Since moving to Midland in June of 2025, I have had the pleasure of stopping in to Pi's Asian Express a handful of times and I have to say that they do a really nice job with both the food and the service. Absolutely filthy! If you ever wanted to experience in person the poster child for a dirty restaurant this is the place for you. Ordered the Schezwan Chicken and the Hibachi Chicken. Both dishes lacked any flavor other than soy sauce and salt. Fried rice is NOT white rice slathered in sir sauce. Vegetables were soggy and limp like noodles. Waitstaff was more Interested in their cell phones than providing customer service or cleaning. This place wasn't even worth photographing the food. Save your money and potential food contamination. Restroom was covered in human excrement. Clearly people have had reactions to the food. read more

Disappointed in portion size the last several times we've been there. Portion size use to be at least 2x what it is now. Flavor is good. Prices have increased too. Feel bad for waitstaff due to COVID restrictions. FYI-I've always had good service at this establishment. We enjoy another Chinese restaurant across town owned by a different company. I know you can't always expect very much for takeout, but I love the sauce on the orange chicken. That was really the only good part. Most of my chicken was very chewy and the fried rice tasted strange and mostly flavorless. The egg drop soup had next to no flavor as well. The crab meat cheese Rangoon had very little filling and were undercooked (not golden in color, just doughy with a small crunchy bit on the tips). Not very pleasant. Have always loved this place!! One of the few places in the area for great Korean food... Bibimbap in a stone bowl, spicy soondubu, and bulgogi is a personal favorite. Plenty of other options too!! Great service as well... Pro tip: go on the off hours so it isn't too busy and zero wait;) read more

Well, I am certainly glad they were open in this pandemic. Pi's express isnot the Pi's I have come to love. The service was quick and friendly and had good prices. When I called they were out of three different requests which was disappointing in itself. I did get my hot and sour soup, crap Rangoon's and an order of chicken satay. The hot and sour soup was very sour (vinegary) and not hot (spicy) just bland. The chicken satay was more just chicken tenders deep fried with no seasoning just bland. Excellent restaurant! This is my sons and my favorite place to eat! They offer Japanese, Thai, Korean and Chinese food. We love the hibachi shrimp and chicken. They also have yum yum sauce. UPDATE: Have since eaten here twice, around lunch time and everything was spot one. Service was great everything prepared well and hot. A keeper. First time here THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. The past few times we've gotten food from here it hasn't been as good as it use to be. My boyfriends daughter and I have both gotten sick after eating here the past two times. Usually a go to place serving consistent dishes.Tonight was a disaster.! Fresh rolls were so soggy that they fell apart when I picked one up. I say one because not only was it soggy, falling apart and had a taste and odor that made me suspect they may be spoiled. The chicken in the cashew chicken was very dry as if it was old. The chicken in my Hunan chicken was extremely dry and hard. So dry that I needed to take a drink of water to get it down. Not enjoyable and unable to finish my dinner. After throwing the dishes away I had the thought that I was served leftovers beyond the serve by date. Times are challenging for all and I try to continue to support local business and those in the service industry. I really love coming here, yes its not 100% traditional but who cares? The food is good and that is the important part, my mother and I come in we love getting the fresh rolls, the bimbim bop and well we love it all. I recomend this place if they want something thats a little bit different then the norm. Get the kimchi it is house made and really, really good. Will be going again soon. read more

Ordered two adult meals and two children meals. About 2pm. The egg drop soup, egg rolls, crab cheese we're okay. I got garlic chicken with fried rice for an entree it was just something lacking in it. General Tao's chicken had a lot of batter but little chicken. The kids meals teriyaki chicken was okay. They refuse to switch the rice for noodles which is silly. I added an order of noodles for my granddaughters. The women's bathroom floor was filthy. And there was broken tiles in the entryway of the restaurant, which would be an easy fix. The service was lacking but I think a lot of it has to do with management and not the wait staff. Quick and fair priced Asian-American take out foods. For under $40 we got sesame chicken (came with with sweet n' sour soup, fried rice, and an egg roll), teriyaki chicken (came with fried rice and grilled veggies), and 2 bowls of Thai noodle soup or Pho. I would get the Pho again, although the beef was a bit "interesting looking" and the soup was a tad oily. A good stop for take out with semi-health conscious options on a busy night. read more

