Never a dull moment! From the instructors to the painting peers, it's always a good time! I have been to a few locations, but I have visited the Memorial location the most. The only complaint that I have is that the parking is limited in this area, especially for how packed this place gets on the weekend at night. Another complaint that some may have is that some instructors go too fast. I feel that the instructors do a good job of moving the class along in the allotted timeframe. And no worries, if the instructor is going too fast, there is plenty of help available; additional staff members walk around to assist with whatever you may have a question about--heck, some will even paint what you're unable to for you! Had an awesome time at this Pinot's Palette this past Saturday. Here's the rundown: check their website for their upcoming class schedule to see what paintings/times are available. There's a whole range of stuff you can paint and classes range from 2-3 hrs depending on the time required to paint. Cost per class depends on how long the class is: weeknight classes are 2 hrs & $35/painter while weekend classes (Fri, Sat) are 3 hrs and $45/painter. Be sure to find a Living Social or Groupon deal online so you can get a 2 for 1 price or other discount. Purchase your spot online by adding the painting to your cart and let the staff know if you'd like to sit together in a group with friends (check their FAQ page for more details). This location is only 10 months old so it's clean and well-lit. They provide each painter with a station set up with an easel, canvas, 3 brushes, water cup, paper towel, and palette with the paint colors needed for the session. I am in love with this concept of gathering with friends and/or strangers with a few bottles of wine, a blank canvas and music in the background :) A visit to Pinot's Palette makes for a great date! What a perfect idea for a first date! You can take the edge off with some vino and it is intimate enough that you can share a convo with your date and not feel the pressure of a one-on-one situation when you're just getting to know each other. The instructors at this location are all so sweet and helpful. The instructions are clear and they always keep things very light and playful to make everyone feel comfortable with painting. No one cares if you are a Van Gogh and no one cares if your artistic skills digress back to your days of grade school! Honest! We brought a couple of our friends with us and I think they were pleasantly surprised by how much they really enjoyed themselves. Painting and drinking. This combination could result in a lot of trouble. I am already a menace with a paint brush and now add in alcohol, then you're just expecting a mess. Surprisingly my final product was something I was actually proud of. The staff here does an amazing job or making their paintings easy to replicate. Even the least artistically inclined individual like myself was able to make something that resembled art. It is a very step by step process, including which brushes to use and what techniques to take. Only if 5th grade art was this easy, I might have taken up a different profession. read more

This is really a fun place to explore your creative side. If you've never painted before, don't worry, the friendly instructors will give you step-by-step instructions to create your own masterpiece. The painting subject for each class is displayed on their web site, so that you can plan ahead on which painting interest you the most. Be aware that some classes can fill up pretty quickly, depending on the night and subject; therefore I would recommend trying to plan a few weeks in advance. The great thing about Pinot's Palace is all the painting supply, from the paint to the canvas is provided, all you have to do is show up. Bottle water and utensils are also provided, but if you would like to bring your own beverages and snacks, you may do so. An ice bucket is provided to keep your beverages chilled. Seating is normally assigned based on each reservation. I believe they do this to keep groups together and to see how many seats are remaining, in case there are some additional attendees. Before you begin your masterpiece you are provided an apron to prevent paint from splashing onto your clothes, but it's not always 100% full proof, so I would recommend not wearing white or anything that you would not want paint on. I'm not sure what type of paint they use, but you can always inquire to see if it can be easily removed. After the instructor gives you a brief background on the painting, they will give you step-by-step instructions. The process is quite fascinating as each step is broken down into layers. You start with a blank white canvas, but by the end of the whole process, you end up with something beautiful. It's important to keep in mind that no two paintings are the same, so although you want to make the painting as close to the original, it's okay to put your own unique touches during the course. Art should be an expression of yourself. I highly recommend this place if it's your first time