Simple and full of flavour... We visited Pinocchio late on a weeknight and got to use our entertainment voucher here. The atmosphere is simple and there is a story of Pinocchio painted on the walls. The theme is consistent throughout the restaurant with black and white walls and the white "milk" water jugs also have a pinnochio silhouette. I really enjoyed our visit though my glass had a big lipstick mark on it. Overall, the servers were quite casual however the food was magnifique and I will be back to visit.

Italian food is a strange concept in Melbourne. You have the strip on Lygon Street that has just…read morebecome this bogan infested tourist trap whereby restaurants charge way too much for fuck all and the quality is largely shit. Then you've got all these solid Pellegrini's and Tiamo type joints that serve stoic, no frills Italian at reasonable prices but they ain't nothing special. Then you have the more fancy end. La Taverna would like to occupy the fancy end but their food is more Pellegrini's (which is not a bad thing). The trouble is, you know you can get solid Italian food with zero fuss at these other places, whereas La Taverna is all about the table cloths and cutlery and shit. So, if being a bit pampered while eating some pretty decent Italian classics is your bag, then La Taverna may well be for you. Me, I prefer to be largely ignored and dished up a quick meal with no fuss when I eat Italian. Am I a freak?

Pictures do not lie, these pizza's are just truly fantastic. Have tried the Gambari, Courgette and Vegipatch pizzas in addition to their garlic pizza and rocket salad, and I am just so pleased that only quality, fresh ingredients are used in their products. The owners of Cielo's really know what they are doing, and the taste and quality of their pizza's is living proof that this family business has stood the test of time, in fact since 1978 they have been serving up awesome pizza's. Cielo Pizza is their new baby, and the owners are finding that this change is moving in a real, positive direction for them. Think quality ingredients such as the juiciest and chunkiest (let alone the freshest) king prawns, goats cheese and pumpkin to name. It is great that their toppings are to be seen right in front of the customer when ordering pizza to either eat in or take away. This is a great sign in itself. The great news is that Cielo's also serves quality Gluten Free Pizza's (medium size only) and delivers. Well organised business with the best pizza's and the friendliest customer service around. It is a shame that a five star rating is the limit here on Yelp, otherwise I would be giving this business more star ratings of which it truly deserves. A quality business that has also won many Glen Eira Council Food Hygiene Awards.
