I'm giving two stars not because we don't love our pigs, but because if you're looking for "pixie pigs" they're it for a few months and that is it. They will be more than 100 lbs fully grown. We've gotten two from this breeder and they're both well over 100 lbs. We feed them the recommended diet for mini pigs and give mini pig food. The first pig I got just died yesterday and he was only 2.5 years old. I don't believe they will live the expected 12-18 years due to the way they're bred. He just died, no symptoms, we just found him dead. I feel like it was probably a heart condition. Mini pigs that stay small don't exist, anywhere, from this breeder or anyone else. They're babies when people get them and then they grow up. I knew that going into it, but didn't expect mine to die so young. read more

We purchased a "mini pig" from Pixie Pigs 4 years ago. Yes, she was tiny when she arrived but soon it was out of control. I tried to reach out to Tammy because I wasn't given a birthdate for my pig. Her vet was also asking. Emailed her several times and she never replied. Well, here we are 4 years later and our mini pig is 180 lbs. This being after daily exercise and food monitoring. There is no such thing as a mini pig, unless you're starving your pig! Shame on these people for deceiving so many families. They need to be shut down!! read more

I have had the pleasure of doing business with Pixie Pigs. I found Tammy to be knowledgeable and has gone out of her way to help me and my family with our understanding of Fiona. I did my homework on mini-pigs in fact I could probably write a book with all the pig knowledge I have now! Regardless, of all the reading I have done there are always questions best suited for the experienced and Tammy is a amazing source of information and she's happy to help. As far as my love Fiona...I could not ask for a better addition to our family. So many people focus on weight and size but let's talk about temperament. Fiona is wonderfully funny and affectionate, and so intelligent! She has remained small as we follow Tammy's(and the food distributors) food guidelines. Fiona gets plenty of exercise because she follows our dogs routine (she thinks she's a dog) Pig owners many of the topics people on here complain about are really in your hands! We bought a "pixie pig" from this place about ten years ago and were told it would grow to be 20 pounds. Now the pig is 80-100 pounds at least. Despite all our potty training efforts, the pig still peed and pooped in the house all the time. We ended up finally moving her outside. She also became aggressive before we spayed her and would attack the mailman and bite small children. We have kept the pig faithfully but I would definitely not recommend this breeder or pigs as indoor pets in general. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! My $3500 "Pixie Pig" was guaranteed to be 20lbs or less. I had my piggy shipped from Pixie Pigs to Texas after doing LOtS of research and begging my husband for over a year to get a pet piggy. I though the photos of Betsy White, promotions on Good Morning America and promises of the "World's Smallest Pigs" on the website must make this place legitimate. However, my research also said that even the smallest pigs don't stay below 20lbs, but I was willing to take my chances. I'm not sure if the other positive reviewers only reviewed as their pigs were young, if they were paid or if they got lucky and received a smaller pig. A year later, my "20 lb pig" is 70 lbs! My vet assured me that even if I underfed her, there is no way my pig would be anywhere near 20lbs! He laughed and simply said, "you were duped." Face it, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Just to be clear I purchased the MOST EXPENSIVE "SMALLEST" pig available on this website for $3500. I have attached the email from Tammy claiming she should be 20lbs. When I emailed her to ask for a partial refund when my piggy clearly is not what she advertised it to be, she explained that weight was not guaranteed. The BBB also could not do anything for me. Soooooo, you charge more for smaller pigs but can't guarantee their size, even when they are over three times the weight promised?! What is going on here is a huge disservice to the pigs. I am Lucky that I do not live in an HOA and a husband who is willing to allow me to keep this big girl, although she hurts us when she steps on us and has taken over the bed. I am so disappointed with the way Tammy has not only made false claims and promises, but was also unwilling to take any accountability for the obviously inaccurate advertisement if not outright lie about the size of my very expensive pig. My pig is 6 months old and only 8 pounds! She is doing great and super healthy. Love her so much! As for the negative reviews, Tammy sells different sized pigs! As a buyer, pay attention to what size you are purchasing. Her company is called Pixie Pigs but not all the pigs are Pixies! She offers a variety in size options to accommodate all her customers needs and wants. She disclosed this to me (that not all of her pigs that she sells will stay 20 pounds). To get that