Paid $50 to tune up a chain saw, guy at the desk asked if I would like a call if it needs more…read morework. Of course I want a call if a $275 chainsaw needs additional money dropped on it or I would have bought a new chainsaw. After a week I stopped by the store to find out if the saw was done, clerk checked around and finally said, "no, it needed a part and it was included in the $50 that I already paid". After two weeks of waiting, finally got a call to let me know it's done, went into the store and Bob grabs the saw and starts typing into the register and comes back with, "that will be $54 and change". Told Bob no I will not pay that as I never authorized additional charges, Bob walks away with the chainsaw and said he will need to get it resolved with the staff. As he enters their back room you can hear them talking it over asking if their name is on it and so on. After waiting around 10 minutes to get on with my day, Bob comes around from the store area and said "he spoke to the owner and the owner is not budging on the additional charges". I asked Bob to get the owner on the phone so I could talk to them regarding the issue. Bob obviously either didn't talk to the owner or knew that there are laws that protect consumers Wisconsin Statue 423.205(5) [If the merchant has performed any services pursuant to a consumer approval transaction prior to its cancellation, the merchant is entitled to no compensation.] when it comes to matters like this. Long story short I proceeded to walk away after Bob threatened to call the police, which I should have asked him to do to actually resolve the matter however I proceeded to leave but stopped by the front service desk to ask if they had a manager available. The customer service person was very open and checked around to see what she could do however Bob ended up coming to the front end of the store with the saw in hand and asked me to follow him outside. I did walk out of the store with him which in turn Bob handed me the saw and asked me not to return to the store again. I acknowledged him and agreed it would not be an issue and I would never give the store a chance again based on his interaction and the service tech not providing the necessary quote prior to any service work above the money I had already paid. Got home with the saw and gave it a pull and it did start up and lasted approximately a dozen or so cuts into 6" tree branches. At which time it started to do the same thing it did prior to entering Qualheims. Lesson from this experience is that Qualheims does break the law with extorting people into paying additional fees without approval to charge the fees, Qualheims also does not fix the things that are broken like they say they will, and save yourself the money, time, and headaches of dealing with Bob because the guy just doesn't understand the law. Not to mention they did not torque down the screws they removed to access the carburetor they insisted they replaced. So now I have a saw that runs the same way it did prior bringing it to Qualheims and loose pieces that may be missing or still needs to be fastened because this business provides quality, professional services to their customers. If I was being petty I would have contacted my credit card company to fight the charges I've already paid however never going back to Qualheims was the best suggestion Bob could make and sharing this with the world may help Bob understand that his actions will forever be documented for everyone to know. If Qualheims is charging you for services that you never agreed to because they neglected or negated their responsibility to contact you to approve additional charges and will not return your equipment I would personally hire an attorney to resolve the issue in the future and sue for your property and attorney fees. There's a reason why the law above exists, its because of people like Bob and the owner of Qualheims(if Bob truly did make an effort to reach out to them).
