We chose a Burlesque workshop with Pink Kitten Dance School. Our poor instructor was faced with a number of extremely hungover / still half drunk hens who put us through our paces. First of all we were taught how to walk alluringly across the floor! Easy eh? We stumbled ungraciously and self-consciously across the floor in our high heels! However by the end of the class we were all able to do a routine. Dita Von Teese isn't going to be hanging up her boa anytime soon but it was a fun activity which really bonded the hen group and taught us some saucy tricks to use at home! The workshop took place in the club part of Java on a lovely light up dancefloor which gave that additional glam factor! We borrowed feather boas but bring your own cardigan (buttons rather than velcro, this isn't The Full Monty) to help you practice your reveal! No nipple tassle twirling required, you can wear a little top under your cardi. I wore shorts, a top, cardigan and high heels. It may be gentle exercise but were definitely sweating our toxins out towards the end of the workshop. read more

I heart Pink Kitten! I recently moved to Bristol from America and was mourning the loss of my burlesque and pole teacher there. As a shy retiring type and still very new to any sort of dance, I was hesitant to dive in with strange teachers in an unfamiliar place. But the PK students and teachers are some of the loveliest and most encouraging people I've met here. After trying several of the schools in Bristol, PK is my favorite! Great burlesque and pole, along with amazing circus classes...my newfound workout passion. Also, the student showcases mean opportunities for as much or as little individual creative expression as you want. My self-confidence has soared, and I've transformed from "scared to wear a swimsuit" to feeling so sexy and super-strong these days. I started off as just a beginner wanting to learn a bit more about burlesque, now having been a repeat student, I love taking the lessons at Pink Kitten! The teacher was great at welcoming the group and putting everyone at ease, she clearly knew her stuff too as she told us about the history and people to look up as well as fantastic routines and posing skills. The lessons were great for my confidence and I was encouraged to take part in the student cabaret which was so much fun! Now having been guided through intermediates and currently advanced burlesque, I had the opportunity to create my own character, learn all kinds of feather-swishing skills and theatrical techniques. I took part in a 4 week beginner burlesque course with Pink Kitten, it was great fun and very liberating! Poppy Von Tart is a professional and friendly teacher and we all went away with more confidence and fun moves! I would definitely recommend this dance school as very good value and worth doing. I attended the be beginners pole dancing course. I have to admit I was extremely nervous at first as I'm as coordinated as a baby elephant. The instructor was great though. I enjoyed it so much I've just signed up for the intermediate class. I thoroughly recommend it as a great work out and a bit of fun. read more

Despite booking my friend's burlesque hen party class 4 months in advance, paying and exchanging a number of emails with the co-ordinator at Pink Kitten to confirm all the details our dance instructor didnt turn up due to an internal error. I was left with a group of hens who'd all bought burlesque accessories out of their own pocket and a disappointed bride to be in a venue we'd made a special trip to go to for this class with no teacher. Pink Kitten did offer the opportunity to join a workshop they were running elsewhere that day but it didnt fit in with the other plans we had for the rest of the day, and wasnt a private class so we declined. They did refund the money promptly afterward but with no gesture to compensate for the money outlaid on accessories or the embarrassment caused. In fact, despite 2 more emails I didnt ever receive another response. Dont book with this dance school. read more
