I could not be happier with any tradesperson than I am with Dan and his helper Brandon at MX…read moreElectric, who work together well on most of MX Electric's residential service calls and implementations. First, Dan knows his stuff and will only do things the correct way. He focuses on current and future plans and makes sure to allow flexibility for continuing projects when completing the requested work. Second, they are meticulous in preparation and cleanup, exhibiting respect for your property and belongings, covering all surfaces where needed, cleaning up after. Third, Dan is very familiar with home security systems and can help design the right camera placement for your property. He is honest and doesn't try to persuade you to do more than what is required just to increase costs. Fourth, the quality of work Dan does is top-notch. There are no crooked fixtures/switches or loose wires. They always focus on safety and never rush through and leave anything unfinished, even late on Friday afternoons! MX Electric is lucky to have these professionals in their company. As a picky homeowner, I heartily recommend MX Electric whenever asked who I use at my home. They always communicate with me in a respectful manner when I ask questions or have (too) wild ideas. I can not recommend MX Electric enough.

I hired Kaiser to do three electric panels as well as service and knob and tube replacement in an…read moreold house. Around ~$7k worth of work. Once it was done, I went in and found a cracked new light fixture, knob and tube still there, drywall not replaced where they put the panels, leaving a void in the wall and upon my HVAC guy shocking himself because they had marked a wire wrong from a box, I asked them to come back in and correct the issue. Specifically asking them to make sure the right boxes are powering the correct sides of a duplex which I was told would be checked out. I was told that was done and the best I could tell, it was because some of the visual things were taken care of (except hole in wall and knob and tube left). Fast forward many months and me paying them already, I find that there a ton of wires powering wrong sides of the duplex. I discuss with them again and they tell me they don't believe that's their issue as they only replaced the boxes, even though I specifically asked them to make sure this was not the case the second time out. I asked them to contact my handyman that knows the issue way better and they didn't even bother to call from what I'm told. Nor did they bother getting back with me after that conversation. I came to Kaiser because I thought they were the best. I hire Union electricians because I wanted it done right the first time. They showed they're no better than anyone else, they just charge WAY more. I now get to pay someone more to come in and fix their shortcomings. I'll never use them again! They claim one thing and do another. Would have been very easy to make this right, but they chose not to care enough to even know what it would take.

Dominique at A+ Mechanicals has stolen $125 from me. I contracted him to do consulting work to give…read moreme an estimate on installing walls inside a house I have in Urbana. He made multiple failed promises to give me an estimate. Kept saying "I'll get it tonight," then "sorry I'll get it tomorrow", about 4 separate times he told me he'd send out the estimate but he never did. I asked for a refund on the 27th of July and he said no problem, I'll give it to my accounting department. A week passes by and no refund. I texted him multiple times. He said his accounting processes refunds on the 1st and the 15th of each month. I said okay, the 1st of August has already passed. Why don't I have a refund? "Sorry you'll definitely get the refund by the 15th". The 15th comes around and apparently the refund he sent got returned for an invalid address. I gave him a valid address. Now he claimed he would give me the refund through CashApp. I made a cashapp account and gave him my details to process a refund. Silence. I called him and he gave me his typical lie "oh I'll get it sent tonight." Tonight comes around and no refund is sent. Do NOT use his service. He is a liar, a fraud, and steals your money. I'm filing a small claims lawsuit against him to get my money back. All he had to do was send me a refund and all this would have been avoided, but he's dragging it out hoping I won't push it.
