Tony's Takeaways is your classic Chinese takeaway store. I went there for the first time last week…read moreand, as always, decided to test them by purchasing a spring roll. Spring rolls are the ultimate way to determine if a takeaway store is worth returning to, so naturally I had to get one at Tony's. And I admit, I was a little disappointed. Much to my surprise, the spring roll tasted like cinnamon. I couldn't really figure it out. It wasn't terrible as such, just unexpected.... That being said, the fried rice was brilliant. It wasn't oily and didn't make you feel guilty for eating most of the container - which I did. The portions were good and prices were what you'd expect - about $10 for fried rice. Tony's chips were also pretty good - crisp and crunchy; just the way I like them, and with a good amount of salt too. There's nothing worse than not enough salt on your hot chips, so while their spring rolls were a bit strange, you can rely on Tony's to supply good fried rice, sausages and chips. Bonus: Tony himself is pretty cool. He was very smiley and chatty and made the wait for the food fly by

The ingredients…read morethey use at this place are not as fresh as others, and its more pita bread than anything else. The kebab is so dry I thought I was going to choke on it. The service from the lady is really bad, Im not sure what I did to her but she stared at me like I had just burned and pillaged her village. I was also short changed, which I had to ask her to pay me. You have been warned. FYI if you want superb friendly service and even better heavenly juicy kebabs, try gellata (gelata?), its my favorite place in auckland. I am in no way or form associated with them and this is my honest review

This takeaway is just up the road from me but I hardly ever go there. I got fish and chips here…read morewhen I first moved into the area and I found it disappointing. If you are out this way, you are better off going to the Blue Lagoon on Roberts Road if you want fish and chips. I tried their Chinese food as well and again I was non-plussed - what I ate was quite greasy and I did not enjoy it. We're not exactly spoiled for choice for eateries in Te Atatu South but I usually venture further afield (eg to Lincoln Road) if I want takeaway on the weekend. Having said that, I went in and got a portion of hot chips not so long ago and I must say they were quite good. We could do with a good takeaway in the area but until that comes along we have to make do with this joint.

The food comes out really quickly and it's always hot, and they'll cater it to your own specifications. The only thing is that they are a tad bit expensive for a take away shop, and they've put their prices up a few times too. They can get pretty busy because they are quite popular in the area, but they've got enough seats, a TV and heaps of magazines to read while you wait for your order.

Located on Te Atatu Road in Te Atatu Penninsula, anyone who lives in the area and enjoys late night…read more(or very early morning) Chinese and takeaways will know Haddad's. Haddad's is a cheap and cheerful little place, known for their crispy hot chips and delicious burgers. To be perfectly honest, every time I've ordered anything from Haddad's it's been well after midnight and my judgement probably wasn't at its best - but I've always enjoyed my food there. Being open so late, Haddad's gets a lot of business especially over the weekend, so you can always be sure your food is fresh. This is a bonus as with many of these little Asian takeaways you can't be sure how long your meat has sat in the freezer or your chips in the fryer.... The staff are another bonus of Haddad's - they seem to get a kick out of their late night customers. Always smiling and chatty, they make your Haddad's experience a good time.
