Our dog woke up with an awful eye issue and we knew we couldn't wait for our regular vet on Monday. I called several emergency vets that I found on Yelp and this place said that they had no current wait for emergency patients and they had two vets on staff today. She encouraged me to head right in so I did. We were there in about 10 minutes and they took my pup's weight and vitals right away - a great sign. However, we then waited 90 minutes in an animal-crowded waiting room to see a doctor. For 45 of those 90 minutes there was a very loud scary dog in the waiting room that everyone was trying to avoid. Not the dog's fault - he/she was just scared. But the front desk staff and the other staff did nothing to remove the dog and put the dog in an exam room, despite having multiple exam rooms open at the time. It was a miserable 90 minutes, trying to keep my dog calm and comfortable, knowing we could have been at any of the other vets that had said they had a 30-60 minutes wait. I get it - this is a vet that sees regular patients that had scheduled appointments. That's totally appropriate but then don't tell people on the phone that there's no wait. And don't pack in a bunch of pets that are struggling to be around each other with tons of open exam rooms. The vet I spoke with was very nice and knowledgeable but I didn't get to be with my dog for the exam because by then they'd run out of exam rooms. It's hard to let them take your dog back when you don't know them and your dog doesn't know them. All in all, a bummer of an experience. I'm sure it's a place people enjoy for regular pet vet needs, but trust me - don't use it for emergencies.

I had a nice chat with a vet tech while she asked questions, and 5 mins later we were with the Dr! He sat on the floor with my nervous pup, got to know us and then took her back for assessment. He avoided intrusive procedures, rather offering less expensive alternatives and gave an over all heath assessment. They checked me out and the cost was very reasonable. While on my way home, they texted lab results that my pup was healthy and good to go! I am so happy I found Hess Ridge. Our 3.5 year old serval cat was hit by a vehicle in Gatlinburg. He was badly injured with blunt force trauma to the head and face, lacerations on his back, all four paws badly abraded and unknown internal injuries. We were at a loss as we did NOT have a vet and didn't have a way to get him in a crate. Silas wasn't socialized as a kitten so we took him on as no one else would. He is not a mean cat, just quite anxious. Silas was a replacement kitty as our first cat died in the Gatlinburg fires -- Silas has a special place. Although we cannot hold him we can pet him. I called many vets that day and was frustrated by the answers I received. WE REALLY NEEDED HELP AND NOONE SEEMED TO CARE. (It took 2 days to get Silas into a carrier) Finally, I called AESC and knew after talking for less than a minute that this is where we were taking Silas. When we arrived at AESC the staff quickly got Silas to an exam room and within 2 minutes Dr Rutherford appeared. He addressed Silas' pain immediately, (he had been hurting for 2 days), and had x-rays completed in minutes. The doctor listened, was knowledgeable and we discussed the possibilities with respect to the surgery Silas needed. His jaw was broken in 2 places and he had additional superficial injuries as well that would heal by themselves over time. The surgery went well and we continue to care for Silas at home. He was discharged the same day as the surgery. So grateful to have found this clinic. Hopefully we will not need emergency services again. But in the event we do, we know exactly where we will be taking Silas. And that knowledge in and of itself is reassuring as we haven't had any place that we felt comfortable taking him. This ER did an ultrasound and Dr. Dalby called me and said they found a couple masses and thought that maybe we should get oncology involved, and gastro, and run thousands of dollars in tests. We decided to wait and see how our dog did over night b/c we were told that her symptoms were slightly improving. The next day the wonderful Dr. Dalby called and let us know that our dog had a good night, was stable but still didn't want to eat. That maybe if we brought her in some of her favorite treats it would tigger her to want food. But again never made it seem like our dog was really bad, just sick and needed a little extra support. We went up to see our dog. We brought our kids and waited in a room for an HOUR and when we finally asked what was going on we found out they had forgotten about us. Finally they brought in our dog, when I tell you she was completely not the same dog that would be an understatement. She had lost significant weight in 3 days (only a 14 lbs dog to start), she was leaking poop, she could barely stand, and when she looked into your eyes she was begging for someone to help her. It was obvious that our dog needed to be put down and this place made us believe that she could get better because they wanted MONEY!!!! We ended up discharging her from this piece of crap hospital and took her to our vet to say goodbye. Our vet looked at my dogs ultrasound and said that there were masses everywhere, not just 2 that didn't seem like a big deal. They DO NOT care about your pets!!!! They will drain you for every penny you have if you let them!!! The only thing this place cares about is money!! They will let your animal suffer if it means extra dollars in their pocket. And Dr. Dalby should specifically be ASHAMED of herself. She must enjoy watching animals suffer or she would not do this. I'm glad I have an amazing vet who helped us say goodbye to pet the same way. I just feel terrible that my dog suffered for days for no reason. I hate this world!!!!!!

