Here I am in Van Horn, TX, for a quick stop at Pilot for gas and restroom break. There was only one gas pump per aisle which is not maximizing its usage IMHO... at least 2 pumps per aisle at a minimum... maybe there wasn't a lot of space for more... oh well. Restrooms were clean. I also did a little perusing through the aisles to see if there were any good snacks to nibble on till I got to my resort. I ended up getting a couple bags of chips... Fritos original corn chips and Cheetos crunchy... they had a sale buy one get one half price so why not LOL. The cashier named Steve was a really nice gentleman. Thank you Steve for your great customer service. I appreciate you. All in all a nice stop... till the next one! Happy Pilot'ing! read more

Great store with a very clean bathroom. I liked the food selection and variety of beef jerkey.

NOT TRUCKER FRIENDLY! No Coffee, No cream, No sweetener! I asked the so proclaimed manager/janitor why couldn't they grab milk from cooler he gave me attitude and told me to "get the eff out"! Really Pilot? Warren Buffet... you can do better! read more

I went through hell to get here after a massive storm and Sierra Blanca told me no can do, go to Van Horn. So here I am. Long wait, but I don't care so long as I can get gas in my car. read more

I like this stop. I can get gasoline, good service and Wendy's sandwiches. They have always given us good service in both locations and you can go back and forth easily. The price of gasoline is reasonable. The parking lot is clean. I recommend popping in if you need a rest or a quick stop. read more

Quick stop for a bathroom break...the bathroom was fairly clean. The gas stalls were busy and the diesel pumps were full of semi trucks pumping diesel. read more

5 stars just because it was the first place with public toilets after leaving Marfa. If you are headed to Marfa from El Paso, this too is your last chance to use the facilities. There is a Wendy's here too. But Buc-cee's it ain't. read more

Pilot Travel Center in Van Horn Texas is similar to many others on any interstate. A reliable gas station with all the items you may need while traveling by car. Drinks, snacks, restrooms, souvenirs etc.. This specific Pilot Travel Center gets a 3 out of 5 because of its size and because it was definitely not up to cleaning standards. There is a Wendys attached to it. read more

literally rushed me out the fuel island over the speaker and nobody was behind me! they just kept yellin at me to move my truck and wasnt holding on nlockin any other driver. i will never come back here or tell a driver to come here. staff must be bored to have drivers come tell me "whats there problem theres novody even behind u?" jus nerve recking read more

There are a couple of panhandlers outside the door. One kept going by the ice machine to count his money. We sat and watched their scheming. I did not feel safe. I tried to call both Pilot and Wendy's but neither one would pick up the phone. read more

Really helpful people here. Nice stop- big store and clean restrooms. We are traveling in an RV, so we grabbed dinner from Wendy's to eat in the RV and the clerk recommended we just stay in their parking lot tonight. And took the time to show us rest stop options as well. Thanks! read more

I love Pilot travel centers. They are also associated with Flying J. They offer a good selection of drinks, snacks, finger foods and other items as well. If you are part of the rewards program you can get .03 cents off per gallon. You can also get free coffee after you buy several cups, I thinks it's buy nine get one free. Most locations have a fast food chain attached to them as well. read more

Worst pilot in the country. Trucks blocked out to the Road. Can't even get in to fuel, eat, shower, etc. Called store. They did nothing about it. Saw atleast 12 trucks blow horns and leave. We left as well. Truckers are the main reason They in business. Just plain sorry! Thanks to the UPS truck blocking everyone. Should have contacted his company. Truck # 34760. Setting there like he was falling a sleep out on the street. He doesn't need to be driving. read more

what ever you do do not buy furl here you will regret it I bought fuel here now my injectors are fill with water and my truck won't start now I have to spend thousands to get towed and repaired THEY ARE SELLING PEOPLE WATER read more

This place is very dirty! The restrooms are beyond filthy. And I know Pilot can afford to hire someone to keep the restrooms clean. And several are out of order. So there is a huge line waiting to use the restroom. There is a Love's right up the street, I'd suggest you go there. Anywhere but here! BAD BAD BAD!!! read more

Very small and limited truck parking but it's not too bad overall, there is a Wendy's and PJs super market at this Pilot location.

