If you're looking for coaches for who genuinely care and want to see their clients do and feel…read morewell, this is the place! I spent a year or longer after moving to Pittsburgh attending classes in many different gyms around the city. I've found other establishments that I enjoy and get great work outs in and click with the coaches but no one compares to the service received at Panthro from Chris and his team. Chris is passionate and knowledgeable in what he does with clients. Not only have I seen some of the best results in my body but feel great and know I'm at the strongest I've been. No doubt I'm going into 30 in the best shape of my life. Chris frequently checks in and remembers problem areas or things I have been working on. If I'm having trouble with an area, he is quick to suggest and demonstrate specific stretches and adjust any of the days work out to ensure the best and most effective experience. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough!! I have 2-3 gyms on my list that I love in Pittsburgh but hands down, Panthro is it! It's small, intimate and such a welcoming gym. I've taken classes with Chris and Casey but trust that Chris brings the best coaches to his team!

Panthro is in a class of its own. Offering bootcamp-style…read moreclasses as well as strength training focused classes gives me the variety I want in my fitness. Class experience: Whether strength or bootcamp, every class feels new, thoughtful, and carefully designed to work my body. The trainers are always very helpful in providing modifications to exercises to accommodate injuries. The trainers also are helpful in providing feedback on form and motivation. For me, it feels like I have my own personal trainer for a fraction of the price. Community: Not only are the trainers amazing at Panthro, but the people who go to Panthro are as well. When you go to Panthro, you also join a friendly and encouraging community. Results: My body is noticeably different now from when I started. I am stronger and have better muscle definition--receiving multiple compliments from friends and family. The result I appreciate the most is a significant reduction in injuries and recovery times. Pulling a muscle in my back at home? Nope Fatigued after a vigorous day of yard work or helping someone move? Nada. My main motivation for going to the gym is to care for my body and enable me to live my best life--Panthro certainly provides that value for me.

I always say it's not a good workout class unless you hate your instructor a little bit. I booked a…read moreclass on Class pass after seeing Kiera's Tik Tok about what to expect from your first Mecka Fitness class. I thought this class would be a stretch for me since I'm not a runner whatsoever but I was pleasantly surprised. I did have to stand outside since no one was in the studio but I messaged the business on Instagram and they said someone was on the way. Kiera saved me from the Pittsburgh breeze and was so nice and welcoming. She walked me through all the equipment we would be using so I could feel comfortable. The gym also had lockers inside the bathrooms for each gender. The class was a mix of running/sprinting/jogging/walking and ski pulls, and weights. I feel the burn and I know I'm going to be sore for a few days. I also love the cold peppermint towel at the end. It's a nice touch. It was a great start to my day and I can't wait to be in Pittsburgh again to come back.

After arrival, I noticed a class was in session, and it shares a wall with the contrast therapy room. The music shook the sauna panels and was too loud for me to even listen to my own music and/or read in peace. After about 15 mins, I left and asked for a refund/reschedule. I was told someone would be in contact. No one was, so I reached out myself, and was told no refunds since I used up a spot that someone else could have. Seems odd considering that the noise level was not communicated prior and part of a session is relaxation. I was offered a reschedule again after requesting a refund instead. Would not recommend giving your money to a place that is so careless with it. Thoughtless concept that is very clearly just an easy money grab.

I picked up a one month membership at 100 Percent Fitness in Aspinwall through Groupon and, to put…read moreit mildly, it was something of a disaster. The wife of the owner made it clear to me from the gitgo that she annoyed because I waited several months before redeeming the Groupon, then set up an appointment for the following week. I waited around for about twenty minutes in the fitness room - not a soul was there - before finally giving up. As I was leaving the building, a young woman walked by who, it turned out, had been working there for a few weeks. She saw that my appointment was listed in the schedule but didn't have time to work with me (not her fault, she wasn't the person I was scheduled to meet). She then rescheduled me for the following evening. I arrived ready to work with that woman. The co-owner, who'd missed the appointment with me, was also there and apologized. btw, not even a message on my voicemail to acknowledge she wasn't going to be there the night before. Her husband, the owner, was all smiles telling me they'd make up for the missed appointment the previous night. Frankly, I had a good session and was looking forward to doing more. As I believed the membership coupon had stated "unlimited," I wanted to come again the next day but was told no, it was only good for two sessions a week. We set up for 5:00PM two days later instead. When I rechecked the fine print, it indeed said "unlimited" and I called the next day. I was then informed by the co-owner that I had been bumped to a later time (which wasn't convenient for me) the following night in favor of a "paying" customer. She invited me to come to a group session but didn't sound overly happy that I was going to be there. Later in the day I received a phone call from her husband (the owner), who decided to clarify things and ask me what it would take to make things right. I told him they could start by not cancelling appointments in favor of other people. He told me he didn't want me in his place again and that he would send me back my money. That was last week with no refund at all. He's now threatening to sue me for slander for informing other people of their rude and abusive behavior. Currently Groupon is supposed to be running another promotion with them. Just fair warning to all to steer clear of this shady and unsavory business.
