We came to Louisiana to eat catfish and they had it!…read more We got there about twenty or thirty minutes before closing time and the girl said that they were closed. I thought that was strange since they were cooking frantically and people were sitting in the dining room. She explained that the closing time is based on when the order will be ready and not when it is ordered. That was strange. But, this is Louisiana and they pride themselves in not following the conventions of the rest of the world. She did change her mind when we told her that we would take it to go and cooked us some huge plates of fried catfish. The coleslaw and French Fries were also very good.

The catfish is cut into thin strips that are seasoned and cooked to perfection. Just the way I like them. They apparently remove the dark streak that can give a fishy taste cause this catfish is awesome. The hush puppies were the best ever and for $0.30 each you can order more. They are also seasoned well and apparently homemade with just a slight jalapeño taste as well. LOVED THEM. Loved the coleslaw as well. My seasoned fries were not hot but we were a party of nine and I can forgive anything for perfect catfish. The locals apparently like the hamburgers since I saw a lot of them in the takeout bags.

Twilight zone time!!!!! We drive up to what we think is the diner and the big sign in front says "Dorothy and Debs Redneck Diner" and that they have moved to a new address and listed the address. "Y'all come back diner" was written on the glass which was covered with aluminium foil. It looks like a happening place with all the cars parked outside and people are coming and going, but with aluminium covering the glass you can't really tell so we go looking for the other place and it wasn't there! So.....we go back and decide to go ahead and walk in.... Sure enough it's a diner!!! Aesthetics are definitely not a redneck priority. Freezers out in the open and everything in disarray. The menu was not updated (Dorothy and Debs) and listed the hours on front and closed on Sunday, but we were there on Sunday!! But......in spite of all the confusion, it was the best breakfast we've had in a long time. Everything we had was great!! Eggs and bacon cooked to perfection. Sausage gravy and biscuits.. excellent!! We loved Y'all come back diner or Dorothy and debs...whatever your name!!!

Mom and Dad are in the back cooking, the college-aged son jumps in when he can -- this is the American dream on display. The family is incredibly welcoming and always recommending new dishes (I come here a lot, so I trust their picks). The beef jerky (as we Americans call it) is a Thai staple appetizer -- don't sleep on it. And if you've never tried curry, don't be scared of this creamy coconut soup with perfectly cooked chicken. My go-to recommendation? Panang curry -- it's a game-changer. Inside, there's a TV usually showing sports -- a small touch that makes the spot feel casual and homey. I've been to 100+ Thai restaurants, and not many do that. Small place, huge flavors, and a family running it with pride. This one's a gem.
