Walked there & was able to order right away & had the two pizzas in hand within 20 minutes. Great! The experience was so good that we decided to go back and experience eating out (or in? Eh, you get the idea) It's a small place but warm & inviting, even right when they open. If doesn't have the white table-cloth, fancy ambiance but feels more like a local joint where the food speaks for itself. The staff was friendly & helpful and in true Italian style helped us get our food & left us alone to enjoy. We started with the house wine, a smooth Sicilian red. The liter pitcher was very solid & lasted just fine through the meal and provided just enough for a dessert as well. First course: we shared the caprese "salad". Of course, this isn't a salad in the normal sense of the word as you would expect as it was composed of ultra fresh mozzarella, fresh sliced tomato all drizzled with some olive oil and a dusting of pepper & basil. Here, it is served with a warm, lightly salted & buttered flatbread instead of a traditional sliced baguette. Think Indian Naan if that helps. Very different but hit the right notes with us. Second course: I went for the calzone with prosciutto and cheese (I forget which kind) and when it came out all fluffy & covered in sauce, my heart stopped. It was huge! Thankfully it was partially air, so it did flatten out. Think a prosciutto and cheese pizza folded in half so the crust is on top & bottom. With sauce on top. So good. My wife had the basic spaghetti with pomodori sauce. Since she used the last of the flatbread to clean her plate of sauce I'd say it was also a hit. Can't comment fully since I didn't get a taste. Dessert was requested for take-away and to be honest it was our only misstep as it seemed not all of them are made fresh. Maybe if you plan to have it there, there's more options. The cake/gelato combo we had was tasty but just a little disappointed it can packaged. Oh well. All in all, even though it was one of the only places, it also turned out to be a really good one & we will probably be back again soon.

The staff was extremely helpful in understanding the menu and with recommendations for both food and wine. We started with 3 antipastos - the crustinis, the beef tongue and the herring carpaccio. All phenomenal. I would never order beef tongue typically, but trust me do it! It's delicious! Then we had the artichoke lasagne, roasted chicken and rabbit penne. Again, all fantastic. We ended the evening with the chocolate cake that was light, airy, and gone within a minute .

Quite simply, this will be a "Top 10" dining experience for you. Maybe Top 10 forever or "Top 10"…read moreof the year (if you dine out a lot). Upon getting ready to leave, the proprietor and our server asked how everything was. My reply was "Perfect" - and it was. They humbly said "perfect is reserved for God". Very fair. So that is where I said "Top 10." It will be in your Top 10 also. Everything was prepared there - everything. I tried some things I would never try in the US, and they were all delicious. We were with 2 older children, who often have different taste buds than adults, and they loved it. If you dine there, ask for their recommendations and do not be afraid to try something new. If I am anywhere near Firenze (Florence for my US folks), Da Delfina will absolutely be a stop for a "almost perfect" meal. If you're vising Florence, drive out to the countryside, enjoy the beauty, and have an exceptional meal at Da Delfina. I can make a very safe wager that it will be in your Top 10 also.