or not. I think I'm addicted. Just take my money already. So, I've been wanting to try this for the longest time - and I finally did! SO GLAD I DID. Paint, drinks, and good company.. the perfect combination for a great night. Yes, it's a little pricey. But so worth it. Came here with my boyfriend and we painted the night away. The art instructor was extremely sweet, talented, and patient. Everyone there is also always friendly (maybe it's because everyone's drinking), but it's effortless to start good conversation and make new friends. You can bring anything from wine to champagne to liquor. And don't forget to bring cheese and crackers to snack on. They provide an ice bucket to cool your drinks, glasses/cups for all your drinks, as well as complimentary water bottles! Now, I'm not an artist of any sort, but I was impressed with my painting. I surprised my other with a painting class and it was a wonderful experience. The addition of wine made it extra fun but the class itself was worth it. We painted a colorful Houston skyline and were very pleased with the end result. The instructor was patient and helpful throughout the painting process. Full disclosure, I have been doing arts, including painting with water color, acrylic, oil paint, etc. for approximately 17 years of my life. So places like these never really appeal to me because I don't really need someone to tell me how to paint and stuff. But then again, the other side of the coin is the socialization aspect, that and the wines and the food. I came to this spot during a special Yelp event where the Yelp provided the wines and food instead of BYOB and/or F (Bring Your Own Bottle and/or Food) and a discounted rate. That and I know some friends of mine I haven't seen for a while are attending so it's a win-win situation. I got there around 15 minutes before the starting time and I mingle around with various Yelpers. By the time it starts, I got my place and there's already the brushes, the paints, the water to rinse your brush, a paper towel, canvas, etc. all lay out and ready to go for you to paint. The teacher will be guiding you to paint based on the theme of the day (Wine Down) and there's the example painting on the wall for you to follow. As soon as I picked up the paintbrush, my art mojo kicks in and I know I am going to do something very different than what's on the wall. I look at the colors that's provided and decided to do a different type of wine bottle painting. The teacher did ask if there's anyone who has been to a Pinot's Palette before and majority of the class raised their hand. But she still went over the basic rules, where to get more paint, more paper towel, where to wash off the paint if it gets into your hair for some odd reason, etc. Pretty much you have 2 hours to paint and you can drink all the wines and food any time between the time. Over all, I had a wonderful time chatting with friends, poking fun of their art, drinking wine, socialize, and most of all, just having a great time. My girlfriend or my hubby and I are regulars at 2 locations of Pinot's Palette. This new location just recently opened up for 2 months now. This location isn't bad at all. It is across from Memorial city mall. Pinot's Palette is almost the same size of the Montrose location but it is in a private lot which you don't have to go looking for a parking space. This studio is very clean - maybe it is because it has the new feeling. Haha... The instructor and staff are friendly. I think everyone should at least try Pinot's Palette out. We drew the beautiful birch painting. It was a little hard but we got through it. If you have never paint before Pinot's Palette is like painting by numbers. The only thing is that there is no numbers but the instructor will show you and tell you step by step on how to draw and which paint brush to you. Many people ask what do I do with all of my paintings... Well, of course I hang them on my wall. Duh! Hehehe :) read more

I love Pinot's Palette! I planned this event for a Girls' Night Out and we had a blast! Here are the things I loved about this location: 1. the painting selection is pretty great. I like the multi layered paintings that look more complicated. 2. Javier, the painting instructor was easy to follow. Despite having to move quickly in the beginning of the background painting, Javier was clear and concise in his direction. 3. I particularly like the dry erase board at the front enumerating the color combos in order, in the event that you fall behind. 