I went to The Pink Flamingo after seeing all the good Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. Laura gave me a deep conditioning treatment plus hair cut and I was very happy with the results! She was very nice and knowledgable, and helped explain my hair type to me and what techniques would work/what doesn't work when layering my type of hair. I like that they use Aveda products, and the interior with all of the flamingo and retro decorations was adorable! Overall atmosphere was friendly and upbeat. I have been a regular at Pink Flamingo and Lauren did my haircut and color. For the first couple of times she was great at cut and color and will listen and work with the style I was looking for. The last 3 visits have been a nightmare. She overbooks, to compensate time, she would leave the dye for more than one hour and after washing off the dye, will make me sit under a heating machine. This would give her time to work on others. By this time, I would be in there for for nearly 2 1/2 hours. I still went back thinking it is just a one off.. I am never going back to her again. read more

****Response to the owner, Pink Flamingo**** I was agitated with the crude treatment you handed over after a sub-standard service. Therefore a not-so-great review from me must not come as a surprise to you. I feel the need to write again as many of the facts you posted in the response to my review are inaccurate and fabricated. Here are the things I want to clarify: 1. I have had only two consultations at the salon. You did advise me against the perm during the first consultation (spring last year) due to the fact that I used henna. But I met you guys again in April this year after I performed a strand test myself and felt confident about the treatment. During the second consultation I was suggested a spiral perm by the stylist herself. 2. I use henna on my hair but have never ever used any sort of box color and I did tell you the same. Even if you felt the "integrity of my hair was compromised", your choosing the alkaline perm solution is questionable considering how harsh and damaging it could be on such hair. 3. I never asked the money back or a redo service. I only wanted to talk to the stylist or anyone from the salon. I did sign the waiver and took full responsibility of the outcome but I don't think it took away my right to talk to the stylist. 4. Me and my friends (both your previous customers) did not yell or verbally threaten anyone in the salon. In fact, we felt threatened at the prospect of police being called on us for just wanting to talk. 5. We were not escorted out by the police. The police met us outside the salon in my car where we were waiting after you showed us the door. In fact, one of the officers gave us the options to go to the court or give you a bad review on Better Business Bureau. I wish you had handled a dissatisfied customer in an appropriate manner. Anyhow, the matter ends here from my side and this would be my last post regarding the incident. Last not the least, I enjoy an impeccable personal record myself and police being called on me was a first for me as well, courtesy you. read more

They will over book their schedules and not have time for you. I waited 10 minutes when I had an appointment and on top of that, the lady that I had was juggling between me and someone else. If she is running late she will not give you the scalp massage which is promised in every hair cut you get. The other lady that was getting her hair done, had to go out with wet hair and she barely blow dried mine. She rushed my eyebrow appointment and overall a stressful experience. read more

I really didn't enjoy my haircut at Pink Flamingo. They cut my hair while it was dry which I thought was odd but was too shy to say anything. That was on me but when they asked if I wanted to have them dry my hair I asked if that was extra. They said it was extra so I said I guess no and they left my hair soaking wet. Not going back, suggest you don't go to this salon. read more

I booked an appointment for a trim and perm (my hair is seriously in need of texture). I was happy to hear they had an appointment available that day. However, when I got arrived the stylist told me that if I wanted texture I would have to book an appointment with a different stylist. I got a trim today and now I will spend the rest of my evening trying to find a salon in Lincoln that can do my hair properly. Of course, that will mean having to take more time off of work next week. Please don't book appointments with stylists who are not able to provide the service requested. I recently moved to Nebraska and had really hoped I could find a good stylist on the first try. read more

I went to Afton at Pink Flamingo for a trim and colour after seeing her reviews online. I had healthy, short, black hair and I asked for ombre/ balyage highlights. I explained to her that I wanted a blonde ombre but without the harsh difference in colour, therefore more of a colour melt. I wanted to go more blonde over time. I also informed her that I had ombre before and my hair was very orange so I would like to avoid that as much as possible but I understood that going light might make it impossible to avoid that scenario. She acted as though she understood. After 2 hours of colouring and washing my hair she shows me the final result and there was no colour in my hair- it looked exactly the same as before and she was going to let me walk out of there like that so I reluctantly mentioned that I don't see any difference. Afton agreed and made a different mix. When she was done, there were definitely some bronzy streaks in my hair. At that point I was in that salon for more than 5 hours and I just wanted to leave so I tipped her generously and left. I went home and was very disappointed. I had bronze streaks throughout the top of my head that made me look like a 90s soccer mom! Some streaks were thin while others were very thick- overall looked terrible. I ended up going to a salon in Omaha for colour correction 2 days later! While Afton did do a good job on the haircut, she is definitely not someone I would go to for any colouring services! The ladies at Pink Flamingo seemed very nice. In the time I was there I noticed they all compliment all the clients on how great their hair looked after their appointment (regardless if it looked good or not). It seemed like this salon would appeal to an older crowd who didn't want to try anything new with their hair- they can do the basic jobs alright. But for the prices, not worth risking the health or beauty of your hair. read more

I've been to Afton a few times now. She is excellent, does a great razor cut and is quick. I'm always able to get an appointment that works for me and I never feel that regret a few days after, when I can't get it to do what I want or asked for. I would recommend her to anyone!
