This business started life around six months ago (summer 09) as Clay Plate where they focussed on clay-oven based dishes like turkish pizza, Pide, Lahmacun and Meze dishes. They have recently re-branded as 'Ocakbasi', done away with the clay oven and replaced it with a Charcoal Grill. Although I was a big fan of their previous set-up, the re-brand is a very welcome change with a focus on grilled meat and kebab dishes. Décor is quaint, perhaps a little eccentric, with lampshades fashioned from old kitchen utensils, but the atmosphere is pleasant. Waitresses are way above benchmark, and me and my friends all have our favourites! Prices for an evening meal sit in the £10-£20 range but i've never been for dinner. You can usually pick up a decent lunch in here for less than a fiver including a drink. Definitely recommended for Edgware locals and visitors alike. Do it.

Edgware's best little secret…read more I've been to many far more expensive restaurants and their food does not come close to the quality and taste of their produce. - The chef appears to love cooking, and you can see how he lovingly prepares and cooks his food at the grill, and this comes through in the excellent taste. The waitresses are always friendly, and if they don't have it on the menu, they will often make it upon request, nothing seems to much trouble. - Also they provide lots of super extras, plenty of bread, salad and baclavas. The value is super also, you will be hard pressed to spend more than £30 per couple and can easily do much less. Why did it not get 5 stars. - The snob in me comes out here. - The decor and fittings detracts from the experience. - Unfortunately this can make you feel you are eating in a high street kebab shop. - I have learned to look past this and have had many many thoroughly enjoyable evenings there, but I can see how this affects others.

Rose is a very special place for me…read more Whenever I am in London, I make sure to pay a visit to Rose because it's that perfect little Vegetarian restaurant. I have plenty of relatives in the area that don't eat meat, so having a "safe zone" restaurant is exactly what we need. Rose is that place. The plates are quite large, and everything on the menu is reasonably priced. Everything! Rose is special to me, because outside of your typical Gujarati fare, you will be treated to the Indo-Chinese menu. For those of you who aren't in the know...Indo-Chinese is that genre of food that is often overlooked in the states. Think chinese sauces and spices with paneer, etc. It's quite tasty! My go-to's at Rose: Paneer Biryani, and Vegetable Jalfrezi. The flavors and the aromas are a religious experience. Seriously Also, the falooda and rabdi are some great choices to cap off your amazing meal. I can't wait until the day I can visit again. P.S. It's close to Kingsbury Hospital, and just east of the Kingsbury tube station.

Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a full dinner, Rose Veg will please. Their Bombay chaat is a delicious tongue teaser and their extensive Indo-Chinese menu will be sure to please all those looking for something a little different. From their drinks menu, their super yummy chiku milk shake hits the spot and is a nice alternative to the standard sweet, salty or mango lassi. I've also had the ragra patties, aloo papri chaat and dahibhala chaat and they're all excellent and the best thing about all of them are the portion sizes. They're crazy huge and fit for a king! My absolute favourite things to order at this restaurant are their wide selection of paratas which you can have them make-to-measure by specifying what stuffing's you want added. The staff are attentive and the service is fast and efficient. We frequent this restaurant often and each time we've been we've noticed couples, large families and mostly Indian clientele. The 183 bus or Kingsbury station on the Jubilee Line will take you very close to this superb restaurant. Highly recommended and very affordable. Two people can easily have a full dinner or lunch for around £8 per head (including non-alcoholic drinks). Now that's what I call value for money!

Originally a Pizza Express, it seems to have mirrored itself along the same lines with their menu being very similar, you can see the pizza being made much like the PE restaurants so can see it is all freshly prepared. Service has always been very good and this is a great family place to come for a meal with lunchtime and evening service as well as take aways. The restaurant is always busy which is a good sign of good food and service. Bills come without the pressure of service charge added so you can leave a tip with as much or little as you like rather than it being demanded of you. Would recommend for young families, couples, friends catching up, etc.

I would always recommend that you check their website as they often have deals on line which you might not get in store. The pizza are of a good size and they now do calzone, 11 & 14 inch pizzas with a variety of different toppings, they have lunch time meals deals as well as deals on the menu, two main meals for a reduced price kind of thing. I believe there is something for everybody on the menu It can get busy n there and a bit on the noisy side, but it kind of adds to its charm. It is still for all intense purpose a pizza express, you can see where they make the pizzas the chefs make the food. they have a well stocked bar. They never seem to be in a rush to get you out of the place so you can continue to chat once your meal is finished. Its a good place for family meals, a place to reminisce.

I believe the price for what you pay for here is much better, the quality of the food is a lot better, love the bread they serve out with your full English, fresh bread, not the hovis sliced bread type. Portions are large and presented well. Food is served very quickly and the venue is light and modern. Too bad it shuts at 3pm and closes on Sundays. Lunch menu is also decent. Good variety and again portion is massive. Its is a nonsense breakfast lunch cafe, not out dated or tired and serves a good grub.