Taking a cross country road trip, I would look for Pilot for the restrooms and gas, there is a great selection of snacks.

Bathrooms ok, no change. No change really. So the kid looses .88. Doesn't sound like much but I want coffee, my husband wants coffee. The pumps won't take cards have to give to cashier..... hummmm read more

Very clean, big parking, clean shower, cheap diesel, every time stop this place, when I go from Dallas read more

This is one of the most incredible truck stops after pregnancy I ordered the chili cheese fries hamburger

The cashier was not very customer friendly. This place is almost always spotless. Very clean no complaints about that. Im only giving them two stars cause I didn't know that they dont give you no credit for using your own cup. Which I think is crap, if anything they should let you know when you let them know you are trying to get a refill. read more

This pilot is very unkempt. The bathrooms are nasty the clothing is just thrown on the racks not hung up.

I pulled up like a bat out of hell (Arizona cave srt8 reference lol, and they told me to slow down or someone else will tell me. I asked who? And got sent to the best enchiladas I've ever had in my mouth. I love them so much I haven't left lol I came back thru here 3 times and it all started with getting pulled over lmao!! Thank you staff, it was you who reported the officer treatment. I'm glad you're looking out for us too. We are ALL OFFICERS, land of the free ! read more

Pumps were extremely slow. Bathrooms dirty Very congested. No RV Island. Without RV island everything backs up. Didn't buy food. People were friendly and service was helpful read more

Had to swipe credit card multiple times. Extremely long lines here. Slow gas pumping. Better to go to chevron down the street.

If your passing through better stop cause Van Horne is basically an island on land. Either way your driving east or west your going to need gas, this Pilot station is not as updated as the others are but they pretty much have the same thing. read more

Would give it 0 stars if we could. Negative stars, even. We rolled in with my wife having digestive trouble, and needing a rest room very quickly. The Women's room was closed; and the women were all directed to an alternate rest room, where there was a huge line. In the meantime, the Men's room was empty - they asked if they could perhaps borrow the Men's to get some relief, and the staff said "No!" They seemed to be completely unresponsive, and from what I could see, nobody was working on the broken women's room at all. What's up with that? Terrible way to treat women, unresponsive to human distress, no desire to make anything better. Never go here if you are a woman; the whole place was rather creepy to start with, and my wife says "We're never going to a Pilot again!" read more

I have been here a few time on my way through town. I realize that others have marked this with bad reviews, but each time I have stopped in it has been easy to get to, the pumps don't have any issues and the restroom has been clean. The few times I have interacted with the staff, they have been friendly and helpful. read more

I travel full time in an RV. I had to see the cashier to get the diesel pump to work. She charged my card for a specific amount and told me that if I did not use it all, that it would be credited back to my card. I did not use it all and have had the correct amount charged to the card. Then after I left the store, someone tried to charge $500 onto my card. Fortunately, it was denied as my card company wanted to verify the charge. Unfortunately, someone at this store is using credit card information to make illegal charges. They do not answer their phone. I have tried numerous times to call them and explain the situation to the manager. But no answer. Therefore, this review. read more

This has to be the best travel center I have ever encountered. Clean, clean, clean. They have a Cinnabon bakery inside and all kinds of food, drinks and items for the weary traveler. What I found very nice was they had a counter with homemade food such as meatloaf, mashed potatoes and vegetables. How nice to be able to get a homemade type meal out on the road at a travel center no less. There was plenty of seating available as well. Did I mention cleanliness. This travel center has free WiFi available as well. I definitely took advantage of that. I will stop here every time. read more

This is not one of my favorite Pilot's. We come through here about twice a year and it is usually dirty and a huge line. This time it was clean though and the lines were short. I hope they continue to keep it clean. We try not to stop at this Pilot and would advise other travelers to try and avoid it. read more

Pilot Travel Center - Gas Stations Near Me - Van Horn, Texas

OK so I first went to the Valero that was across the street. A huge mistake. The parking lot where you pull to the pumps has potholes and is falling apart. When I went inside, the woman working the register was not friendly. They said they can only take cash as their credit card machine didn't work. Their bathroom was closed to customers. I went across the street to the Pilot gas station and what a difference! They were clean, had a working credit card machine, and they even have a Wendy's attached to buy lunch!!! Go to Pilot instead when in van Horn. read more

