For our anniversary this year we stayed at Boyd Lodge and had the most blissful, quiet, relaxing day imaginable. Surrounded only by the sounds of the leaves falling from the trees we were able to truly connect and enjoy each other's company in a way that just isn't feasible at home. Thank goodness for the rest, relaxation, and opportunity to focus on our relationship. We returned home rejuvenated and full of gratitude for such a wonderful experience. Boyd Lodge is truly a gem and we look forward to planning another stay in the very near future! We'll bring our daughter along next time though, because Mommy missed her far too much.

It was nice having a couch and chairs that I could relax on rather than just having to sit on the bed. The odd thing to me, however, was that there's no closet and no great place to put your luggage. I think even a freestanding luggage rack would go a long way. They did have someplace to hang your clothes, but I do prefer an enclosed closet to cut down a clutter. I ended up putting my suitcase on a table. The breakfast selection was good. Very similar to other hotels like it. My biggest disappointment is that the associated restaurant is no longer open. It would be nice to wind down the evening with a glass of wine and a snack, but you can't have everything.

We had to extend our stay for three days due to a snow storm . Even though the hotel was full they managed to get us into a bigger more expensive room with a hot tub but charged us the same rate as we were paying before. Indoor pool clean , well maintained. Our cabin was Birchwood, it was as perfect as we could expect. 2 recliners are a rarities in a cabin. I tend to sleep better in them so I realy appreciated having the option. The owners were very accommodating and pleasant to work with. The beach is full of toys and playground activity as well as room for yard games and volleyball and the private campfires. Very relaxing My only suggestion would be a better game room for those rainy or cold days. Ice hockey, foosball, pinball or pool table, stuff like that but otherwise... Breakfasts were good and the place was really quiet at night. It also has a really nice, good-sized indoor pool. It's located just on the outskirts of the town so there's plenty of shopping and lake access in a very short walking/driving distance. Best of all, loons in the lake! Cons: The rooms, or at least the one we had, are a bit dated. Everything certainly looked clean, but definitely a bit worn down. One special note, for those getting the 'economy' room (307?); the bathroom needs some rework. The shower could fit 4 people easily, but the toilet is unbelievably low and is jammed into a corner, making the 'sit down' experience a bit of an adventure. I'm 5' 8" and 225 lbs., and it was definitely an 'issue.' If you're bigger than me, avoid this room until they redo the bathroom. Definitely not enough to take a star off, but something you and they should be aware of.