size, you need to pay more ($3,500). I paid the highest price range and received a pig that is very small still, even at 6 almost 7 months of age, and she is measuring up to be the size Tammy said she would be in 4 years (20-30 pounds). Her lowest priced piglets will be bigger, her medium priced piglets will be a little smaller, and her highest priced piglets will be her smallest. This is also all disclosed on her website. I just took my piggy to the vet for her vaccines and pre-op for her spay, and the vet and staff said that she is one of the smallest pigs they have seen at 6 months of age. She does not lie about the birthdays. I was in contact with Tammy since my pig was first born and counted down the 6 weeks until she could come home. She was 1 pound when I got her. Pigs do most of their growing the first year and stop growing around 4-5 years. You need to measure out their food or they will overeat and keep growing. Pigs don't know when they are full. Also, measuring out food does not mean I am starving her! The vet says she is perfect weight :) With pigs, if you overfeed them or feed fatty foods, they will get big! Even certain vegetables can make them overweight! They digest foods in a very fatty way so you have to be very careful. Tammy went over the foods to avoid and this has helped maintain my piglets ideal size. Also, Tammy disclosed with me that 20 pounds is expected and ideal, but that it can't be promised because of genetic hiccups or environmental factors such as the owner's feeding regimens (which would be out of her control). I am very strict with my piggy's diet. Maybe I got lucky, but my piggy is almost 7 months and literally only 8 pounds so I am happy! She seems to be on track for being a small pig. Even if for some reason, she got to be 50 pounds like some of the other reviews, that is still a very small pig. Pigs weigh more than they look because they are chubby and so dense. A 50 pound pig is not that big and still considered micro/pixie!! My vet thinks she will be about 20-30 pounds by 4 years. She is 5 months away from turning 1 and they do most of their growing the first year (and she is only 8 pounds, today!) Overall, Do your research, hope for a small pig, but understand that genetic hiccups are not in the breeders hands and there is a chance the piggy will be bigger than 20 pounds. Tammy is very transparent about this. I breed dwarf rabbits and some are bigger than others. I don't control it. If you are able to provide the proper environment for a 20 pound pig, it should also accommodate a larger pig. Pigs are very curious and need space and stimulation! Whatever size my piggy gets, it won't change my love for her or the environment I can provide. She is incredibly smart and learned 10 tricks within 30 minutes. I have no regrets and absolutely love her so much. She is the best pet that has ever come into my life. I am floored these guys are still in business, though it looks like they have been deleting less of their bad reviews lately. These pigs do not stay small. We bought the pixie pigs (20lbs max) a few years back. As with most of the reviews, they shipped the piglet very young so it looked small, but he grew to a normal size and eventually had to be placed in a rescue sanctuary. We were sad to let him go and it was devastating to put that much time into training and caring for an animal you cared for because a business was dishonest and trying to make a buck. I'm giving Pixie Pigs one more star than it deserves because their owner Tammy offered to take back our pig (no refund, though). However, i did not do this because my concern was that she would place him in another house, take their money, and not fully explain the possible consequences. I don't like to throw around the term "scam" but here is a snippet of my story (if you want more details please contact me! Please talk to me before you consider buying a pig!!!) My girlfriend and I did as much research as possible on breeders. We also read through the bi-laws of our city's ordinance, which allows pigs up to a certain weight. When buying our pixie, we were told his parents were 18 lbs and 22 lbs, both fully grown. At 6 months old, our pig reached 39 lbs. Pigs don't stop growing for the first 4 years of life, so he was clearly not a miniature pig and would far exceed the weight this breeder estimated at 20 lbs. It was heartbreaking that he was now illegal to own and we started looking for adoption so we could find him a good home. We called the breeder to talk though this with her. She insisted that he was probably overfed and just bigger for that litter. Eventually she stopped picking up our calls and stopped replying to emails all together. We have had him walked 2x a day for exercise and fed him vegetables since he was young. His veterinarian has always said that he is a very healthy weight, he is just not going to be the weight we expected. The veterinarian estimated him to possible be 95 or more. I hope people are able to read this and understand what they are purchasing beforehand so they don't have to go through an experience of adopting out a pet they can't care for. read more

