Sooooooo Homie

Just what we needed Relaxation ..We will be back next summer hopeful we can make it on a weekend when it's no rain But we enjoy ourselves

Found this critter in the tub the next morning.

I recently stayed here with my family for a weekend getaway. I couldn't believe the filth we encountered. The pictures are just a sample of what we expert. There was a strong mildew smell throughout the unit. Blood stain on the comforter. Rotting wood. Electrical outlet hanging out of the wall in the bathroom. Upstairs bedroom was a converted attic space with one door and no windows. There is no management onsite and the only way to communicate is through email. This place should be condemned!

One of the chalets near the entrance.

The chalets here are all multi-room rental homes, so they're best for large groups. If what you're looking for is a romantic getaway for two, I'd recommend a bed & breakfast instead. The chalets are not upscale - they're rustic and located in the woods with a small man-made lake in the middle of the complex. It's a peaceful setting, but don't expect your getaway to be completely bug-free. The chalets are generally clean and have kitchens and decks that are good for grilling and parties. Not all the chalets have their own wireless networks, but there is free wi-fi in the community. The signal can be a bit weak in some of the chalets, and when the complex is near capacity because of large events, it can be difficult to connect.

We stayed in Chalet #50

We needed a place to retreat from the hustle & bustle of life.... and we found it! I asked for a chalet tucked away from noise & when arriving, we were more than pleased. A deck was greeting when we arrived and in the back was woods as far as we could see. Peaceful & beautiful view of the woods looking through all the windows. We enjoyed a walk around the lake and stopped off by a swing to watch the ducks. We definitely will be back.

Weird deer bust in the livingroom.

Ocean Watch - Tybee Island Beach looking South mid-tide

Ocean Watch

(1 review)

We stayed at the Pelicans Landing # 204 with balcony facing an Alley named Atlantic Ave. The 3 or…read more4 story building is about 4 years old according to Pat the resident manager and in great shape. It's about one city block from the beach/ocean. The building's west end is on the main drag , Butler Ave. and another adjacent attached beach rental on the oceanside or East end, another rental is to the north. The rooms at Pelican are very nice with all the amenities anyone would expect from a rental with full kitchen, 2 baths, 3 bedrooms and very nice living room with wood floors and nice balcony for morning coffee. Most of the normal supplies are there to utilize if needed. The walk to the beach takes about 5 minutes or less depending on how much stuff you want to take, including people. We were there with some of our gen-x kids and our grandson. Of course this was the little ones (2 1/2 yrs old) first visit to an ocean and all went well with that experience over about a weeks time. Tybee beach is a nice family beach, and we were there the 3rd week of May and left just in time to avoid most of the super crush of Memorial Day 2015. But Saturday and Sunday that last weekend the small town filled up for the first big weekend of the season. The Pelican provides spaces for 2 cars per unit, we only had one. Very close to most tourist shopping and attractions from ice-cream parlors, restaurants, bars and all kinds of beach and bike rentals. Across Butler Ave. is the Sunrise Cafe, probably for the locals as well as the tourist with classic traditional American food faire, open until 2:00 in the afternoon. It's a good deal. Needless to say in a tourist beach town the closer to a weekend and the summer after schools are out for the year, the atmosphere winds up in the overnight with a younger crowd, but during the day normalcy returns for the not so young and restless. The beach scene is great on Tybee, watching and playing the various tides daily. More than enough beach for any youngsters. We had any issues taken care of by Pat and whatever crew she summoned for anything that needed fixing or supplied. We got an extra light fixture for the living room, some more beach chairs and paper supplies plus a new shower curtain that didn't want to stay up. I'd recommend that when making reservations deal directly with Pat or Kathleen as going through TripAdvisor is such a trip if you know what I mean. I.E. Pat is not a robot. The Tybee Island Beach town has tons of eating places, some famous such as in ' The Crab Shack ' among other fun places, endless hiking and biking trails, wildlife viewing and many other features we never got to in one week but probably will in the future. Personally I got my quota of seafood dinners in, really tasty. So the place was very comfortable with nice A/C and plenty of room for the 5 of us. The little guy had a great time inside or on the beach. What else can I say, it was fun! I'd recommend folks wanting to stay a week stop by 2 islands in on the way to Tybee Island all kinds of stores from Walmart, Target and Publix are available to pick up supplies before setting up at your rental. That way you can get all the fixins when you're eating in instead of out. I'll give this place 4 stars, probably really gets busier in the summer as we were there in May, but weather was great and ocean water was warm, overall great stay.

Couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. In both cases, the villas we got exceeded our expectations. The company was very hands on in helping us arrange airport travel, a chef, and even a pre-stocked fridge. In Playa, the local rep working with Villas Caribe took us to the supermarket, recommended her favorite restaurants, and helped us get a prime spot for a group of 10 at Diablito Cha Cha Cha. I doubt the latter "comes standard" but we appreciated the personal concierge touch. Wish they had more options in the Mediterranean but when it comes to the Caribbean, we will definitely go this route in the future.