4. the prices are reasonable. For $35 per painter, you get a blank canvas, paint, complimentary bottled water and a borrowed apron to wear during a 2-3 hour teacher guided painting class. This is a great venue to spend an evening solo or in a group. Bring your bev of choice and even a snack and get ready to impress yourself with our artistic abilities. Wine and art. Simple concept, and well executed. I can see why these franchises are popping up all over. This is the "Memorial City" location, located in a strip mall behind Memorial Hermann's architectural homage to Sauron, Dark Lord of Mordor. (What the heck is that thing on the top of that hospital, anyway?) The painting itself is a lot of fun. I was a little worried this was going to be paint-by-numbers, but it's not. The instructors use simple techniques and you have enough creative leeway to personalize your painting. The wine (BYOB) helps in that regard. The selection of paintings is varied, and you can select the painting in advance online, so at the end of it you'll have something you'd be proud to hang in your garage. Note that the studio session length and cost varies depending on what you are painting. This particular location has 2 different rooms. The main room has the window storefront, which lets in more natural light. The "van Gogh Room" is smaller and feels more like a back-room art studio. The first time my wife and I came here was for an Elite event., We just returned for another Yelp painting party (disclosure: this time we paid a discounted rate) and again we had a blast. Art class scared me as a kid, but Pinot's Palette isn't scary. They give you guidance and you don't have to have a lot of experience to end up with something you want to hang on the wall. Located across from Memorial mall, Pinot's Palette is an adorable little studio with paintings hung on every wall. You can't help but be happy at a place like this. My friend and I went on a Saturday night and there were plenty of parking spaces. Painting and sipping on wine while singing along to the music in the background was exactly what I needed after being cooped up in my studies for hours. Everything was provided (blank canvas, apron and 3 brushes) except for the wine. The instructors were fun and engaging. She spent almost 3 hours drawing step-by-step, so don't worry if you're a beginner! You'll feel like an artist by the time you're done painting! You can go online and choose a painting you want to paint before scheduling. The whole experience was fun and relaxing. Not to mention, a perfect place to bring a date! We love this location even though it is far away from where we live. The instructors are great especially Brandon and the manager her super nice. They have two small private rooms in the back that are great for fundraiser and private parties. The painting does not require you to be an artist just creative. Had a fabulous time here with my BF and his parents. The atmosphere was very fun and the time we were there (3hrs) flew by! The paint was decent quality, the brushes were good, but maybe a little worn. I liked the canvas size. I didn't like painting Starry Night. I wish we'd had a different painting, but I didn't know there's a calendar and you can see what the painting will be before you schedule your session. Very disappointed! Reserved 2 painting spots on a Thursday night to paint Friday and had to cancel the very next morning. Their policy clearly states they will refund within 24 hours notice. My niece was no longer able to attend and notified me the morning of (10 hours later). I called multiple times to cancel (during other paint class times) with no answer, so I left 2 voice mails and I emailed before the paint class was to start. At this point I'm still within the 24 hour guideline. Hec, I booked it online at 11pm ish the night before. Finally Monday rolls around and I get an email that I was able to receive a credit for another class. No, I don't want a credit. I want what your website clearly states.... A refund! I called and spoke to a lovely lady by the name of Candace and she said "yes, of course I will refund you now." Then 20 minutes later a receive another email saying she would not be refunding me. I called and spoke to Candace and Tina the manager with no resolution And both of them just saying "No, sorry I'm unable to." If that's the case then change what your website states. If you have a 24-48 hour cancellation policy, then answer your phones and respond to your emails within that time frame! Lesson learned not to trust their website and book online with these people! read more

This was an awesome fun time. I was a bit skeptical before coming out but it was really a great time for adults, teens and twenty somethings. We have a group of seven of all mixed ages and the creativity was amazing. We did bring two bottles of wine for the group but it would have been fine even without it. Pinot's provides glasses and wine openers. I will definitely be back. They have a neat class monthly where you can email in a photo of your pet and then do a color by number type painting. They will make you love painting. The environment is great for couples, friends, groups. The staff is so helpful, polite, warm and welcoming. I do wish that people would be respectful not not come in too late. Like there should be a cut off if you don't arrive by a certain time because class shouldn't be interrupted by inconsiderate people, not the the staff fault. I had a great time and do plan to go back several more times. The supplies they give you to use are good quality and your painting will would wonderful even after time has passed and the class is a memory of the past year.