Pi's is an amazing Asian food resturant, and one of my favorite places to eat when I am in Midland. They offer Japanese, Thai, Korean and Chinese food. My favorite is the general tso chicken, which is spicy-sauced and fried white chicken, served with you choice of white or fried rice, egg roll or crab ragoon, hot and sour or egg drop soup. They do not skimp with portions, and they have an amazing yum yum sauce which is one of my favorite sauces on the planet. Even though my chicken comes sauced, I still add it to my rice and use it for my chicken because it is that good. I have yet to try somthing from Pi's that I did not enjoy. A must try if you are in Midland. Side note, the yum yum sauce only comes free of charge with any Hibachi food choice, you can add it to any other meal for an extra charge, but I promise it is worth it. read more

I was surprised to find an Asian Fusion restaurant in Midland. Not that there's anything wrong with Midland, but most smaller towns just stick to the basics. My sister and I were on our way back to Ann Arbor when we were hungry and decided to make a pit stop. Pi's is located very close off the highway so it's a nice alternative from fast food. They have Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Korean choices on their menu. We started with the Chicken Satay and Crab Rangoon. The crab was really good but the satay wasn't. The chicken was overdone and the sauce wasn't knock my socks off good. I ordered shrimp pad thai and I'll admit, that was really good. Sometimes I get pad thai that doesn't have enough sauce, or the noodles are over done and mushy. All in all, it was ok. Definitely better then drive thru, but not the best I've ever had. read more

For a town the size of Midland, there are a surprising number of Asian restaurants and though a lot of them are owned by the same people, I quickly figured out which restaurants to go to depending on what I was craving. If you want Mongolian Beef, go to China Palace. BUT if you want Bibimbap or Bulgogi, you MUST go to Pi's Asian express. Don't get the Bibimbap to go...I don't even know if you can. It's this dish that comes with rice, beef, carrots, some other vegetables, and an egg on top. The fun of it is that it kind of cooks in front of you in a lava rock bowl (or at least that's what I think that bowl is made of). You mix it all together and it's kind of like fried rice...but more delicious. The bulgogi is another beef dish...Korean I think...and just has a great flavor and a dish I preferred over many of the others that were offered. There crab rangoons here are also quite delicious and was usually a must order if we were sitting in. I lived in Midland for 3 years and consider myself a connoisseur of Asian-American food so if I were you, I would take my word on this one. read more

