There are two ways in: the Treasure Island Beach side, which involves walking over a rocky cliff area, so definitely check tide levels before you go. The other option is a hidden residential staircase that leads down directly, but it's hit or miss and not always open. Parking can be a bit tricky. From the residential aide straight across meter parking. From the Montage Resort area paid parking nearby do not park in the plaza across you will get towed or ticketed. Once you make it down, it opens up into crystal clear water and a stunning stretch of beach. The tower itself is incredibly unique and photogenic, almost like something tucked into a seaside storybook. Just a heads up, it is not dog friendly. This place is as fantastical as it looks on social media. It took a while for me to find out how to get to it. The entrance is in a residential area, and you take some stairs between houses down. There are some sharp rocks being lapped with ways on the way there, so bring some flip flops to walk over to it. read more

So very cool! Definitely instagram worthy! This has been on my bucket list forever and finally made it! It was actually not to hard to get to. Few tips: park on PCH and walk into the residential neighborhood, there's a staircase somewhat hidden to access the beach. Take those staircase down and then walk north. Must go during mid or low tide otherwise the water level is too high to access. Also rocks are super sharp and slippery so do wear comfortable and grippy shoes. The tower is locked so you can't go inside. Just take a nice photo and call it a day. It was not too crowded when I visited there was a few people there hanging out. This location is worth a visit, but know it is tricky to find a parking space on PCH especially on weekends or in the summer. The location isn't where I thought it was going to be, so not near the main Laguna Beach, but you Google Maps will help you find the right streets (Victoria or Sunset Terrace) - but remember you need to park on PCH as the side streets do not have visitor parking. Once you get to the staircase the walk down is gorgeous and you will enjoy many beach views. The walk to the tower can be a little tricky at higher tide, so recommend bringing sturdy shoes to cross over rocks and potentially slippery/slick rocks. This location is absolutely beautiful and impossible to beat. The tower itself was built in 1926, but it looks like it could've been there for hundreds of years. It's a beautiful site to see and the backdrop with the ocean behind it is a truly great combination. It's on the rocks above Victoria Beach, and to get there you will have to walk down a short set of steep steps to get to the beach. It's not very difficult but this may be challenging if you have mobility issues. There aren't any parking spaces available in the neighborhood above the beach so the best thing to do is to park off PCH or on it. I would recommend to anyone visiting or living in the area because it's always a great day when you go down to the ocean, especially when you get to see a pirate tower. read more

This was a great find! We came here on a Tuesday evening around 6pm, which was perfect because there are two parking spots that are 10 minute zones until 6pm, so after that you can park there for a long time. We nabbed one of those spots and walked down the stairs. There are mats along the way for the flat parts so you don't slip. Once at the bottom, you walk out to the water and turn right and there is the tower! It truly looks like a pirate tower and makes for great photos, with the splashing waves. Along the way, you will see tide pools and if the tide is low, be able to access the tower itself. It is on private property so don't try to climb or get inside! read more

The pirate tower is a hidden gem that's pretty unique in Laguna Beach. I saw this on an instagram reel and wanted to check it out. Navigating to Pirate Tower on google maps sends you pretty close to the location. You park on PCH near Victoria drive. Plenty of parking at 9 am on a Sunday. Be careful crossing some of the sections. It's not too bad during low tide but you can get seriously hurt if you're not careful. I recommend wearing sandals because the rocks hurt on your bare foot. This tower is a must see landmark in Laguna Beach, specifically located via Victoria Beach, or "Vic Beach" as known to locals. We personally refer to it as "The Witches Tower". There is also a wave made pool of water for kids to play in next to it. My kids literally could have played there all day. Not the easiest to get to, very limited street parking and there is a steep paved hill you walk down. An easy option is to utilize the free trolley in Laguna and skip parking. Lifeguards are very attentive and were quick on the draw to guide kids out of any rough tides. 10/10 recommend for families. read more

