The profiterole dessert was the saving grace. They were delicious and completely worth their $12 price tag. The wait staff were pleasant and courteous, and the restaurant interior was inviting. Our large group was able to get seated and we ordered the Zonzo Festa, which comes with three courses. We were quickly served the antipasto plates. The meats, prosciutto and salami, I believe, were both very well flavored. There wasn't too much cheese, though, and the bread was just fine. I wish it would have been served with crackers instead. For the pizzas, we had to wait almost an hour. Even though we were a large group, I didn't really expect it to take this long. We ordered the Pizza Alla Salsiccia, which had a pork and fennel sausage. This was very well seasoned and was definitely my favorite. The Pizza con pancetta was also well flavored. Finally the Pizza con Sporessa had salami on it, which was good but quite spicy! The meal ended with slow cooked lamb with potatoes. We were all pretty full already, and this wasn't necessarily a "light" dish, so it did seem a little weird. The lamb looked really good, but was pretty tough. The potatoes were nicely cooked, but I think we were just all too full to really enjoy it. Overall, the restaurant was yummy! However, service was wayy too slow, and we were not expecting to spend close to 2.5 hours eating. One of the groups was also only served two pizzas, though everyone else got three as part of the Zonzo Feast. However there were some great aspects, specifically everything to do with the wait staff. They were personable and super friendly. The food took a while to be prepared, but when it was ready it was at our table in no time. We have visited La Lupa many times in the past 7-8 years. The first time we were gobsmacked about how great it is. But now everytime we visit, the food we eat declines in quality and quantity.

After cutting further, it was clearly raw inside, as if it had just come from the butcher. We returned this dish. The waiter came back saying the chef claimed it is "normally raw near the bone." I have never heard of this. Medium or even medium-rare is acceptable, but this was raw. This restaurant used to be one of my favourites, but unfortunately it has gone downhill. Last night I stepped outside my pizza comfort zone and ordered the morroccan lamb on salad. The flavours were nice although a little tough and the calamari, not the best I've had. The friendly staff and good service keep you satisfied and not wanting for anything. The coffee is also good and if you can't stop for a meal grab a takeaway pizza it still great. Make sure you book if you want a table as it can be very busy and you may be disappointed or will have to wait a while. They are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I usually book at least a week in advance and even then in the festive times of year it's hard to get a table. Give it a go you won't be disappointed it's a bit of a drive from Melbourne but there are plenty of other places to see and things to do if you make it a day trip.