I bought my daughter a pixie pig for Christmas in 2014. I was told he would be between 30 and 35 pounds fully grown. At nearly 3 years old now he is hovering around 85 pounds. He is not a domesticated animal and is NOTHING like having a dog. Our big guy loves to be scratched and rolls over whenever he gets attention like that. Very cute, as he did the same thing when he was 5 pounds as he does now at 80. HOWEVER, that is as about as cute as it gets. He does not recognize any of us, has not bonded with anyone in particular, and at the two years mark he was banished to being an outdoor pig. He still comes in at night to sleep in a crate inside the house. I was completely unsuccessful in house training him. My calls and emails to Pixie Pigs looking for help beyond the books we bought went unanswered. Pixie Pigs mislead me into believing our little guy would stay little and that pigs are easy to potty train. Both untrue. All so very disappointing. DO NOT BUY A PET PIG. NO MATTER HOW CUTE THEY ARE IN ADS, JUST DON'T DO IT! read more

The pig rescue community has received multiple complaints from people who purchased pigs from this breeder. People felt deceived by the information they received. Shame on you Pixie Pigs for not caring more about the animals (and people) that line your pockets. To everyone that wants a pig, PLEASE educate yourself on what it's like to have a pot bellied pig as a pet BEFORE purchasing and don't believe the pig will stay small (under 50 pounds) regardless of what the breeder tells you. Find out what acceptable living conditions are for a pig. Check zoning in your area. Talk to a reputable vet that is experienced with pigs to get legitimate information about size and behaviors. Visit a rescue that has pigs full grown (at 4-5 years) pigs. ** You'll save a lot of money rescuing a pig instead of buying one. Yes, rescues have piglets too.** You're a lot more likely to get honest information up front from a reputable rescue**. The pig rescue community is full of supportive people**Another good resource for education is Nancy Shepherd's book on Pot Bellied Pig Parenting. After reading all the reviews on here I sure wish I would have read them in the beginning. I paid $2k for a "pixie" pig. Tammy said my pig would be less than 20lbs full grown. My pig is now 130lbs!!!!!!! YES 130 lbs!!!!! Tammy said I must be over feeding my pig. I AM NOT. My piggy eats mini pig food and carrots for treats. She has a large yard to run and play in and gets plenty of exercise. I absolutely love my pig and would never give her up even at this size. The sad thing is, this is exactly why so many pigs are given up and end up homeless. Once a pig gets to this size it is very hard to manage them in a normal size house & yard. This person, or rather any breeder, that tells you that you will have a 30lb pig is lying to you. Male pigs can breed at 6 weeks old and females 2.5 months. So when you see teeny tiny parents you are seeing very young pigs. A healthy pig should gain 1lb of weight per week during its first year of life and not stop growing until 5 years old. Anyone who says otherwise is sincerely hoping that you don't do your research. This woman is getting rich off of ill informed people who believe the lies she spreads. PLEASE call a vet, speak with other pig owners, go on Instagram and dm pig owners... DO YOUR RESEARCH!! Don't give this crazy woman money. Do NOT trust this breeder. We paid the maximum price expecting our piglet would stay at the guaranteed weight but he didn't. We also contacted the breeder for questions several months after purchase and received no response. Other breeders cost much less for the same size pig, but offer lifetime support and/or a health guarantee. Before trusting the size this breeder guarantees I strongly urge you to check out others who have purchased from this breeder. You will see the guarantee is bogus and you are spending an excessive price for a mini pig that will NOT remain the guaranteed size. read more

We bought a pig from here for $1500 and we were told she was going to be just 20 pounds. Don't fall for it! Though we love our little pig, she is an enormous 60 pounds now, and the vet said that she is not overweight at all. Please don't support this breeder as there are lots of homeless pot belly pigs that are the same size at shelters across the country. Plus, Tammy, the owner, shipped our pig when she was very young and now the pig is part deaf, we think due to the traumatic flight. Also, Tammy stated that our pig would be fully grown at a year when we emailed her asking why our year old "20 pound pig" was already 40. TWO of my friends fell for their "lies" and purchased their mini pigs (one each, separate occasions) and both were promised their mini pigs wouldn't grow any larger than 50 pounds!!! Well, one of the pigs just turned a year old and recently weighed in at 72 pounds at the Vets!!! So how much bigger will they get if mini pigs don't stop growing till they reach 4 yrs of age??? The only reason their "breeding" pairs are so little is because they're still babies themselves! YUP, mini pigs can reproduce as young as THREE months of age!!! And the piglets for sale (the photos shown) are newborns, a "DAY OLD" at most!!! These babies should be nursing and not be set up like "Props" for taking photos to make quick cash!