Having The Pawlyclinic come to my apartment was a complete game changer. Dr. Rahim was absolutely amazing. She was incredibly patient and gentle with Clarky, and she took the time to explain what she was doing and why throughout the entire visit. She also asked so many thoughtful, thorough questions about Clarky's diet, activity level, vision, behavior, and changes I've noticed as she's gotten older. I never felt rushed. What I appreciated most was that the visit wasn't just about treating her ear infection--it was also about looking at the bigger picture of keeping my senior kitty healthy and happy. Dr. Rahim gave me so much helpful information about things to watch for as Clarky ages, and I feel much more informed and confident about caring for her. Our elderly, medically vulnerable dog was placed at unnecessary risk by this veterinary practice…read more We brought our elderly dog, who has serious mobility challenges after barely surviving a severe joint infection, to this clinic for physical therapy. Before the appointment, we received a text instructing us not to enter the lobby because of renovations and to call upon arrival for an escort inside. We followed those instructions. Although renovations had not begun, the receptionist still told us to wait outside. We stood in temperatures above 90 degrees with a dog who could barely remain standing on the hot pavement, while other clients entered and did business and waited inside. Staff could see us through the doors and windows, yet no one came to assist us. After waiting a while, I went inside to ask why we had not been allowed into the lobby. We were told we were already checked in, no apologies or explanations, and our exhausted dog then had to go outside again and walk down the block to a separate treatment room. The temporary-looking space was extremely hot and had no apparent air conditioning. Initially, no water or apology was offered. When we expressed frustration with the front desk's handling of the situation, the technician focused on our criticism of a coworker rather than our dog's immediate welfare. The veterinarian later apologized, treated us kindly, provided water, and gave our dog appropriate care. We appreciated her professionalism and were pleased with the clinical care she provided. Unfortunately, the assistant practice manager interrupted the end of the appointment and offensively defended the staff, explaining that the text had been sent in error by the corporate office and provided other excuses. She did not meaningfully address that we had been left outside in extreme heat or that no one apologized or assisted our medically vulnerable dog. Instead, she called us rude and we should have verified the false instruction and be nice to her staff. As the discussion became tense, she asked us to leave for not just accepting her excuses, while the veterinarian continued apologizing and encouraged us to stay to resolve the matter. This incident could have been prevented with accurate communication, better staff training, basic consideration for an elderly and medically fragile animal, and a sincere apology once their error became clear. Aside from the veterinarian, we experienced no accountability or meaningful apology, rather we were attacked for calling out their incompetence in handing the situation. The administrative and management response showed a serious lack of judgment, training, accountability, and concern for animal safety. Rather than addressing the circumstances that put our dog and us at at risk in extreme heat, management focused on defending staff and criticizing our response. If your animal is elderly and medically fragile, or unable to tolerate heat or prolonged standing, I urge you to choose another practice. Based on our experience, we do not trust this management team to put a vulnerable animal's or their owners safety first when communication or service failures occur. No pet owner should face the possibility that following a clinic's written instructions could place their animal or themselves at risk--and then be blamed for being unhappy with their poor treatment and raising the concern.

Made an apt in advance for 4:45pm, showed up at 4:30. Staff was inundated with customers but still very helpful. Didn't get into the patient room till 5pm. Sat there for about 10 minutes but had to wrangle my puppy the entire time because the room was NOT puppy proof! Had wires hanging from the desk setup. Could hear every conversation between staff through the walls (very unsettling!) When Dr. Spiro walked in, he immediately sat at the desk and seemed irritated/fidgety on his laptop. No intro, I only know his name from my invoice paperwork. Threw some treats on the floor, not even asking me if it was ok (puppy has had restricted diet to see if he has any allergies). Told me to put my pup on the desk, you can see the small size of it in other reviews, and maybe! did a 30-45 second look. Gave my puppy a shot and something in his mouth, didn't tell me what they were. Asked what brand of food I've been feeding him and said ok, bring him back next month and packed his things up and left. Spent 25 minutes waiting for a 5 minute whatever that was still not knowing his name, what he gave my dog or why/what to come back for next month? I checked out at the counter and won't be going back.
