Windows were never taped or wrapped correctly, siding was just put on over the windows....what did that do? Cause water to run behind the siding and cause the wood to rot and mold. He did not pay attention to my needs as a client. He prioritizes his own private activities and other clients over his commitment to me to complete work on a specific schedule. I hired Bell Electric in 2017 to rewire my home. He said that he would start in March and would finish within two weeks. Four months later in May he still wasn't finished and I find myself having to call him repeatedly to push him to get work done. The typical routine would be the following: At the beginning of the week, I would call him and tell him that he is behind schedule and he needs to complete work at the house. He commits to having the work completed over the next two weeks. I watch the security cameras at the house while I am at work during the week, and I find that around 3 pm on Friday he shows up to do about one hour's worth of work. Sometimes that work involves setting up a ladder and running one single wire in order to make it look like he had been there actually getting work done. Each week he would have a different excuse: he has club meetings to go to; he's going on vacation; he's going turkey hunting; he's going out of town; he's going camping; he has farmers he works for; he has other clients. I finally gave him an ultimatum and told him to finish the work or return a portion of the money that I had paid him. He did neither. After five months, I finally fired him and hired a new electrician. The new contractor spent less than one week and the house, finished all remaining work, and actually cared about what I wanted and needed as the homeowner and client. If you want a contractor who will not complete work on time and not care about your needs as a client or the commitments he has made, then Wade Bell of Bell Electric in Crescent City and Watseka, IL is the electrical contractor for you.
