The hygienist kept HOUNDING me about flossing for the entire appointment. Dude, I get it, leave me alone. Then the doctor kept making all these weird comments about my nose ring, talking about hanging floss from it and other weird stuff. Every sentence led back to my nose ring and it made me very uncomfortable. It's not a comfortable space for anyone that has any unique qualities that stray from the expected standard Utah appearance.

Prices are fair. I like that they can text as well. Last week I needed a last minute appointment on a tooth that has been unhappy. I was watching my two nephews (6 and 10) so I didn't think I could go in. The front desk was so kind and when I explained the boys were nice kids and could sit quietly on their iPads the ladies offered to watch them since I didn't have other options. I was so grateful!! We have been loyal patients ever since. As a family, we make the 360 mile round trip for our checkups twice a year, and it is worth it. It was a filling that wasn't due for replacement yet. Amy, the awful billing lady yelled and argued with me over the phone that it's not their job to check if the tooth had been worked on in the past by another office. These people are lazy as sh*t and will NOT check any sort of tooth history just to trap you into paying their blown up fees. Watchout, this is a strategy of theirs! All other offices I've been to will not hesitate to call your insurance to gather pertinent information about the tooth that needs work. The filling, by the way, was no good. As you can see from the other reviewers, Dan Mirci absolutely sucks at performing fillings. Save yourself the headache and avoid this office and the awful billing lady! The rest of the ladies there were nice but Amy the biller is a total b*tch. I needed to see a dentist right away, and Merci Dental absolutely came through for me. They were able to get me in the same day. I let them know I was flexible and would take whatever opening they had, and I was so grateful they squeezed me in. The dentist quickly evaluated me and said I needed a root canal. Because of the complexity, they felt it would be best for me to see an endodontist. What impressed me was how the Merci Dental team handled it -- they didn't just send me away with a referral. The dentist had the front desk call three highly recommended endodontists immediately to see who could take me. Within minutes, they had me set up with an appointment, and I was able to drive straight over and be seen that same day. The next day, I came back to Merci Dental to be fitted for a crown, and two weeks later I now have my permanent crown in place. Everything feels great and the quality of work has been excellent. The entire staff was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about my well-being. Since everything was happening quickly, they made sure to explain each step clearly and confirm that I understood what was being done. The front desk deserves special thanks -- they moved fast, coordinated seamlessly, and kept billing accurate in real time even as the treatment plan changed. That kind of attention to detail made a stressful experience so much easier. I spend a lot of time in Salt Lake City, and Merci Dental is now my go-to dentist. It felt predatory, but I paid in full because I felt I had no other choice. The procedure itself was a few fillings. One of them was overfilled and painful for many months after. When I brought this to their attention, they looked at the filling, asked several times if I had been clenching (I hadn't been), shrugged, said I needed a root canal, then referred me to an endodontic specialist who gave a quote of over $2500 for the procedure. I eventually got a second opinion from the local school of dentistry, which told me I just needed to have the filling filed down. They did it for free, allowing me to chew with that side of my mouth for the first time in months. I feel this practice took advantage of my faith in the ethics of dentistry. It upsets me that I payed so much for such poor care. To even call it "care" is an exaggeration. The office staff and dentist brushed off the idea of accountability and fixing the mistakes they made, instead thrusting that responsibility onto the customer.
