The chief makes the Best Brisket I ever tasted in my Life..,,,
    Lindsay H.

Well, it was my first time here ever! It was during the Manayunk food truck Fest. We were thirsty and wanted some libations for on the go. So we came to Pitchers pub and got two beers. The bartender Ean was so nice to us , I told him we would be back for a LIT, Long Island Iced Tea. After a nice walk we came back and ordered, but not knowing we had to stay because you can't walk out with those drinks. Sitting there drinking, I needed something to eat, so I won't get too tore up from the excellent drink, so I ordered the brisket over fries! MY GOD! That BBQ was the best I ever had! It was so good I had to ask "who Made This?" It was Big Rube! I don't know him, never saw him before. That's how stupid I was! Until now!!!!!

This is the type of place that as soon as you walk in the bartender makes you feel at home and like you've lived around the corner for years. Came here just to get to know the area and have a drink after too much amish delights on the other side of town and fell in love. I am one of those annoying touristy people that loves to try the funky bar menu drinks YET I don't like them to be too sweet or watered down. Needless to say, the bartender was extremely helpful in having me pick a drink that I would like (the spiked lemonade) AND made some modifications to it, so that by the end of my first Mason Jar's worth - I was feeling pretty nice. Add to the friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices some R.Kelley that was playing and then the random guy that started belching it out ("I beleive I can flyyyyyyyyy")- this made me a beleiver. Finally, I had asked our very awesome (and cute) bartender for a different shot to celebrate my boo's PhD acceptance and not only did she make some awesome Midori concoctions.....she gave it to us on the house. Cheers to that!

I'm surprised I have yet to review this place. It's a prime HH (or any hour) stop for my best friend and I. You can't beat a stellar draft list and pub food to match. I always find something different to try on the list (usually about 30 options with many being local), and the HH discounts are a great deal. I'm pretty sure they're $3 during it, but it might be four. Either way, I only need two or three to be a happy little lady (doesn't mean I always stop there). As for the the food, I would definitely consider it upscale bar. They always have a few specials on the chalkboard *reminisces about the fried chicken Mac n' cheese* but otherwise their main menu is great as well. My only complaint is their buffalo chicken egg rolls definitely don't contain buffalo... girl. Whatchu doin'? Well otherwise, I highly recommend giving them a try, but maybe not on a Friday night during the school year. Unless you like that kinda scene I guess ‍

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

I got back to my hotel my second but I found a hair. Like a fatty I threw it to the side and kept eating it anyways. Unlike a true fatty, I didn't finish it. So unholy for a Mac and cheese lover like myself... but it was too acidic for me. I couldn't keep eating it. So I'm basing this review solely on the food. The service seemed ok? They seemed nice, but can't judge that as I did take out.

Some new items on the menu so I figured I would go through a new review:…read more Carrot Soup: This replaces their old root vegetable soup, and they thankfully kept it vegetarian. It was much better than their root vegetable soup, and I was quite fond of that soup. It's honestly nothing like anything else on the menu. It has an indian? maybe? taste to it. It's so good. there is these juicy white raisins inside, some sliced almonds (not treenut friendly), and some sort of white yogurt sauce with micro greens. really a fantastic flavor pallet and the actual soup texture is smooth minus the toppings. Cashew Hummus: okay so here's my thing. I find that this restaurant in particular does such a disservice with their menu item descriptions. Based off of the description of this dish, I would think it's probably decent at best, and might not even order it. luckily I had a sixth sense to know this would be amazing. it's truly so good. it's a hummus layer topped with a bunch of seasoned roasted vegetables and chickpeas. The flavors are great and the textures are also great. I wouldn't have known it was cashew hummus if you didn't tell me. it's honestly not that large, so if you really like vegtables and hummus i'd get your own or split with only one person. if everyone is demure, it could go four ways. also! I don't think it comes with bread. it didn't come with bread this recent visit, but I am not sure if that was a mistake or that's how it is. But, to be safe, i'd save your bread you get at the begining to use for this. this is a must get every time I go. Dandelion salad: I only order this for my welsh rarebit. I like to eat my welsh rarebit with some of the salad since the acid cuts the fatty cheese. but, I will say, it's a very good salad. my favorite part is the thinly sliced celery pieces. it has a bunch of varying greens, celery, avocado, cucumber. all dressed in a lemony dressing. it's very simplistic and that's why I think it's so good. it's quite large, and would be a great "for the table" order so that everyone has some fresh bites with their rich entrees. Welsh Rarebit: my favorite. if you don't know what welsh rarebit is, it's basically fancy cheese toast. think proper fondue cheese with Worcestershire, mustard, maybe guinness, melted on a thick piece of toast. so an open faced fancy grilled cheese. it's two big slices of toast. could easily be shared for the table but I prefer my own order. if you get this I recommend also getting the dandelion salad and eating them together. Chocolate Set: I haven't tried their other desserts, but I just know they are a waste of time compared to this. the chocolate set is a dense chocolate mousse with earl gray ice cream, chocolate nibs, and a few orange slices. it's so simple but so so good. texturally, amazing. the smoothness of the mousse with the crunchy nibs is the perfect contrast. the orange is bright, the ice cream is just great on its own and does so well paired with everything else. it can be shared 4 ways if you have demure people. my family of four just orders two and we get half each. that works for us, we would never be able to share one. all in all great service as always, great food, and obviously a gorgeous interior.

The fish and chips were pretty good too - among the better ones Inhave tried. Cute spot with nice decorations. Would be great for a date or small groups. If I happened to be in the area, I'd be interested in grabbing a seat at the bar next time.
