He and his team are easy to work with, they keep us apprised of options and suggest better ways to achieve results and they find creative solutions. We have an older quirky home that is always needing something. Ryan and team have rebuilt and reroofed our large (and old) chicken coop, built a fence, a deck railing, opened up a wall so we'd have room for a larger fridge, rebuilt a wall with numerous windows, installed several doors and most recently helped us build a garden/green house using mostly repurposed materials. It was so easy to work with Ryan. We'd express our ideas and he'd figure out a way to make our dream a reality. We appreciate how we can count on Ryan to help us keep our home and place in top shape.

The invoice was presented the day before completion. I paid it that day, never thinking he would leave anything undone. 2 gates still needed latches. One didn't fit its space, and had become warped from being unhung. He did finally send someone, but he only got 1 of them done. I had to hire someone else to finish it up. Be careful with this guy. Mike with Humboldt Building Company is an absolute gem!…read more My husband and I are relocating to Eureka from Southern California and navigating houses that are listed in our price range along with what work they might need from 600+ miles away hasn't been easy, and we don't have an unlimited budget to fly up there and look at them. Our realtor recommended we call Mike for his insight on some houses we were looking at and we're so glad she did. We had a long conversation with him about one house in particular and the work we thought it might need, and that we might like to do. We were looking for a ballpark estimate to see if making an offer made sense for us. Not only did Mike go over the listing, floor plan and photos, he took the time to go look at the house in person and gave us his expert advice and recommendations along with a rough estimate and an explanation for the range. We talked about various home improvement projects and their costs, as well as when permits are needed. My husband and I ended up making an offer on a house that doesn't need much work. But once we move in, if there are any projects big or small that we want to do, we'll be calling Mike and Humboldt Building Company - he definitely knows his stuff and it's clear he prioritizes showing up figuratively and literally for his clients.
