My hair color was a light brown with golden/red undertones. I had spoken with my sister who is a cosmetologist as well as two other friends who work at hair salons and they all told me that what I wanted would be easy to have done and not be that expensive. I went into InStyle for the first time for my appointment with Jesse. I let her know what I wanted thinking there would be no issue and she immediately took on a very argumentative tone with me regardless of the polite tone that I speak to everyone in. She has no respect for her clients or their wishes whatsoever. I ended up getting a drab basic dark brown all-over color which costed my $125. Back in Jan. I had the same exact service done, an all-over color and cut, at Younique (which I suggest you go to instead) and it was only $95 and the service was infinitely better. I don't enjoy being yelled at by someone who I am paying - she honestly created a scene. I wish I had the guts to grab my bag and walk out the door the first time she started raising her voice and and talking to me so fast and aggressive. Also, I asked for an inch or two off my ends and she only dusted them with a minimal trim. I have never had this problem anywhere as most stylists cut off too much but I barely felt or saw the scissors touch my hair. She said this was because my hair was healthy, however part of her reasoning in not wanting to do the blonde pieces was that it would leave my hair damaged. I told her I had tried blondes in my hair before and it took the process well but she likely wasn't listening to me. Unbelievable. The other ladies that work there seemed like they would have given me equally unsatisfying service. This is honestly a horrible salon. The pictures on Google make it look ritzy and inviting but it is absolute trash I tell you.

I have never been to a salon where the stylist wouldn't even TOUCH my hair. Alysha (the owner)…read morerefused to color my hair because I was new. I understand that there is some breakage when bleaching hair. I also understand that the process I wanted done would have been multiple steps and multiple appointments. She wouldn't even consider it. After she was too scared to lighten my hair ,I suggested she go darker and she refused that as well. I simply needed a change. I waited SIX months to sit in her chair. It sounds to me like she could use some more training. I waited to post a review to make sure that it was warranted. The fact that I'm still upset about it tells me it needed to be written. People look forward to their hair appointments. We pay A LOT of money for the time in the chair and the end result. Had she taken the time to listen to me, she would have realized I wasn't looking for perfection. Honestly its more about the "me" time and the experience of having my hair done than what the specific color(s) turn out to be. It's just hair to me. I even told her that. I'm constantly doing something new to mine. Point to this review: If you're looking for a new stylist, she's not your girl. I cannot speak to what the other two stylists do there. Being overly worried about your reputation can backfire. Give the customer what they ask for. *The photo is my hair in it's current condition. Still haven't had it done.

Personally i would not recommend coming here if u want layers. I'm not sure if the stylist i got just wasnt comfortable doing layers but they came out very choppy. It's definitely not the worst haircut ever it's just not great so i wouldn't go back to the same lady. The blow out she gave me was also not very good, it left my hair tangled and i had some pieces that were just sticking out weird after. Overall it's a nice salon and well priced ($48 for women's wash and cut) but i would not recommend if you want a layered haircut or a blow out.
