We arrived slightly early and were joyfully greeted by our host (possible owner?). He let us choose where we wanted to sit, and were happy to accommodate us wanting to sit outside. He and his female coworker went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, giving recommendations for food and wine, sharing the history of the town, even found a brochure of an artist whose piece we were admiring in the restaurant. The food and wine were delicious. We shared a cacio e pepe croquette-type appetizer with prosciutto and fig jam. So unique and delicious. We then had their gnocchi with pesto of the day-today being a black cabbage pesto, and wild boar ragu pappardelle. Again, both delicious. We finished with their tiramisu which was hands down my favorite since being in multiple areas of Italy for 2 weeks. All of the food was so fresh, unique, and extremely well priced. Along with the delicious meal, the kindness and engagement of the staff puts this restaurant above the rest. When I return to Italy this will be a priority stop for sure.

The most striking thing about this restaurant is the high level of service.i can think of at least 5 examples of how their service exceeded my expectations: 1) When we arrived, the staff were expecting us and knew it was us. We had called 3 hours ahead, but this touch set the tone. 2) they had set up a perfect table for two for us by the window, with an incredible view. 3) We wanted some salad as we had been binging on hearty food throughout our Tuscan adventure, and if you've been to these parts, you know that even their salads have carbs. So when we expressed our desire for a green salad which was not on the menu, they had no reservations about cooking us up a perfect salad. 4) The chef came out to check on us to see if everything was ok. He walked to each table, which I have rarely seen. 5) When we were leaving, I asked if I could take my bottle of sparkling water with me. It was late at night and I was doubtful of finding a place to find water. The restaurant actually gave me a whole new bottle to take with me. Now how about the food? Really amazing!
