Strada is just that Italian place you see as you're walking around the nice parts of London. Not as…read moremany chains as the ubiquitous Pizza Express, but you know the areas you'll find chains of Pizza Express to have at least a single Strada. The place is nice and clean. Service stellar. Plates are cleared and orders taken swiftly. Staff are helpful with choosing items on the menu. Onto the most important thing. Food. It's not stellar, but it's above decent. The starters, bruschetta with tomato and the mozarella and avocado were fresh and tasty. My main, the N'duja pizza was stellar, nice and spicy as expected. The seafood linguine less so. Only a single prawn (hate places that do this) but quite a lot of calamari and some mussels. If you're going to include prawn, min. 2 should really be the requirement, unless it's a beast of a prawn. That tasted okay, but as you can imagine the majority of these dishes are super easy to prep and cook. Getting them wrong is pretty much impossible. The desserts were the best bit. The cherry ricotta cheesecake was standout for me. The limoncello trifle wasn't far behind. Very nice ends to a decent meal. So Strada is hands down better than Pizza Express in my opinion. Service is miles better, food is around the same standard and simply for the sublime N'duja pizza and Cherry Ricotta dessert, in the words of Arnie. I'll be back.

Was at the restaurant in Islington (London) and had a pizza and some wine…read more I liked that you could see the fire in the pizza oven. As there were mirrors on the left and the right -made this place somewhat interesting - perhaps just when there alone, but I kind of liked it that I could also see the people's faces where I normally only would have seen there backs. And you could even look around using the mirroring of the mirror. It's not the worst place to go in Camden.

Not the most relaxing place to have a bite inside - in fact I would recommend, weather permitting to eat outside - at least you can stretch your legs and enjoy serious people watching without a person buying a slice of pastrami and blocking the view!

We often head to this spot after work when we're craving a good curry... or when we're just too…read moretired to cook for ourselves. The restaurant is always full and it's not just because there are loads of other lazy sods in Balham--as proof, the Indian restaurant next door is perpetually empty. We haven't ever tried it, but we've given them the benefit of the doubt and assumed they must survive on take-away orders. At the Indian Room, we tend to experiment with our orders and branch out to try unknown dishes--we've never been disappointed. I hope to someday have worked my way through most if not all of their dishes as each gets better than the last. (Although I'm not sure if that says more about our poor ordering skills or the restaurant's food.) The prices are very affordable so we always over eat. Oops! It's also worth noting that all the folks who work in the restaurant are very very nice! One last thing, it's not great for groups over 6 as the space is quite small, but they will do their best to accommodate you if you do have a large group.

I am Burmese. And no, I will not come back again…read more Yes, I get that this is a "Burmese" restaurant in SOHO catering for primarily non-Burmese demographics. But that being said, I have tried many amazing elevated or inspired cuisines developed from the traditional ones. The food at lahpet however, is just plain mutant carcinogen that neither elevates nor inspires. I was excited to support my compatriot in dining at Lahpet but there was no Burmese in sight. The wait staff, manager and kitchen staff are all Europeans with zero knowledge of Burmese food to recommend what to order. So we rolled the dice on the menu: the namesake Lahpet salad was underwhelming. Ironically the tea leaf was overwhelmed by the use of more sharp-tasting purple cabbage. Additional fillings/condiments also did not pair well with the crunchiness and savoriness of the dish. It's like Zaw Mahesh blindfolded himself and grabbed the first 3 veggies out of the walk-in and threw it on the dish. My American partner could make a better lahpet thote. The steamed fish: greasy, edible. That's it. No quintessential cilantro/coriander leaves and spring onion combo to remind you that this dish is of Shan ethnic origin. Shame. The point of calling yourself a Burmese restaurant is that even if you want to serve food inspired from the culture, you'd still leave a heartstring that tugs you back to its origins. Lahpet severed that. Might as well be eating take out pizza with tea leaf topping.

I like Ask. I really like Ask…read more I have yet to have a bad experience at any of it's chains (been to about 5 or 6) and the quality is always consistently good. The Uxbridge ask is nice and open with a fair bit of room between tables and also at the table. The waiting staff were friendly, chatty and nice (this has been the norm at Ask, whatever their recruitment process is they should sell it on as other restaurants could do with learning it.) as well as having a good knowledge of the menu (a major bonus). The food was all well received, I always go for the Pizza which has always been tasty, had a decent amount of toppings and just the right size, nothing to shout about but at that price (£7-8) you can not go wrong. All in all a good place to go with a small group of friends, family or even on a date. In Uxbridge this place is a gem!
