Upon arriving at the suite, we found low slanted ceilings where you would hit your head. One could not sit up in bed to read as there was the ceiling slanting in. The lamps on the end tables hit the ceiling. Our room was never made up and we were told that we had to request, which I asked the previous day. There is no air conditioning in the bedroom, the small living room had a floor air conditioner. The sofa in the bedroom has no lighting. The closet is a crawl space with few hangars. The tub retained water and one stood in inches of water while taking a shower. Will not return.

We turned ours on about 6 hours ago and it tries its hardest but I don't see it getting to the cool 67 that we'd like. Outside temp was only about 85 as a high today and it rained this afternoon which cooled things off more so I just worry that when it's 95 or 100 outside that it may be pretty uncomfortable in here but I don't know for sure. This is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. If A/C was on point this would be 5 stars without question.

There are hardly a plethora of choices in this New Hartford area of upstate NY. There is a Hampton…read moreInn and a Homewood Suites, unless you want to stay in Utica. Even then there are limited choices in Utica, the better options include a Marriott Delta Hotel (they bought and renovated an older chain hotel) and a Doubletree. We opted for the TownePlace Suites in New Hartford which was recently built. Positives: * We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite, with a full kitchen and plenty of room. * There was an indoor swimming pool and fitness room, though we didn't have time to use either. * Beds were quite comfortable. * Plenty of parking. Negatives * Very uncomfortable furniture! The small sleep sofa couch was rock hard. We used bed pillows to sit on and for back comfort. * The TVs are very small, surprising in the era of giant and inexpensive flat panels. There was plenty of room in the living room for a larger TV. Overall, the positives and negatives balance out for this 3 to 3.5 star hotel. We would stay here again, though we could opt for the Hampton Inn or Homewood Suites. However, this is an instance where the frequent guest reward programs do work for hotels. Since we are in the Marriott Rewards Program (and do get some great perks with that), we'd be more likely to stay here than the other comparable hotels mentioned.

That said, the cable reaches to about 4 spots. 3 were taken by gas powered cars, including the one that had a sign designating it for EV vehicles only. Besides that, the hotel room design was spectacular. Sadly the air conditioner, refrigerator, and guests above us competed for our attention all night long and neither of us got much sleep. Breakfast was free. No waffles, but eggs, sausage, bread, cereal. Staff wore masks. Most patrons did not, even while serving breakfast to themselves from the buffet. While checking out, another family interrupted to check out quickly, the employee recognized their name and told them she was the person they'd spoken to last night and that she reduced their room price for them. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast and weren't sure what to expect. This place exceeded our expectations. The mansion itself is beautiful. Every time we walked around the house we discovered more treasures, everything from the molding to antique pieces. The property has a lovely view of the Erie Canal. Each morning there was coffee waiting or us outside our door on a beautifully arranged tray. Then we went down to breakfast. I hate to repeat myself but the table was also beautifully arranged. We tried several different dishes during our stay, each one delicious. Our host, John and Rebecca, were there for our every need, without being intrusive. After running around all day It was so relaxing to return to our room each night. We asked several relatives to stop by and see the place. Our Aunt was thrilled as she had driven by hundreds of times and never been inside. She was not disappointed. One extra point. I actually decided it would be OK to check out, as from the road it appeared very well kept. The owner Mark was very friendly and accomodating. Although the motel probably dates back to the 60's or 70's, eveything was very clean and in perfect working order. It was comfortable and quiet, and served our purpose well while working a contract at a local hospital. Will stay again if the needs arise!!!
