Truly a piece of history. An incredibly large building with murals, marble, iron and solid wood. One of the many beautiful turn of the century buildings that Pittsburgh boasts.

    In honor of Pittsburgh's bicentennial.

Went on a Wednesday morning to get a new birth certificate after losing my original. Went online…read morefirst and printed and filled out all proper paperwork. Which was basically 1 page with your basic info. When I got there I had to let the security guard at the front door know where I was going. He then typed something into a thing at his desk which apparently runs the elevators. Got on the elevator which took me to the 3rd floor without me having to hit any buttons. When I reached the 3rd floor I then had to follow the signs to Vital records office. When I reached the office I went to the window where I was met by a very nice older women who took my papers and ID. She then processed my payment and told me that my Birth Certificate will be ready in 10 to 15 minutes. I sat down for what I believe was no more that 5 minutes and it was ready and given to me by another gentleman. Fast and polite service!! I was honestly expecting a line and alot of hassle. Luckily got neither and had a very pleasant experience!!

Zero stars, for this branch, specifically, and for the Pa DVR as a whole…read more Zero Stars. If you have business here, consider yourself as damned as one of Dante's characters in "The Inferno". Seriously. In my case, it was to receive an updated copy of my birth certificate. My original birth certificate, and my updated 1996 era certificate of live birth were deemed inadequate by both the DMV and the State Department. Now I know how Obama's feels. This place makes the DMV look like a day at the beach. The level of security is high, the climate control nonexistent. Once you make it past two levels of security,You will conduct all of your transactions with a clerk who is behind six inches of glass. There's no intercom, so lip reading skills would benefit you. If you're lucky enough to get there in time for same day service (11:00-11:30?), you will have the pleasure of coming back later in the day, to wait in line once more, to receive your documents.

We used the Port Authority T line to get to the 2026 NFL draft event. It wasn't a horrible choice,…read morebut in retrospect we should have drove down town. First, it was advertised that the trains would be running every 15 minutes...either that was a lie, or the management and operators are somewhat incompetent...either way, the waits were much greater than 30 minutes. Maybe the worst aspect of the ride was that 3 of the 4 drivers were the most rude, ignorant people that should not have been dealing with the public...especially considering many of the patrons riding during the draft were not regular T riders. The only way they could have been more rude when telling people to not block the door would have been to add some expletives (though the expletives were pretty much implied with the tone used). Just to avoid the horrible conductors, I will avoid using the T unless some calamity requires it.

I really want to give them a better rating. Their bus drivers are 5 stars driving those big busses…read moreon these Pittsburgh streets. Heck, i get here and park my car. Streets are narrow, highways have no shoulders. 5 stars for newer busses which have displays for the next few stops. And Smithfield has helpful employees. So why 2 stars. This system is impossible to figure out. Using their app you have to find a specific stop. You can't see stops that are a block or two away that might be arriving sooner. And then there is inbound and outbound. That is easy to figure out if your bus says "downtown" but some busses don't go downtown so do I want inbound or outbound??!!! Then you have to pick your stop. Why can't they be in the order of the bus route. The app puts them in alphabetical order which makes it difficult to figure when you are the next stop. The system itself seems to cover the city but it just isn't user friendly. Why can't I easily find that when one bus has a 50 min wait, that another stop a half a block or so away has a bus going where I want to go in 8 minutes. I think Port Authority could make finding your bus easier. Half the time, I see those long waits and just walk.
