Every year we'd anticipate the cooler weather and plan our order and call it in over the phone and they'd pack a flat rate priority box with as much aged cheddar, fresh curds Colby and brick as possible and find a window where the weather would be cool and it wouldn't sit at the post office over a holiday or weekend. I'd bring them to holiday parties and hand them out to friends until there was only one or two pounds left and then we'd make that last until the next order. Sadly that was our last order, now begins the new adventure of getting the cheese. I don't know what's going to happen. I'll report back when I find out.

I was mainly looking for an apple orchard but I won't turn down a winery/cidery/meadery option as well. This place isn't very big but they really pack in a lot of product in such a small footprint. Cheese, apples, honey, soap, syrup, etc. A great place to do some holiday shopping for the foodie in your family. Daily tastings are offered for only $6 for 5 samples and you pick from grape wine, fruit wine, cider and mead all produced onsite. We enjoyed all of the samplings we tried and ended up buying a few bottles of wine and mead to take back home with us. Prices are very reasonable and comparable, especially with their products being made with local, fresh ingredients. But back to the main reason why I had come to this place, apples. I was on the lookout for one of my favorite heirloom apples (Jonathans) while in Wisconsin and with Hammen's offering 250 varieties of apple varieties, I was sure to have luck on finding them. And I did! It was fun to walk the aisles of fresh apples and see what other unique varieties teased my interest. And at an affordable price point (I think it was only a couple dollars per pound), it was really easy to be adventurous and try out a few new to me types. I'm dropping a pin on the map - this place will definitely be a fresh apple pickup destination for me and the family seasonally. Well worth the road trip!

Located in the town's gas station/general store, the market has a really nice selection of choices on their menu. From sandwiches to appetizers, most everyone should be able to find something to satisfy their hunger. Additionally, the old school store has liquors, various non-alcoholic drinks and some groceries available for purchase. After ordering at the checkout counter, we grabbed a table in their small dining room. When our meals came, everyone in my group was happy with the taste, preparation and size of their meals. I had the Cuban panini and fries. Hot and filled with ingredients, I'd say it was every bit as good as other Cuban sandwiches I've had over the years. With a nice serving of fries, I was filled upon finishing my meal. Overall, a really good first experience at a place that came highly recommended. If you are in the area and need a bite to eat, it is definitely worth a visit!
