Front side on arrowhead is quite simple, short holes that climax at the 7th which is a 200 yard par 3 straight up hill. Back side is certainly a challenge with narrow fairways and elevated greens on almost every hole. Extremely friendly staff with a great snack shack in the club house.

Bangor Muni is pound-for-pound the best golf course in the greater Bangor area. With 27 total…read moreholes (one 18-hole course plus the bonus "Kelly 9"), it's always easy to get on even during peak times. For practice, it has two oversized pitching/putting greens by the clubhouse and an easy-to-use, coin-operated range (tip: do the 3 for $10 deal). The course is typically in excellent shape, and while it has very few water hazards, it makes up for it with multiple doglegs, undulating greens, and well-placed bunkers. The course has several weeknight events and tournaments on the weekend, appealing to all levels of golfers. For example, my wife loves the "Wine and 9" ladies night, which features group instruction and drinks/snacks at the end. There are a variety of membership options that can save you some money, but overall, it's quite affordable to play, and I tend to opt for the 10-play passes (available for greens fees and cart), which provide a small discount. The ballpark cost of playing 18 with a cart is $40-45. After your round, the siren song of the attached Hero's restaurant/19th hole (with an incredible deck overlooking beautiful scenery) will demand your presence and assist you with either drowning out that crucial missed par putt or celebrating a record round. It features a solid draft beer lineup (typically BL, a rotating Sam Adams varietal, and Frye's Leap IPA) with several alternative bottle options and a pared down menu from the main Hero's downtown location. It might be bar food, but it's high quality -- may I suggest the boneless wings with sweet potato fries or one of their killer wraps? You'll thank me. On weekends, they even feature a popular brunch. There was two tee boxes per hole and a few holes that were surprisingly tricky. At hole 3 theres this great brook that runs by the property adding to the relaxing vibe. There was a huge bus full of old clubs the owner let my friend borrow some so he could play a round with us. Rocky the owner told us he built the place by hand over the last 20 or so years, and has quite a few interesting stories from its history. We really enjoyed the spot!

We had our October 2015 wedding at the Lakewood. It is a fantastic wedding space. The…read morewhitewashed, wood, and light blue palette can fit in with a lot of different styles, and the two stone fireplaces give it a cozy, classic feeling (and are fantastic places for beautiful flower bouquets)! There is a horseshoe bar out in the room, making it easy for people to get drinks without having to line up, and the open space is very flexible, allowing lots of different layouts. We had 120 guests, and all the tables fit in with a good sized dance floor, fireplace sitting area, buffet, bar, and we still had plenty of space to move around. There is a beautiful green space out back that is great for yard games, or other outdoor activities, and the front porch with rocking chairs looking out on the course is a relaxing space for guests to take a breather from the festivities. On top of being an excellent space, the owners are friendly, helpful, and willing to work with you on whatever you want to do with the space. The only downsides are that you need to provide your own decor/table settings, and that the space is not heated or air conditioned. I don't know how much could be done about the air conditioning in a hot season, but the two fireplaces handle heating the place just fine for even an early spring or late fall wedding. It was 40 degrees the day of our wedding, and we ended up having to open the doors to cool it off because it was so warm in there with both fires roaring. I thought it was an easy and charming place for a wedding reception, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get married (or host another event) in the area.

My husband and father in law played this course today. They were having a special $23. for each of…read morethem for 9 holes. 18 holes would be only an additional $2. This included the cart that they went in. Great course the greens are top notch and in beautiful condition. There was a sign I read when we drove up " Maine law you are prohibited to take your own alcoholic beverages in your cart". On that note I am glad we live in Florida. They paid their fees and are allowed to take the cart over to the car to get their clubs. Some courses back home this isn't the case. By far this is more convenient and user friendly. They have great facilities on site to get drinks and food. As well as clean rest rooms. On the course itself they have a restroom around the third hole. It would probably make more sense further down. Everyone that works here is very friendly and helpful. The other golfers were very nice as well. However the only other women there worked in the restaurant. So ladies if you are looking are where all the men are you can look for them here.
