Brad Jones was initially very responsive and on March 1, 2021 we sent over all of our tax documentation and got back immediate confirmation that everything had been received and they would begin tax prep right away. A month later, April 1, having not had any further communciation, we reached out via email for a status update and to see if they required anything else from us. We received no response, so we reached out by phone again a week later, on April 8. At first when we asked for a status update we were told by Hannah Johnson that Tax Day had been extended to May 17. Putting aside the fact that our questions was not "When is Tax Day?"(our question was "Why has it taken more than a month to prepare our taxes?"), we didn't submit our paperwork in March to wait until Tax Day - we submitted our paperwork in March to be filed ASAP. After some further pressing Hannah told us that our forms were in the final stages and were waiting on approval from Ryan West and we should receive the final copy in the next day or two. Ryan reached out that same day with one additional question, which we were able to answer immediately. We did end up receiving the completed forms later that afternoon, as well as a $500 invoice for the services. When asked for a breakdown of the charges we were informed that TriStar uses an hourly fee, and that our taxes took approximately 3.5 hours of prep. Given that it took 3.5 hours to prepare them, I'm still uncertain as to why it took THIRTY-NINE DAYS (30 business days) to get them back. We paid the $500 fee immediately, e-signed the documents immediately, and received confirmation that our forms were executed on April 9. We were led to believe that that was all that was needed on our part, and our taxes owed would be withdrawn from our checking account upon approval from the IRS. On April 22 (taxes had still not left our account) we received an email from Hannah asking if we had received the forms to sign, as they could not file our return without them. We immediately responded that we HAD received them, signed them, and sent her a screenshot of our confirmation email from TWO WEEKS previous. We did not get a response to this, so we reached out again on April 26 to verify that there was nothing else required on our part. Only then did we receive confirmation that our taxes had indeed been filed and accepted by the IRS on April 22. The money was drafted from our account on April 27. So, to be clear: It took 56 days (39 business days) to do what we are led to believe was 3.5 hours of work. This cost us $500 (not including the taxes we owed). For this I offer two stars: One for completing the work (however slowly) and one for completing it accurately (I assume). I would absolutely not recommend TriStar Associates to anyone I like or respect, and will not be using their services again.

I sent a request through their online form after business hours, and I had a response at 8 AM the next day. I met with Justin, and he was friendly and professional. I told him I had had a bad experience in the past with an accountant charging me hourly and ending up with a huge bill. He agreed to give me a set price and told me about it up front. No hidden fees. I got him my paperwork about 3 weeks before the deadline, and he had everything done within a week. He called with bad news-I owed a TON of money, but he did a great job of helping me find things that I could expense that I missed. He helped reduce what I owed by about a quarter. He helped me file for both my small businesses-real estate and photography, and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend him!
