I requested an estimate to repair roof damage that was causing a leak. The completed work was a basic patch that fell well below reasonable expectations, as shown in the photos. When I raised my concerns, Joe Taylor, the owner of Walsh Roofing, stated that the task has been completed because a repair using all new materials would have cost more and that I likely would have cancelled the work. I fail to see how receiving a reasonable quote for a professional repair would result in canceling a job. I asked for a reasonable price for a proper repair--not a low-cost, extremely substandard solution. The photos speak for themselves.

He said that he was his boss supervising him for the day. They inspected for about 45 mins and then worked in their vehicle for about 20 minutes to prepare the estimate. That's where things went south. He spent 20 mins showing videos of his company and how great they were, showing their various products etc before providing the estimate. Then when he presented the estimate it was $4000 more for shingles than two other local companies we had gotten and twice as expensive for metal than the other companies. When I ask for a roof quote that is what I want. The other two companies I got quotes from came out inspected and provided quotes. I did not need to be here. I don't want to be "sold" on roofing.

We wanted Andersen windows made with FIBREX material and we discovered McKinley Pro is the only "Premier" Certified Andersen contractor in Central Florida (which I called Andersen to verify) that sells and installs them, and they offer 0% financing! Since I had already handled the cleanup myself, I declined their offer. I hope moving forward there's more attention to preparation and proper demo practices so situations like this can be avoided for other clients. I want to share my experience so others know what to expect. When the roofing work started, the lack of professionalism was obvious. There was little to no preparation--no tarps were laid down, and debris was scattered all over my yard. I recently had landscaping done, and it was frustrating to see roofing materials, nails, and trash . Even after the job was "completed," cleanup was incomplete. I'm still finding roofing debris in my backyard, on my grill, and even on my smoker. They also damaged my outdoor lamps and didn't bother to fix or properly replace them. To make matters worse, they left behind leftover materials, including a large box of nails and roofing liner. Oh and because they had little care for prep my dog's water/food bowls had material thrown on them. If I wasn't paying attention they would of ingested that stuff. As someone who grew up around roofing (my father is a roofer), I can say this level of carelessness is not normal--it's sloppy. While the roof itself may look fine at a glance, the overall experience and lack of respect for my property were disappointing. I would strongly encourage others to be cautious and ask detailed questions upfront before hiring this company.
