She was a gem and even gave us 1/2 off coupons to go skiing. It was decorated beautifully and it's location is great for those who want to walk to shops and restaurants. Highly recommended!

This place is both peaceful and fun. Enjoy some reading time on the ample patio. Walk wherever you need to go or job the local trail along the Powder River as I did. This was a great alternative to hotel living while I worked a couple of weeks in the area. Terry and Jeanne were flexible on my timing and the rate and were fantastic to work with. I moved my coworker into the Upper Suite within days as all my coworkers were super jealous.

Fall Mountain Lookout Tower is situated about 20 miles from John Day, in central Oregon. On a clear…read moreday the tower provides an amazing 360-degree view of the surrounding Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, as well as the towns of Seneca and Mt. Vernon. The lookout offers access to a variety of recreational activities. Our first visit to Fall Mountain was also our very first lookout tower rental. The booking window for this rental is six months in advance and the rental season is from May to November (roughly). Our experience was one like no other. We, like so many before us, struggled to locate the tower as we relied upon Google Maps to get us there. After, starting back at the Forest Road we turned onto, we then followed the written directions listed on the website. Once we arrived we began unpacking and getting acquainted with the 14-by-14 cabin space. The 18-foot tower gave us an amazing view of the sunset. We watched in awe. In addition to sightseeing, we hiked the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness the following morning. A wonderful place to fish, hunt and view wildlife. The lookout can accommodate just two people and provides few amenities. It can be accessed by vehicle although you're welcome to day hike to the tower from John Day. However guests are responsible for bringing many of their own supplies. The cabin is furnished with a futon bed and a table and chairs. It has electricity and in the kitchen area, an electric stove and refrigerator. The kitchen also contains pots, pans, dishes and tableware. A catwalk encircles the structure, allowing for unobstructed views of the surrounding area. A vault toilet is located near the base of the tower. There is no water available on site, so bring your own water for drinking, cooking and washing, as well as sleeping bags/bedding, a flashlight or lantern for emergencies, first aid kit, towels, garbage bags, toilet paper and dish soap. Since our first trip to the tower we have returned every summer for the past three years and we have rented other lookout towers/cabins throughout the state! Note, it is a bed and brew, not breakfast, so you'll have to go elsewhere for food! I recommend sweet wife bakery, they have very good cinnamon rolls!
