My favourite Christmas present of recent times - courtesy of my thoughtful little sister - was a…read morereusable travelling tea cup and some loose leaf Pina Colada tea. I rued the day I left New Zealand and with it the wonderful shop that sold all and everything tea related. For I am a bona fide tea enthusiast. I needn't have worried, for Melbourne boasts the tea wonder that is the incredible T2 and Warburton, the even better Old Tea Shop; a tearoom and tea retailer selling absolutely the most incredible range of over 200 loose leaf teas. From the medicinal to the novel, the tasty to the downright weird, The Old Tea Shop has them all. As perfectly lovely as it is to buy a few varieties of tea to take home and enjoy, my recommendation is an afternoon at The Old Tea Shop for some - strictly gluten free - scones and tea. You can buy tea or you can sip tea slowly sitting at one of the little country cottage tables with a teapot, tea cosy and doilies in tow. In fact there is nothing about this place that isn't pot tea (hoho get it!). But seriously if you are passing through Warburton, don't be fooled into getting a coffee at the cafe next door, the owner is rude as hell and the food and drink are crap. Instead park yourself down at a little table in The Old Tea Shop and let the afternoon slip away in a loquacious haze. After all there is nothing like a good chat over a cuppa tea.
