Been wanting to try this place because of the great reviews but I gotta be honest.....$15 for a chicken pesto sandwich....no lettuce no tomato...just dry chicken with little pesto. Pixie Deli is conveniently located next to the beach making it a great spot to go to for a quick bite while lounging around. The place only has a couple of tables inside with most of their seating outside. On a warm day at the beach, it's probably preferred to dine outside regardless. I came here with my coworkers and they were accommodating of our larger group. They carefully took our order and ensured that it was correct. Although I can't speak for the others, I can share my opinion of Pixie's overall. I ordered the California Club (which is one of their starred items on the menu). You have a choice between sourdough and wheat bread, which I delightfully chose sourdough. I appreciate that they put it in a tray and wrapped up with plastic wrap. This ensured that it would not be falling apart while taking it to-go. It also helped in taking it back home because the portion size was pretty large. I only finished half! Overall, the sandwich was good but there were a few things that could have been improved. The bacon was very crispy, but placed in a way where only the first few bites would get pieces of bacon. The bread was also cut irregularly so I had a disproportionate amount of bread. It was like having one large triangle of bread paired with a much smaller triangle on the other side. There was plenty of turkey, avocado and mayo for me. One of their popular sides is their chili cheese fries. When I think of chili cheese fries, I think of a base of fries, a heaping pile of chili and a scattering of cheese. It was the chili that threw me off for this side. Rather than chili, I believe it was more like pinto beans. When I think of chili I think of the thick, burgundy colored, perfectly spiced goodness. This was definitely purely beans without any of the traditional chili seasoning. With that being said; I didn't eat what I had anticipated. The meat was warmed up in a microwave and not properly cooked. The fries were cooked with so much oil that the bag was dripping with grease. The sandwich was almost $20 and the fries were $6. 3rd time coming here. I was excited to get the breakfast burrito. I remembered it being good. I got one with all the stuff, everything they offer in it but meat. It was big. But tortilla was not toasted or cooked/grilled ( I should of asked I guess, maybe they would have done it). Anyway, it was a lot of egg and little pieces of the stuff requested like spinach, mushrooms. it lacked flavor, tasted like nothing, and came with sour cream and a not good pico de gallo. it was like 20$. and it was not exciting. The staff was very friendly, I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and jalapeño and it arrived piping hot with sour cream and pico on the side. It's enormous! I came here a while ago with a group of girls for my sister's bachelorette weekend. I actually heard about this place through our Airbnb rental in Aptos. In their posting, they wrote about a place walking distance that has the best breakfast burritos on the West Coast, so obviously we had to check it out. ...and I'm so happy we did! It was the perfect finale to our beachy weekend. Very small, local spot. The staff makes you feel so welcome and like you're instantly friends. It feels like you've discovered a hidden gem when you come here. There are tons of pictures on the wall of people in the community. I ordered their breakfast burrito, obviously. You can customize it however you want it. There's a piece of paper where you can check off which meats you want and which add-ons you want. I got a ton of toppings, even the guy questioned if I really wanted everything I checked. Yes. Portion size is huge but I finished every last bite, no shame. The beach is walking distance so we decided to walk across the street and eat them while looking at the waves. Maybe it was the combination of the cold weather with the comforting burrito or the beautiful ocean view, but it was the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Important Place. Stopped by this classic sandwich and with right drinks nearly on the beach, a true great location. The food was good, and I had a great pastrami sandwich with a soft drink. It had sturdy enough and lots of chairs that fit my wide around the waist derrière, fine service with waiters with smiles, good server system to get the food out to my table with a good friend. The cashier got my name right on the slip with a type of drawinr by cashier/woman that signaled to my lady. The cashier/woman was a great hostess for going the extra mile in understanding. I thought she was a business owner in demeanor for her overall style. I didn't get her name, like a tourist town we were in, too short but I did communicate I liked her as a friend if only.. Pixie Deli...what a surprise. The sandwiches are very good and the setting is perfect. This is not a sterile Subway or a Togos...this is a genuine local deli. When I walked up and noticed a meat smoker out front, I knew things were likely to get really good for a late lunch, and I was not let down. The woman that took my order was very nice (ok, she was cute and had a great smile), and I ended up with the Tri Tip sandwich and a cup of bold coffee. Both were very good, though generally, I prefer a bit more smoke on my Tri Tip. Even still, that sandwich was generous and pretty much fully met my high expectations. The Tri Tip was very tender too. The patio deck seating was much appreciated, and while a bit breezy and cold, the ambiance with the beach in the background was just perfect. The woman that took my order, you know, the cute one with the great smile, said they'd bring the sandwich out to my table on the deck...and it was brought out promptely...but disappointingly, by some guy, perhaps the cook. Again nothing special about this over priced sandwich. Oh the bread was good. The burrito was so bland, no flavor at all, it was served hot though. Fries served hot. I've been here many many times in the last 10+ years. After moving away I was excited to come back and eat there 2 years later. Immediately I noticed it was much cleaner and brighter than it used to be. The owner was so nice and I knew something had changed - the old owner was super crabby. I was thinking this was going to be better than ever. Sadly not the case. The burrito I ordered my kids was premade which I thought was strange. My Philly cheesesteak with chicken was cold, the cheese was not meaty, barely any peppers and just dry and bland. Not to mention there was a huge piece of cartilage in the sandwich which I bit into. Yuck! The fries we cold, undercooked and unsalted. We ended up throwing 1/2 the food away which is a total bummer after spending $70 for lunch. My friend came to visit out of town and commented he wanted sandwiches. I live in watsonville and had never been here but based on reviews and comments i decided to bring him here. Best decision ever. It's a local sandwich and salad place near the beach. It was not as crowded as I thought it would be being a holiday and close to the beach. Staff was friendly and fast.