If you ever find yourself in Laguna Beach you have to make this one of your stops. The Victoria Pirate Tower at the Victoria Beach. You park on the PCH and walk down through the small street to the beach. I believe that street is Sunset Terrace and at the end of that road you will find the stairs to go down to Victoria Beach. This a residential area so be respectful and quiet while you walk through. Once you are at the beach turn right and walk straight to the tower. It's beautiful and amazing to see this old construction that is still standing. The whole area is breathing. There is a concrete pool right by the tower that gets filled with salt water from the waves and makes it a great spot for kids to play in and why not adults too. That's where I spent most of my time while at Victoria Beach. I absolutely love it here. Laguna Beach is my most favorite in Southern California with so many beautiful beaches along the PCH. read more

Visited on 5/9/2021 around 2 pm and it wasn't as crowded. Not bad at all. Compare to this , Laguna Beach was total chaos. Here is the best way to get here since the stairway is closed. Park at either side of PCH #1 near Victoria Pl and walk under the highway and follow the direction. Walk down the Dumont Dr and all the way down the alley to the beach. Its short walk to your right. Just an absolutely beautiful place. The tower itself is a bit lackluster, but the area surrounding the tower is beautiful. Parking is free if you can find it - otherwise you might have to trek down the beach and pay for parking. I ended up finding a park of sorts to park at with very reasonable parking rates ($1 or $2 per hour, don't remember exactly). I hate paying for parking, but this was worth it. We ended up being further from this exact location - but the normal entry way to the tower was closed anyhow. I went to The Pirate tower with my two dogs yesterday. Such a lovely day and less people since it's on weekday. Thanks for review from someone to give me the details how to get there. So I parked on PCH near the Dizz's As Is restaurant or bar? and use stairs to go down at Victoria Dr to Dumond Dr. As you walk down Dumond Dr, you will see the Victoria beach. Once you get the beach, walk to Right. Some rocks there but even kids or grandma can make it. Don't forget to wear flip flaps or shoes. I saw one group with bare feet, and they looked miserable. Lol It's not much walk and you see the tower. It's dog friendly except summer season with leash. The beach is so beautiful and some people are there but very calm not like Huntington Beach or Long Beach.(I still love these places but too crazy for my dogs.) After we took some pics of tower, we walk on the Victoria beach and enjoyed nice ocean breeze and saw some friendly paw friends and people. I definitely go there again but I will go early so I don't have to struggle for parking situation. I got there around 11a on Wednesday and parking was super easy. This is absolutely my fav beach ever! I love to come here and spend a relaxing day with the most beautiful piece of the coast. A bit more private and very clean! The Pirate tower is a bonus to add to the uniqueness of this beach. The tide comes up so don't sit too close but plenty of room to stretch out close enough. This is a cute little spot in Laguna. A LITTLE underwhelming but it was still pretty. The only downside to this would be the parking. There is street parking but it will be a mission to find it. My boyfriend had to circle 3 times before we found one. Once you do find parking, there will be about a mile walk depending on how far away you find a spot. If you park on the side away from the beach, there is no crosswalk so you have to fun across the street which sucks. It seems like the cars never stop coming so be patient, safe, and run fast! If you type the address in Google maps you will be prompted to go down a hill in a neighborhood. Follow that hill all the way down & you will reach a little late that takes you down a few flights of stairs. Once you get to the end, go right and a bit past the rocks and you will run into the tower. The tide can get high at night so just be careful. The water is the most beautiful shade of blue, one of the prettiest Socal beaches. The beach can get a little crowded on weekends so I would try to get there early if possible. Cool spot. Last time I went, it wasn't too crowded. I was able to take photos and relax to watch the sunset. I did see 3 different couples getting their pics taken with their photographers. Must be a common area for wedding/engagement photos. I did get soaked walking near the tower, so I would recommend coming here when the tide is still low. read more

