I love how the restrooms have red and green lights to let you know if they are available. There's also plenty of parking and lots of pumps, so getting in and out is easy. Overall, Buc-ee's is certainly not just a gas station--it's an experience. Consider a free to visit attraction! We were heading up north on a road trip and even though we would be passing other Buc-ees locations, we decided to check this one out since it was new to us. I like visiting different locations to see what their themes are regarding designs based on the location. For example, the Daytona location has race car flags in their themed items. I did not find anything here that was distinct to St. Augustine though. I mean it could be because I was so distracted with the chaos that I didn't see anything. Like any other locations, this location also has several food options and is always stocked up. You can find almost everything here. They even have seasonal themed items for the holidays! I have been to this location I think 2-3 times and it is always busy, like all locations. The cashiers work very quickly so the lines move fast.

Nobody is confusing this place with the Disney World of gas stations. But Busy Bee absolutely wants you to know it studied the Buc-ee's playbook in great detail and copied enough homework to pass the class. And honestly? Respect. After hours on the road, I pulled in needing gas, caffeine, food, a restroom, and probably some emotional reassurance from the highway gods. Busy Bee delivered on most of it. First off, the bathrooms were clean. Not "gas station clean." Actually clean. That alone immediately moves a roadside stop up at least one full star in America's travel grading system. Then came the snack exploration phase. They had homemade jerky, specialty snacks, random road trip impulse purchases, and enough "well I wasn't planning to buy this but here we are" items to keep me wandering around longer than intended. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a drink and somehow leave holding candied pecans, smoked sausage, and a giant bag of pork rinds you'll later regret in silence. The overall vibe was solid too. Convenient. Clean. Easy stop. Good energy from the place itself. The employees though? Let's just say the staff had the collective facial expression of people who may have originally applied at Buc-ee's and ended up here after the universe made other plans. Nobody was rude. But there was definitely an emotional support shift happening behind the counter. Still, for a highway stop, Busy Bee absolutely gets the job done. It's a good place to refuel both your gas tank and your stomach before heading back into the chaos of interstate survival. They clearly have a problem with some of the local people, some homeless, some just trying to take advantage of the store... On every visit I've been there, I've been approached for money from the men and women hanging out front. On this most recent visit, the store was smartly playing opera music loudly at the exterior of the store, it appeared to reduce the number of people just hanging out. While I was inside, one gentleman did try to pour himself a soda and walk straight out the door without paying - the cashier was professional and direct in requesting him not to steal from the store. So I do credit 7-Eleven for their efforts to maintain a positive environment, noting that they still have some opportunity to improve.
