. For anybody who may be a little shy to try a forgeign cuisine, English options are available. I ordered the Sirloin Steak which was, as always, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of caramelised onions. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant, around £18 for a steak dish. Quality is always present at Brio and staff have always had a 'can do' attitude.

Leeds is tough competition when it comes to Italian food and over my time in leeds I've been around most of them and decided Brio is the one for me. Its in the name and pizza really is a specialty you wont find better thin an crispy as they should be with a full range of toppings to choose from, and classic combinations at that. The Gargantua comes highly recomended a meaty feat! Pasta always perfectly cooked and delicious fancy something fishy go for the linguine alle vongole, (long flat pasta with clams garlic chilli and the like) a real classic dish. There is always a range of seasonal specials be it lobster season or something else, check them out while you wait to be seated. Brio is a great place for a speedy lunch or a hassle free dinner when you need to get your drink on. Some of the best coffee in Leeds, so dont miss out on that espresso to help you get over the post feast slump! Salute! or Gezuar!

Thankfully Gianni's does, and we managed to book a table effortlessly online via Toptable. Set just outside the main centre of Harrogate, Gianni's is a bright modern restaurant, with a sizeable bar, and very friendly, efficient staff. We were shown to sizeable round table even though there was only two of us, this was a nice touch, sometimes two person tables can feel a little cramped. The whole restaurant had a spacious feel, and was equally suited to couples, groups or families with children: the restaurant was about half full on the night we visited. We chose the early bird menu, £12.95 apiece for two courses, a sufficiently varied selection of dishes. After we had chosen our mains, we were given a complimentary bread basket, with a varied of freshly baked breads, served with a black olive tapenade and a spicy tomato dip, a lovely start to the meal. For my main, I had a mushroom based ravioli with a creamy tomato sauce, topped off with parmesan, full of flavour and a big portion, washed down with a giant 660ml bottle of Peroni, perfect! My wife had the salmon accompanied by the ratatouille, one of the best pieces of salmon she had ever eaten. Obviously you have to have a dessert, its almost compulsory, I went for the mixed gelato, an unusual choice, but a great combination of interesting flavours. My wife had had the homemade profiteroles with a jug of warm chocolate sauce! Finished off the obligatory coffee, Gianni's was a chance find, but one which we will definitely visit again next time we visit Harrogate

Of the branches 've visited over the last few years, this is one of the better ones. Its also one of the more compact venues, so the two are probably linked as it never really gets TOO busy, unlike some others I've been in. The food here is usually fresh and tastes fine, although sometimes the pasta can be overcooked and the pizzas a little burnt, but its nothing which really spoils your enjoyment. Theres plenty of choice on the menu starters, main courses, and a dessert menu, which is the only overpriced element to the place. The drinks menu is pretty extensive too - with a decent wine list, and an occasional specials menu which offers something a little different from time to time. As mentioned, service here is unhurried and friendly, and the atmosphere - particularly at night when they put the candles out - is cosy. Recommended.
