Open from 11h00 until late daily, 03h00 on Friday and Saturday, K'ups resides in a concrete box with high-ceilings where staff prepare everything from scratch including Sauces, roast Vegetables and the slowly-rotating Meat on a skewer. Offering indoor and outside seating, the made-to-order nature of everything from Gemusekebap to Falafel creating lengthy queues during peak hours, it is after parking at a wooden table that teeth plunge into warm Bread packed to bursting with warm Peppers, Squash, Eggplant and Potatoes plus chilled Lettuce, Cabbage. Tomatoes, Onions and Cucumbers. Smart to order with "mit allem," Garlic, Yogurt and a spicy red Sauce plus Feta and a dash of Seasoning, €4,70 in Bread or €5,70 in a Wheat Wrap will leave all but the most robust appetites sated, though fans and Vegetarians should not miss a side of two Chickpea Fritter fried golden and teaming with Herbs for €1,50.

Habba Habba - The change I was given - I was supposed to receive €5; instead I received 5 Moroccan Dirhams - worth less than $0.50! Cheated out of €5!

Pre-pandemic I ate here on the recommendation of the Lonely Planet guide, and the food was…read moredelicious and fresh. The ambiance is stark, with a few seats inside a dark interior and a couple of wooden benches and tables outside. This year, I patronized Habba Habba briefly again and had a very negative experience. My daughter and I were heading to a store nearby in Prenzlauer Berg after a long trip from Schöneberg that was diverted due to the Christopher Street parade. She was thirsty, so I brought her to Habba Habba since I knew it from before. I purchased her €2.50 bottle of water with a €20 note. The man behind the counter gave me a €10 note and a few coins: a €0.50, a €2 coin, and what looked like a €2 coin, only with a "5" on it. The rest of the lettering was rather worn so very hard to read in the low light inside. I said to my daughter, "I didn't know there were €5 coins" and almost asked the man about it, but she really wanted to move on to our destination. I put the coin away. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I tried to pay part of my ticket for the Neue Nationalgalerie with the €5 coin only to have the woman at the ticket counter say that the coin was not a € coin! I took the attached images and ran them through Google, and it turns out the man at Habba Habba gave me a coin worth 5 Moroccan Dirham - currently valued at only US $0.51!! So Habba Habba cheated me out of €5! Not a pleasant experience. Despite the food being tasty, I will never go back there. I recommend that if you do go, you count your change carefully - twice. What a distasteful experience.

There is a very small but cute wood terrace a few steps up the sidewalk with only two small tables, from which you can admire the lively Kastanienallee and its people. The food is fast and delicious, my favorite is the halloumi & chicken shawarma. It's not very cheap but hey. You can call beforehand and just pick up your wrap a few minutes later, perfect for a business lunch. It is not your typical oriental food shack where they just throw a shawarma together roughly. (don't get me wrong, I tend to love those places, messy big portions are the best!) The portions could be a tiny bit bigger.

The fries here are great, the buns are crispy and pretty much everything about the burger is satisfying--but the patties themselves are kind of meh. They are crispy and juicy on the outside but kind of have a texture on the inside that feels un-fresh and filler-y. However, service here is great; some of the only outwardly friendly service I've seen in Berlin, and the burgers come out really fast.

The patties are clearly pre-formed and the weakest part of their offering, but they grill them up nice with a proper amount of char, and then ladle on the delicious toppings. Colleen C. has the right of it on ordering; you go in and order from the grill first. Don't worry about drinks or anything. They don't care. Just let them know what they need to cook up. Then grab your drinks, find a seat and wait for your order to be yelled out. Return your plates at the end (there are tiny bins scattered around) and pay by letting them know what you had, drinks and all. Burgers are cheap (3-6 EUR) and each menu option has a "baby" variant that's a bit smaller and about a Euro cheaper. Sides (fries, wedges) are 1-2 EUR and giant bottles of ketchup and mayo come gratis. The "chili-cheeseburger", which like most places in Berlin, isn't American chili but rather a *spicy* burger with jalapeños, cheese spread and a spicy red sauce. It's a tasty, gooey mess. The wedges are also pretty satisfying. If you opt for the sour cream, know that it's more like an herb cheese dip than sour cream. Still good, but different than what I was expecting. A full meal (burger, side, drink) should set you back no more than 9 EUR.
