I'm not sure which course some of these 1 star reviews are for but it can't be this place. This is without question, the best bang for your Buck anywhere near Philadelphia. With the layout, conditions, and challenge of the holes here, they could charge twice as much and I'd still think it was a fantastic deal. I've played this course about 15 times in the past 12 months. The course is ALWAYS in great condition. Pilgrims Oak is by far the best bang for your buck as far as golf courses go. I drive about an hour to play here. I've only ever had one issue with the Ranger telling us to speed up. We were a twosome sandwiched in between 2 foursomes. We couldn't go anywhere. I think he mistook us for a part of one of the foursomes. He was pretty grumpy. He actually told us to hit into the group in front of us. Last weekend I was with a threesome and it took 5 hours to play a round. It was a Sunday and it was PACKED. But in their defense, they do a really good job of letting all the golfers know about the proper pace of play. They let you know when you get your cart, when you check in, and when you're teeing off. Plus, the ranger is constantly driving around. They always tell you that if you can't see the group in front of you, you're too slow. They also give you a "gentle reminder" when you cross from 9 to 10 about your pace. If you're too slow, they'll let you know. Not much else they can do. In all honesty, the pace of play issues you read about in these reviews should be absolutely overshadowed by the condition an play of the course. It's an A+++ course. Definitely worth playing - as often as you can. Stop what you're doing and book a tee time right now. **Note: they recently re-sloped the course and it is now much more challenging. While it sucks for me on a couple holes off the tee (because I am not a distance hitter), it really tests all areas of your game and makes you think about each shot. :) read more

Excellent value. Some difficulty in going from cart path to green on par 3 12th hole. Could add a staircase for older folk.

I saw some negative reviews and was quite shocked. This is one of our favorite courses.We have been playing there since it opened. It is a beautiful layout and well maintained. Course is very uneven and hilly...good if u are a goat or don't mind constant up or down lies........cart paths are often too far off greens...most recent experience the staff made a very poor decision about mandating cart path only on a course that was dry.................wont be going back anytime soon. read more

This golf course was very beautiful! Especially since we haven't had any rain in a while. It's very open but at the same time has some bunkers, water, and fescue to make it more challenging. If you can driver well you will be fine on the this course. Some of the views from the tee boxes are amazing. Definitely want to play here again! read more

I will never go back there. We were a four some on Fathers Day. Played 4 hrs 20 min. Starter was rude to us when asking us to speed up on the front and back nine. The time we took to play 18 holes is the norm. I have been playing golf over 40 years and never treated so rudely!!! read more

Horrible horrible course. It has gone downhill steadily since it opened and today took the cake. Tee boxes and most of the greens were in very bad shape with burn lines from what we were told was hydraulic fluid on number 3. To boot the starter/ranger told us no-one was on the course and to have fun. Only to follow up and let or foursome know we had to speed it up which I blew a gasket on since to was a holiday and there were nothing but threesomes on the course. Mr Ranger threesomes tend to play faster than a foursomes "YOU IDIOT". You should have said please and also let those threesomes they should take their time and enjoy the day. By the way my foursome let 2 of those threesomes play through You're not welcome and played 18 holes in a total time of 4 hours and 15 minutes and beat the thunderstorm. Aerate your greens and seed those tee boxes but we will never be back..... read more

DATE PLAYED: 04/14/17 The course was in good shape for being early in the season. In my opinion this course is near perfect! The length is good also well as many challenging holes no matter what your handicap is. Hole #12 is a par 3 and is forever in my head. Great course but Shane is the worst manager and needs to be removed from this course. Golf now cancelled our reservation 10 minutes before our start and he would not fit us on. We drove an hour to play this course. Tanglewood is accommodating and has much better management. read more

My wife and I play this course at least 7 or 8 times over the summer and very rarely take more than four hours to complete a round. Most public courses have outings that slows play significantly and I can't remember the last time there was an outing at Pilgrims. Since we live in New Jersey it typically takes us 1.5 hours to drive to Pilgrims, so only play courses that we know play quick, have a nice layout, and are in good shape. And after having played this course well over 100 times, we have never once had an issue with slow play or being treated rudely. Come to nj and play and you will really know what slow play and being treated rudely is really like. Plus you will have the privilege of paying twice or three times as much for a course the same caliber as Pilgrims. It is always possible to have a bad experience, but having played this course also many times without any issues, I will continue to play Pilgrims and have no worries about slow play or being treated rudely. The course did not honor our tee time (we were informed that it was cancelled when we were 10 minutes away from the course - after a 1 hour drive). What a waste of time. I give it a one star. The lay out is nice. The greens are in great shape. But really they get one star. Over 5 hour round of golf is to long. But here is the kicker. The group in front of us is 2 holes behind. At green side on 14 you can see 15 and all of 16. I told the group ahead of us look you are two holes behind. It is easy to see. So the old guy thanked me for pointing it out. I know sarcasm at its best but really? The guy in knickers playing with wooden clubs said nothing. Nice touch playing old school and all but play faster the cuteness runs out after 4 plus hours. Why the one star the ranger comes up to me at hole 14 no less and asks me not to say anything to the other guest about slow play. Where the hell were you for the past 14 holes. Don't show up on hole 14 and say anything. Money for golf is use of discretionary income. After play you want to remember a good time and say that was good use of my money. I can say it was far from it. 5 1/2 until we were done and out of the parking lot is to long and then to say something for doing their job takes the cake. Pass on this place unless you have all day. Had the pleasure of playing this course and love the layout; the condition of the greens, fairways, and rough were excellent. Additionally, Pete and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. What other golf course has 5 ice chests filled with ice cold water bottles for .50 cents....and uses an honor system to pay for them! This is a great southern Lancaster County golf course and will play it again and as often as I can. read more

Wish there was a zero star here. Great course but staff needs to keep pace of play moving. 18 holes should not be played in 5.5hours. Ridiculous!!!! A GC should not be robbing patrons with making them pay to play golf when it feels like you are under heavy sedation for a major operation!!! This is a great find in the rolling hills of southern Lancaster County. Bent grass tees, fairways and greens, maintained in superb condition, allow the ball to be played down throughout.