Worst customer service I've seen in a while Two cashiers on their phones while a.line wrapped over the entire front of store. When I said something, she looked at me like I was crazy for bothering her. They also did not have adequate stock. I was going to buy 5 cartons of cigs and they didn't have them. I thought the Pilot I was in last night was bad when they didn't have coffee and didn't want to make any! Someone needs to get in some people's asses! .. read more

Our first stop at this Pilot, and we're soooo glad we did stop here. Traveling across country by RV and low on water but so wanted a shower mid-day. All personnel at Pilot were friendly and efficient. Showers were immaculate, towels clean and fluffy and even warmed for us. Entire establishment clean, and food looked and smelled delicious; too bad we had already eaten lunch!!! Highly recommend this Pilot for whatever your travel needs may be!!! read more

This is an excellent stop. Everything was clean and functional, and the staff were all respectful. The restrooms were a welcome reprieve

Unbelievable. I'm traveling 1400 miles. Stopped here to top off my tank. (A total of $15.00). They pre-authorized my card for $151.00! I don't have that much to spare on my low budget, 2 day journey to get to my new job. I called. They won't credit it back for at least 48-72 hours. My bank can't do anything since it's pending. But it's deducted from my account. Who does this!!!!! read more

This Pilot station is disgusting. Filthy, smelly, creepy, and worst of all, houses a Wendy's staffed by no one that looks over 18. On March 14, 2009, my husband and I ate here and got food poisoning- explosive diarrhea, projectile vomiting and all. The culprit was undercooked and lukewarm beef. Unfortunately this Wendy's is the only place open after 10:30 in this godforsaken shithole. read more

If I could give a zero star I could. First of all, they had no signs saying you had to prepay. I swiped a card after waiting for a spot for 20 minutes (because everyone had to prepay apparently) and it said "see attendant". I then went in to see the attendant. Waited in line for 5 minutes to prepay. They wanted me to know how much to put in and I wanted to fill it up. "No we can't hold your drivers license" they said. I told them $20 and gave cash. I then went out to pump. I didn't fill it up because this place after my 30 minute fill up needed no more of my money! About an hour down the road I get a fraud alert text that someone tried to use my card!! I cancelled the card and I'm on a road trip. This place needs shut down till they figure out what is going on. I didn't even put in my zip code into the pump. WORST GAS STATION EVER! read more

Worst place ever to stop for fuel. old pump with unreadable displays, 45 minutes waiting in Wendys for lunch, disgusting bathrooms (don't touch anything!!!) and inbred travelers looking for out of state plates thinking to shake people down for $$$. Used have a favorable impression of Texas, but if the rest of the state is similar to Van Horn, then I'd rather stay in Illinois (which really sucks too!!) read more

Once again, this fine fuel & food stop earns 5-stars and my "Wheel of Approval!" because it was a late and needed stop for me whilst Eastbound to visit a good friend in GrandfallsTX-USA. What really facilitated the quickness was my being able to put the charge on my VISA credit card and NOT having to go inside the physical building. I was tempted to enjoy a treat from the same-building Wendys, but resisted for the same reason--no need to wait in line at this rather congested facility. I have very good feelings about this facility; five years ago, 12JUN2011, I had just pedaled from FabensTX-USA, some 100miles/160kms, which caused me to marvel because my current condition (sarcopenia) severely limits my cycling distances. However, I wondered if it was the strong tailwind that convinced me whilst eating in Sierra Blanca that pedaling to Van Horn would be easy (it was--until climbing through the Van Horn mountains). Some 14 hours after departing Fabens, I called my #1 son in Houston (and turn-around point at the end of the month), informing him of my tremendous success. I didn't call him 24-hours later, when I was barely able to pedal 45miles/72kms, camping between US90 & the fence, enervated, dehydrated & desperate due to no water. Fortunately, USBP agents Lily & Jay did their job and investigated the apparent vagabond (me), but I'm legal and carry papers; doubling my fortune, they gave me cold, clean freshwater, ensuring that my biketour would continue. Anyway, this Pilot Travel Center is an excellent stopping point for all travelers going East or South; take care of both your motor vehicle/18-wheeler and body. Enjoy! read more
