Avoid passport photo services at this store. I visited specifically to get a passport photo for an expedited renewal, assuming a store advertising this service would have the proper tools and trained staff. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. A week after submitting my application, I received a letter stating the photo did not meet requirements--specifically, the face size wasn't within the required 1 to 1 3/8 inches (attached). I returned to the store to request a retake or a refund. They assured me they could take a compliant photo, but after 20 minutes and six failed attempts, they still couldn't get it right. They seemed unsure how far the camera should be from my face, and their equipment didn't allow them to digitally zoom or resize the image. The face size was either too small or too large every time. Eventually, they offered a refund. I ended up going to CVS, where I could take the photo on my phone, and their system resized it correctly. They even provided a certificate verifying the photo met passport standards. Unfortunately, the expedited fee I paid for the passport processing was wasted, and I had to pay again to mail a new photo. It's shocking that a store offering a "professional" passport photo service can't deliver a basic, compliant image. read more

I've left a positive review for this place and Matt Swettel before but I'm doing it again as the customer service, guidance and patience are OUTSTANDING. Seriously. I live in Richland, Washington but my 'go to' camera store and person is in Avon, Ohio because of their knowledge, quality and fair pricing along with incredible service. I've purchased a couple of lens' from Matt and other photography accessories. Last year I rented some lenses from them and it was a very easey-peasey process. Love this place. Other local photography stores talk about photography while Pixel Connection lives it. High tech to low tech hardware with a staff to support it all. I just left there looking for one thing to come out a half an hour later. The staff tried hard to find me what I needed but the manufacture did not have. That was probably 10 minutes of my time. The rest was conversation on travel and photography. Pixel connection usually will have a seminar or a photo walk going on. They want you to get the most out of your camera and enjoy photography in general. They don't care if you are a budding professional or a parent who wants to shoot their own family pics. This is what I meant by living for photography. Stop in and say hello. They have new and used equipment. Always a specialist around to answer the difficult questions. While this retailer based in Avon, Ohio located about 120 miles southwest of Ann Arbor, Michigan it's nearly a five hour drive round trip. The store has knowledgeable and friendly staff that provides excellent customer service and support. Especially when purchasing from the online store, I was able to be provided a easy return and new replacement upon arrival. And despite the fact that it's a five hour trip, I travel to this business 6-10 times a year. New to Cleveland, I went into the shop thinking about selling my old equipment, trying to find a local business I could support, looking at new gear. I bought a mirrorless Sony on an impulse. I bought the adapter too, thinking perhaps I could keep some of my lenses and use them with the Sony, instead of selling them for next-to-nothing prices. It was truly an impulsive decision on my part; as much as I liked the camera, I couldn't afford it ($1,800, not including the adapter) without having a job yet. Three days later, I came to my senses and returned both the camera and the adapter. The very polite saleswoman told me that because I did not have the thin, styrofoam envelope the camera came in, nor the two small ziploc bags that the charging cables came in (I threw them out, not thinking) I would be charged a "restocking fee." She pointed to a 8x11 notice right on the counter that detailed their return policy. I didn't notice it when I bought the equipment, nor did the salesman advise me of the return window, or any policies regarding returns. The "restocking fee" was $399. Read that again. I was charged $399 because I didn't have a styrofoam envelope (that I ripped open anyway, to get the camera out, it's not as though it could have been reused) or the small plastic bags that are literally available everywhere. The woman told me the camera couldn't be re-sold because I'd thrown out the valuable packaging materials, that apparently couldn't be replaced with any other packaging materials. I personally value local businesses that demonstrate flexibility in satisfying customers, especially when it comes to small things. It's not as though I used the camera - I only had it three days - and to charge $399 for simple packing materials that could have been bought at any Office Max, indicates to me that the shop did not care about cultivating my business, as I would have been a customer going forward. I will find a camera shop that does. read more

Love this store! Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. Their prices are super on point, so there's no need to shop at big box stores. First time I stopped in the store I was surprised to see the amount of pro-level equipment. One of the coolest aspects of the pixel connection are the photography events they put on. They often have brand representatives in store doing product demos. They have a lot of social events and workshops that are great for meeting other area photographers. Can't think of one single negative about this store. read more

I drove 4 hours to the Pixel Connection from Pennsylvania to go pick up a Sony 135mm GM that Matt had shipped to the store from the warehouse. I brought up a bunch of my Nikon camera and lenses to see if I could trade them in. Matt gave me a great trade in. Some people expect top dollar when trading gear in but you have to realize they have to make money too. I was really happy with my trade in price, got my new lens and walked out of there with more cash then I walked I with. Best camera store I have been to. The whole staff was great. Stopped in again after I went to Cedar Point and took some time to see what they all have. You can get anything you need to start a photography or videography business.