I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp combo - my chicken resembled and tasted like the tongue of an old Army boot, and I am still afraid that the shrimp is going to give me iodine poisoning...the rice was clumpy in a bad way and I could not deal with the teenage waitress 'tude, UGH. This place could've been really good, except that it wasn't. Let's start with the service. It was really good. I didn't have to constantly ask for a refill on my drink, she saw it was almost empty and she'd bring me a fresh one. Kudos for attentiveness. She was pleasant all around. Now for the food. The crab cheese was a bit small, but tasty. The vegetable dumplings were good, not great, but good. My wife's hibachi steak was while and that's about it. The yum yum sauce was, interesting. I ordered the princess chicken. It was absolute garbage. First, if didn't come out hot. It was luke warm. Strike one. It was very low on flavor and most definitely not spicy as advertised. Strike two. The fried rice was also garbage. It was old! I took a bite expecting soft rice and was unpleasantly surprised by crunchy, dried out rice that had obviously been sitting for a while. You want to eat that crap at home? Fine, more power to you. But there's no way I'm paying for it. The hot sour soup? Yeah, it was a bowl of vinegar with tofu and egg. Garbage. The only, and I mean only redeeming quality I experience was the service. Like I said, she was attentive, and concerned that my food was not of a higher quality. A bit disappointed. Haven't been here in a year or more, but remember it as quaint, with good food. I ordered Thai pad noodles with shrimp. Dining room floor was disgustingly dirty. Server was friendly and polite but please don't stand behind the cash register eating your dinner while I am sitting there waiting for mine. Thai dish, although marked as "spicy" selection on the menu was bland. I mean really bland. It was a plate full of noodles, about a dozen small shrimp (the kind you get bagged in the frozen section at the supermarket), with a few peanuts (4, maybe) and some over-cooked scrambled eggs (at least my best description of that last ingredient). If this is representative of Thai cuisine then i have no interest in further tasting. Although my preconception of Pi's was as a step above your typical Chinese take-out, I would say that is the best comparison I can make. What this place has in visual aesthetics it lacks heavily in authenticity. The restaurant itself is clean and the food is presented very well. In general, the food tastes about average -- nothing really amazing. As the description suggest, it aims to quench the craving for East Asian cuisine; however, that's all it will really do. The pho was very bland and does not look/taste like pho found at any given vietnamese restaurant (not a good thing). The hibachi grilled items were okay, but the point of hibachi/teppanyaki is to get a show out of it as they cook in front of you. The chicken skewers were alright, but the siu mai was nothing like what I've had in my life (in a bad way). Additionally, they have the siu mai/shu mai listed as a japanese appetizer, which is fairly insulting. Siu mai is a Cantonese Chinese dish that is meant to be part of a Dim Sum meal, in which case it is more than just an appetizer. It's embarrassing to see blatant misinformation being spread right on their menu. All in all, the food isn't bad, but at the same time it isn't great. There are better, more authentic options now within a 20 minute drive (Mount Pleasant). I would only suggest to people that are desperate for East Asian food. I'm honestly quite annoyed with the siu mai. If you're going to serve foreign foods and want to explain their origins in the menu, at least do your research. If you're picky like me and care for authenticity in culinary culture and tastes, take a pass on this restaurant and look for better options. The food is decent, but what really pisses me off is they claim to provide the service of delivery... After calling in, for over a month, and still no delivery, I asked to speak with a manager. The excuse I was given is that they are short staffed, and need people in the kitchen, rather than out on delivery. Why advertise a service that you no longer provide, and what makes you think you're the only restaurant that gets short staffed and doesn't have to provide services based on that alone? Even the mutants at Jimmy John's deliver, despite being 1 driver, and understaffed. How is this not false advertising!? read more

Pi's Asian Express is a solid option for Asian-esque food in the veritable restaurant desert that is Midland, Mi. Your options are Chinese, Thai, and Japanese. You can get some stir-fry type things, bibimbap and other Korean things, (sort of) sushi, and some teriyaki. These are by no means "authentic" or the best that you've ever had...but they are really good for what it is. Think: Excellent Food Court fare geared towards the American diner with great service and decent, casual atmosphere. The service is fast and accommodating (e.g. our brought us a double order of meat because the kitchen was taking "longer" than normal...it had been about 5 minutes), the food is tasty, the portions are generous, and the price is right. You get a lot of food for less than $10 - so much so that the abstemious dinner can likely make 2 meals out of 1. I've dined in and done takeout from here. Both were satisfying experiences. Great place for a good, quick Asian meal. What I like best is the variety: Korean, Thai, Chinese. The food is flavorful and a authentic. A little pricy. $10 for a large bowel of Thai noodle soup. My experience is that the quality can vary from day to day. The service is friendly and efficient. Decor is comfortable. Lots of nice large windows to let the sun in. read more

The owner seams very passionate about her restaurant it's just too bad that nothing is good here down right to the crab cheese no flavor at all everything just taste so plane and bland. I ordered hibachi steak and shrimp it had a really weird smell to the meat and shrimp and my stomach started to hurt almost immediately.