Several companies have the listing of the house I booked, and Villas Caribe had the same price but attractive website. I called to book for a 10 day stay in STJ in April, 2012. The booking girl 'Brittany' was very helpful and cheerful. She took the details, verified the next year price with the owners and got all approved, then sent me the lease agreement paperwork. I WAS EXCITED TO BE BOOKING MY VACATION AND GOT CAUGHT IN A TECHNICALITY!!!! The agreement states a credit card fee (NO AMOUNT OR PERCENTAGE STATED) but I let my excitement miss this detail. So, I booked my vacation and charged it to my CC, along with travel insurance. When I checked back I found a 3.5% CONVENIENCE FEE!!! (AND THEY CHARGED ME MORE FOR INSURANCE THAN THE AGREEMENT STATED).. THEY STILL HAVE NOT EXPLAINED THAT!! I called back (within a few hours) and asked for the charge to be reversed and I will wire transfer the booking fee. They told me 'accounting' wont allow a reversal WITHOUT STILL CHARGING THE 3.5% FEE!!!. I am in business and know that a cc charge can always be reversed, especially since I requested a reversal within 24 hours. ANYWAY.... READ ALL THE FINE PRINT AND EXPECT ANY CHARGES TO BE MUCH HIGHER THAN EXPECTED. IF THEY CAN 'GET' YOU THEY WILL!! I am stuck with them this time but will NEVER use them again! REPEAT: 3.5% CC 'CONVENIENCE' FEE UNWILLING TO REVERSE CHARGES CHARGE MORE FOR TRAVEL INSURANCE THAN THEY STATED. Terrible way to start a vacation. Oh, yeah.... I asked for a manager or owner to call..... Some guy named Stewart called and would not help me at all. Ignored my emails, wont call back.

We found this cabin on VRBO and vacationed here twice, so far. Incredibly nice owners and a…read morebeautiful house. It's not right on the lake, but up on a hill above the owners' house. But that shouldn't be and hasn't been a problem. There's an included six-passenger golf cart to ride down the hill and back up (and I guess to ride anywhere else, although there's really nowhere else to go within golf cart range). The house itself is more than a cabin. It is three levels of wood-walled beauty, inside and out. The main floor has a remote-controlled gas fireplace, a smallish TV and sound system, and several recliners. There is a dinette table with seating for maybe 8 and a kitchen with an island. The main bedroom is here, with no en suite bathroom...you have to leave the master bedroom to pee. But it is a large bedroom with east- and south facing windows. The lake is to the north. Outside, towards the lake, there's a protected wooden deck with a bench and a very large patio table and chairs. A screen door leads out to the gas grill and front porch. Heading up, there is a loft with two twin-sized beds hanging from chains. I never slept in these, incredibly. There's a desk area at the top of the stairs, overlooking the main level and a small balcony that looks south. Nothing too exciting here. There's a stairwell on the main level down to the lower level that begins right outside of the door to the main level bathroom and bedroom. I was never drunk enough to accidentally tumble down it, but beware this navigational hazard. And if you are taller than maybe 6'0" (I'm 6'4" and had to duck quite a bit), you need to proceed with caution, as the 90-degree turn to the left halfway down has a low clearance. The downstairs has a large common area, with a couch, big TV, gaming console, and a kitchenette with fridge. There's also a bathroom with a cool glass block shower. A bedroom with double bunk beds has a utility room with a washer and dryer...these come in handy if you'll be here for more than a couple of days. Head outside on the bottom level and you'll find a pleasant area with a fire pit (and supplied and seasoned wood), a wooden deck with a picnic table, which is covered by the wooden deck of the main floor. A concrete walk curves around and up to the parking area and main floor porch. The main floor porch has some comfy, rustic, wooden rocking chairs that are ideal for sitting in, drinking coffee, and appreciating a quiet morning. This is also how you enter the cabin when you get here. Overall, our two stays here were great. We'll be back, at some point. If you are looking to visit the area, check it out. [I took about a hundred pictures of this place and uploaded them previously, but I deleted them afterwards and they no longer show up. Sorry!]

I was really looking forward to having the short rib. Unfortunately when we were seated our waitress told us they didn't have it that day. While ordering drinks my husband was ordering beer and he was told they didn't sell what he was asking for. Even though it was listed on the menu. He ended up ordering whatever the waitress suggested and we ordered the shrimp cocktail while we looked over the menu. The shrimp cocktail was very good. For dinner I ordered the filet with lobster and my husband the Pork shank. My filet came out overcooked but was promptly fixed. The lobster was amazing ! My husband wasn't a big fan of the pork. We did order a cheesecake for dessert that was also really good. Overall our experience was pleasant but food wise not what I'd expected from the other reviews. However the service was great. The owner is so nice and spent time socializing at each table. He even came to make sure my second set of fillets were good to go. Our waitress is also very nice. I can see us trying this place out again. Hopefully on a night they have short rib.
