It was almost impossible to find a qualified person to install my Hallman Industries Italian range…read more So, last February, I was extremely grateful that Mr. Calvert decided to do the job for us. I found him by calling a high end appliance store. I bought my range at Home Depot, but the box store did not have anyone on staff to install this kind of range. Mr. Calvert and his helper did a good job putting the range in place. But, he failed to calibrate the gas flow. I texted him after and explained that I'm burning food, that the gas flow is too high, and I need his help. The range cost almost $5000. It replaced a Frigidaire Gallery dual fuel range. I never burned any food on my Frigidaire Gallery range, but I burn food all the time if I don't continually shut off the burners while I'm cooking with the improperly installed Hallman range. I reached out to Mr. Calvert by text, asking him to please come back and calibrate the range that he installed. Mr. Calvert did not respond to my text. I left a voicemail on his phone, and Mr. Calvert did not respond to my voicemail. He stranded me. I contacted Hallman Industries and was informed the installer was supposed to calibrate at installation. Mr. Calvert should have known that. So I question his technical skill. I learned from the manufacturer that I should not calibrate the system on my own because you need a micro screwdriver and if you make a mistake, it is a very expensive mistake. I was told to call a different appliance company that services Hallman Industries' products. The strange thing is I had called Hallman Industries many times to find an installer last winter, but received no help. Currently, I am being referred to Mr. Appliance. I'm hoping that this will be the answer to the problem. I love to cook, but it's really hard to cook when you need to keep shutting the burners off to avoid destroying the food. I give Calvert Contracting one star because Mr. Calvert should have calibrated the burners on installation. He did not. Then, he ignored my text messages and my voicemail. I would've respected the company more if he called and said he doesn't know how to calibrate gas burners -- and that's why he didn't do it. Then, if he had referred me to someone else, I would've been happy.

He carefully covered the counter top and went right to work removing the old microwave and installing the new one. He found that our builder/electrician had taken some shortcuts that were not acceptable so he made the changes on the electrical box and the venting as part of this installation. Wonderful job! This past week we replaced our double built in ovens. The purchase was made at Chenoweth Appliance. When the purchase was made the salesman scheduled the installation with their installer. Surprise! Todd from Calvert Contracting arrived on schedule with our new ovens. He brought with him padding to lay on the floor while removing the old ovens. While he was doing the removal his assistant was off loading the new ovens. The team of two worked well together in the lifting out and the fitting in of the new oven. Once again Todd found our builder/electrician had not installed the correct box to plug the oven into. No problem, he made the necessary change and also built up the insert area so this oven would vent correctly. Another wonderful job! In visiting with Todd we found he had not changed what store he works for. Turns out he installs a variety of appliances for several different stores in the Louisville area. We would welcome him back on any installation.

Then we were doing a remodel, we called him in to see what we could do about moving a return and supply lines. He gave us a pretty cheap estimate and said call him when the walls were out. We called, he came and cut new holes in the walls for the return and said he would be back on Monday because he needed more supplies. He never answered the phone again. Didn't even tell us that he couldn't do it, just wouldn't respond. After a week with holes in the ceiling to the attic and stuck on the timeline of our reno because nothing could be moved forward until the duct work was moved, our A/C failed and stopped working. We called again and said even if not doing the duct work, please help us. Temps are 105 and no air. No response. We called someone else for a $400 fix and contracted another company for duct work for $3300. Also there was a vent from the furnace with a recalled part and a cracked pipe. It was leaching carbon monoxide into our house when the heat was on. He has seen our 3 little kids, and told us nothing about any of this. Now we are going to have to replace the system. I really trusted Pat and liked him a lot but I feel horribly let down after this.