Second times a charm. I was finally able to visit this place after attempting it for the second time. I followed Steven's review down below and was able to find this gem. If you have done some slight research, the stairway path down is closed. What does that mean?! You must find another entrance. Parking is slim, but that does not mean it does not exist. You must find parking along either side of PCH 1. Walk down the underpass and or go through the neighborhood respectfully. (first time around I drove down the neighborhood but couldn't find parking and my bf was irritated so we left). DO yourself a favor and check the tide tables. I had 30 minutes before high tide but it was my only chance to come see this place again. It was all worth it! We made it mama! I did get wet about knee deep, but it was all worth it! We ran, we jumped, we screamed. It was all worth the adventure and and the tide tables were correct! Oh did I mention?! The way up can be exhausting if you are either out of shape or not used to incline. read more

A hidden gem in Laguna Beach. Before stumbling upon this place on Yelp, I have never heard of Victoria Pirate Tower. I am glad that we found this place where we can enjoy the beauty of Southern California beaches and take pictures with a little history. The pictures we took created so many comments and inquiries from our friends asking about where this place is. The tower and the rocks surrounding the tower make the whole place look like we are in an European beach somewhere. A cool place to be indeed. The best picture opp time is during sunset. The tide is low and the sunset view from here is just stunning. Especially if you come at the time with big waves, the splashes from the wave hitting the rocks create a very dramatic effect on your photos. The tower itself is not a big deal but the scenery is spectacular. Since this is an obscure place, not to many people come to the tower. You have the whole place to yourself to watch the sunset and enjoy the ocean. I heard the tower was built by a Senator in the 20's as a way to get down to the beach and later was sold to a pirate enthusiast and made it into a story telling and treasure hunting castle. Getting to this place is a bit challenging as it's hidden underneath a neighborhood. The best way to get here is to park your car along PCH next to Montage hotel and follow the beach access stairs of the hotel to the Victoria beach. Then from there walk about a quarter of a mile to get to the tower. read more

Great little spot to get away from the crowds. Park on PCH like most of the reviews say. It's a little hump to the beach depending where you park. As of 4-2-2021 the actual stairs to get down to the tower is closed so you will have come down Dumond dr. Once down by the sand make a right past the rocks, be careful too. Once past the rocks you'll see the tower in all its glory. Not sure the story behind it but it's a cool structure on the beach. Take some pictures and soak in the waves crashing in the rocks. Nice little day excursion. The family had fun. The fun part is going back up the hill to PCH. Haha! read more

Took my son here today and had a blast. The area where we were was not too packed with people but there was a decent amount. The water was so clean and clear! It was nice they had two lifeguard stations and both had people monitoring the beach and water to make sure everything was good, which was nice since there were some decent size waves and little kids present. It's a good day when you don't have to use filters to make the water look clean because it just is! You can't go inside the pirate tower but it's a great place for photo op. You have to park on the street (PCH and Victoria) and walk about a block to the beach (through residential area). Also, you will need to walk down a long staircase so don't carry too much stuff. No bathrooms here but the view is great. Victoria Pirate Tower What a great small escape. Less crowded than Laguna's main beach. And a great little side trip. Read reviews on parking. Definitely don't park in the neighborhood. However we were able to park on the main highway (S Coast Highway) and just walked down as it wasn't a far walk. Be mindful of your steps as the path isn't smooth to get to the pirate tower from the steps. And is quite rocky. Don't even try to go to the Pirate tower should there be high tide. Safety first. The pirate tower itself is locked, however it was great to read up on the history of it. Spoiler alert: wasn't built by a pirate. read more

Landmark that is easy to access from neighborhood walk way... do not park near here because there is no public parking and the neighborhood have no parking sign everywhere. It is about 0.1mile from the steps to the right with easy access. I would not recommend going on high tide if you have kids or people who can not move well only because the waves can creep up to you ad it did to me. There is no bathrooms and there is about 30 or more steps going down and kind of steep depending on how you look at it. It is between houses so please respect other people's property. read more
