Consistently clean, nicely stocked, well staffed with workers always buzzing around, and they are one of the few that always has YOO HOO, my favorite drink on the road. It was about that time where I had to pull over. Not nearly enough morning coffee so I was eager to pour myself a big 24 oz. I'd been a member of their rewards program for years, but frankly, because it was geared to truckers, I'd never gotten much value from it. Free coffee after 10 fill-ups or something. So I was pleasantly surprised to see signs all over the store about their new app and the benefits you could get with it. I didn't have time to download and peruse it, but looks worthwhile. Made a beeline for the coffee and Whoa! What are all these newfangled gadgets I hadn't seen before? I've always loved Pilot coffee. Good variety and every additive you could dream up. But this! In addition to the multiple carafes, they had two new (to me) machines that provided even more variety. Unique blends like Rainforest, Organic Sumatra and Peruvian. I can't be sure, but the machines might even grind the beans fresh. Pilot has clearly stepped up their coffee game! It was the Texas Pecan, however, that beckoned me. Nut , vanilla, honey and molasses. Make mine a double! Topped it off with a light layer of vanilla cappuccino. Divine.

I like Pilot gas stations in Texas because usually they have good prices, food options and more. This is a decent Pilot gas station which needs a bit of a upgrade. This is sort of like a hole in the wall gas station but surprisingly has Subway, Wendy's and Pizza options to eat. The Wendy's had a drive thru area as well. I did not eat here however because it seemed not that hygienic. I got gasoline from here and the prices are good for the area. Stopped here on the way back from Austin and traveling to Dallas Texas. It's fairly close to the highway and is within a mile after taking the exit. Across the street there is a McDonald's which seemed like a better option than stopping inside here to eat.

I purchased $30 in gas today, and when I checked my credit card online, I noticed they added a charge of $151.00. That can be done with debit cards, but never credit cards. Although this charge may be there for 48 hours, it's something that I will have to check on until it's resolved. This policy is unacceptable! Never ever buy gas there unless you prepay with cash.

But I figured we'd show up, see that it was wrong and move along. Nope. It really was 20 cents cheaper than every other gas station along our journey. This made for a decent deal when fuel is my biggest expense when I travel and I'm buying 20 or so gallons of gas for the Sprinter van just about every day. The station was tidy, easy to navigate and I saved an extra 3 cents for using Walmart Pay. I'm sure Walmart save even more than that in lower cost for fraud but I'll take three cents. And while the other one is great and fabulous, this one is one star better. A huge selection of baked goods, coffee, decor, clothing, drinks and more. The Kissing Pig Cafe has so many food options, too! Mrs. K. has not had a kolache in years and she's now pescatarian which presents certain challenges. It would be awesome if they had some kolaches with just cheese or were sweet, so while I had one with ham and cheese and one with sausage in cheese, she was at least able to enjoy a strawberry and cream danish as well as the always awesome poppyseed kolache. It's possible that a pecan square was purchased for later consumption, too. The self-serve coffee was great and we enjoyed all of this inside at a comfortable table. And after that, more shopping. So much great stuff to choose from here and very, very clean restrooms. If you're overwhelmed by that massive baked goods counter, just ask for recommendations. They'll get you sorted for sure! But if you want brisket, look out! I've never seen a more miserly portion offered for 13 dollars. I understand that brisket is expensive now. But I still get it at various restaurants and have to say that it was a five dollar sandwich for thirteen bucks. Additionally, the sandwich maker apparently does not know what and order for "moist" brisket means. Mine proved rather dry.
