The therapists at this location are very skilled. That is amazing in and of itself. But what also needs to be taken into consideration is their caring for and commitment to the patient. There is truly a desire to make the patient physically better. To resolve or reduce whatever issues the patient may be having with careful consideration of the patient abilities. During my round of therapy, there were many days when I was so frustrated I wanted to quit. But the therapists were very supportive and encouraging. They did push, but did it in a very caring and careful manner. This place is an excellent choice if you need to have a physical therapy and are looking for a positive outcome from it.

This practice defines what top physical therapy is and how knowledgable, caring medical providers…read morecan benefit patients. Often Dr. Jim Floyd, the owner of the practice and the doctor I have worked with more than 10 years, will save me money for my treatment versus seeing an MD, who may prescribe unneeded prescriptions, X-rays, MRIs, CTs, etc. I also like that I can go see Dr. Floyd and his staff for a few visits to figure out what's going on and start treatment immediately without a MD referral. Thanks to Dr. Floyd, I was able to fully recover from a herniated disc in my neck with no surgery or injections, in spite of two neurologist recommendations for surgery. Later, when I did actually need surgery, Dr. Floyd helped me through the process to find a shoulder surgeon who was the best fit for me, Dr. Justin Knight, and then has guided me from a sling during recovery to lifting weights overhead, returning to an active lifestyle, and feeling and moving much better than I was prior to the surgery. I've ended up with more range of motion than I've had in many years through my course of treatment with Dr. Floyd. Ascent and Dr. Floyd are a key part of my health and wellness team. Highly recommend!

Dr Young was professional, knowledgeable, patient and explained things so they were easy to understand. Before I found Vertex, I was cynical about how well physical therapy worked. I had only been to one…read morePT practice where I was scheduled for an hour with a PT doctor along with 2 or 3 other patients. He would give me an ice bag for 20 minutes to put on my injury, then work with the other patients who had the same appointment time. When he returned to me, he needed a debriefing about why I was there again, because he couldn't keep his patients straight. I felt like I could have done the same things at home and saved myself a lot of time and money. I think I went twice, total, before I gave up. Vertex operates within a whole different model -- one that enlightened me and has influenced the entire PT industry in Columbia, as other practices are now trying to mirror Vertex's approach. Each PT doctor meets with just one patient the entire hour, and a lot of progress is made in that hour. I have been patients of Vertex's founders, Dr. Jim Floyd and Dr. Brandon Vaughn, and both are exceptional -- very bright, innovative, and caring, and their integrity and patient-centered approach is apparent in all they do and in the kind of people they hire. I have seen multiple PTs at their clinics, with Dr. Aimee Depelteau being the one I've seen the most, and all have been exceptional. As a patient in my early 50s who is trying to stay active and strong for a lifetime, I have had a range of injuries that Vertex has helped me get through. If I'm injured (again), I go to Vertex for a consult for a faster diagnosis and treatment plan than I would get via an MD (as SC does not require an MD referral for the first several PT visits), and I get the bonus of not having to pay for things like X-rays, MRIs, etc. unless I truly need them. I'll always be grateful to Dr. Floyd for saving me from having surgery for a herniated disc in my neck, thanks to his wisdom and treatment. This is a smart, well-trained team who is passionate about their work and good health. Dr. Josh Jeffery and Dr. Vaughn have a great podcast, Better Faster, and many of the PT team engage in fitness coaching on the side and train hard themselves. Highly recommend.
