We stopped in to see Ms Ritchfield 1981 and had a fabulous time. For one, the show actually started remotely in the ballpark of when it was supposed to which is a vast improvement from another venue nearby where we purchased tickets for a show the night before. I also like their strategy of having a waiter service for the drinks and it was more efficient than I was expecting. I drunkenly left a bag with a ptown souvie shirt the night before and bought another one because I was convinced I would never see it again. GF called and they actually looked and FOUND it!!!! I now have two identical shirts which was very convenient for gift giving. I would definitely return to see another show next time I am in town. read more

Arrived at 7 with dinner reservations at Royal Thai. Had reservations for the prior evening but they were canceled by Pilgrim House due to water leak. We placed our order by 7:10. At 8:15 no food yet and waiter asked what we had ordered while trying to locate our order on hand held computer. They kept seating folks at tables despite being understaffed in wait staff and perhaps in kitchen as well. I explained as a diabetic my blood sugar was going low. One of the few places that is open off season just three steps from Commercial St. We followed the Reindeer path. The restaurant is modern and cozy with a bar to sit on. They don't have draft beer or a drink menu but the bartender was really nice and willing to make us any drink desired. They cook Mexican food and breakfast here. We came to providence on a Sunday afternoon, and after a long day of walking you knew that there were many restaurants, it appeared as if though there was one restaurant on every block. The person in the front greeted us and was advertising by the menu in the front. I normally stay away such restaurants because it meant either business was slow, food was bad, simply desperate for business or all of the above. In addition, they were running a promotion where it was buy one entree and get second entree half price. That was another red flag for me. My group of 6 decided to come here for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised on the amazing food and service. The person in the front, which appeared to be the owner if the restaurant, was really nice from beginning to end. He did a lot of work, from advertising in the front to cleaning and clearing tables. I was very impressed with his attitude and energy. He realized my wife was pregnant and went next door to a candy store and got her a M&M chocolate pretzel stick. He really didn't have to, but he did and said this is for her because she was pregnant. He was so nice! Tony, our waiter was very helpful in confirming and recommending great tasting dishes. And everything that we ordered from brussel sprouts, fried eggplant fries, lobster mac and cheese, a beef short rib dish, and mixed seafood dish. The taste of each dish was so flavorful and each bite allowed my tastebuds to dance with celebration. When I come back to Provincetown, I will definitely be returning to this restaurant. read more

Two stars for the great location and the kind, responsive worker Bruce. Minus 3 stars for cleanliness and noise. Cleanliness - the bathroom looked like something out of a 2 star motel, mildewed grout, stained bath tub. The biggest problem was the shower curtain, had mold, what looked like blood! and hairs on it. Bruce changed it for me immediately. Noise- the walls are thin and if there are neighbors you will hear everything, next to you AND above you. We were woken up with stomping above us early and late. Smoke detector- the damn thing was tweeting randomly the entire time we were there. Bruce changed the battery for us but it still chirped and woke us up regularly throughout the night. So I write this review frustrated and sleep deprived, not how you want to leave your vacation. One other thing to add- the place has zero amenities- no electric kettle, coffee maker, ice machine etc. They also charge $50 per night to park. First time to Provincetown. Custom service here is the worst. You need to reserve parking, which the hotel does not let you know ahead of time. They sent 3 or 4 emails prior to arrival with no mention of parking. Management is completely unresponsive. I left 3 VM before arrival and another one to the Director of Operations after arrival. No response. No callbacks. The guy behind the desk was not helpful either. And gave us the wrong room key, which we did not realize until walking away. He did not know the address or name of a parking lot. He did point us in the general direction. He recommended a restaurant and then gave us the wrong directions to it. Public parking is 3 blocks away and is $40/day. read more

I only went to the drag brunch so this is specifically referring to that. We were given a pre-prepared plate of heated up sausage, eggs, and chicken wings. There was no opportunity to chose a different option for vegetarians, vegans, or anytime who wanted a quality meal. It looked like what you would get in a school cafeteria. No drinks were included, even got charged extra for hot drip coffee. We weren't given the option to have cream, sugar, or milk for the coffee either. Our waiter was very nice but had an insanely bad memory and kept giving us drinks that we hadn't ordered. I can't believe a brunch this bad has survived in a town with so many amazing restaurants. A friend recommended Pilgrim House for accommodation and I already had it in my top 3, so that clinched the deal. It's on Commercial (which we discovered later is really where you want to be) and it's set back a little, so it doesn't get street noise. What we didn't realize was that that they have a bar and restaurant so we didn't plan on doing anything but sleep at Pilgrim House. We also didn't know they have drag shows, so when our most amazing receptionist Eddie greeted us, he told us about it and we signed up. Omg! I haven't had so much fun since well before the pandemic!! I absolutely recommend it! Our room was clean, well appointed, smoke (and smell) free. There was only a little noise from the drag show but the last one finishes at about 10:30 then it's dead quiet. Being on Commercial made it a no brained for us to hop out for breakfast, coffee, shopping, or a drink. Very convenient. read more

Had a reservation for 2:45, spent $20 on nearby parking just to get turned away at the door. Host said they're closing at 3:00 to "convert to dinner". He turned away a large party ahead of us who had reservations at 2:30pm. By the time the host was able to help us it was 2:58 pm. Why take reservation if you're going to turn people away with some nonsense explanation. If that's a representation of the service at this place...NO THANKS! There are SO MANY other (better) restaurants in the area. In fact we are at "The Patio" now where they truly have THE BEST clam chowder, great service, where we got in with no wait ... For some reason the bartender did not want business at his empty bar. We were treated awful, especially when we mentioned we were going to the show. At $16-22 per cocktail, I would expect to be treated better. The other staff were more attentive and kinder than this bartender. He needs to find a different career. read more

Pilgrim House is in such an ideal location for access to all of Provincetown's offerings. It is set back off of Commercial Street and is located in the East End. You are surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants and art galleries. It is a lovely break from the high energy downtown area. We spent a long weekend in the 2 bedroom unit. The room was clean, spacious and had a king bed in one room and a queen in the other. This hotel is pet friendly (aside from select rooms including the 2 bedroom unit. The first floor has a cute bar and restaurant area with a showroom in the back that houses a variety of shows throughout the season. Staff was accommodating, friendly and made the staff even more enjoyable. read more

Amazing. We loved the calamari and the salad to start. We had amazing drinks that elevated the pre- meal atmosphere. The scallops were cooked to perfection and elevated our evening to the highest of expectations. The chowder was beyond the context of expectation. Coming from a New England expert, the texture and flavoring of the Chowder was beyond heaven. We will be back as many times as possible. Chef Christopher Thames is a step above the chefs we are used to in Boston. This person is high above the expectations of a vacation night out. This review is mostly about the "Inn" side of this business. We stayed in room 307 for 5 nights during Bear Week. Chris C. (review dtd 11/15/2012 quoted below) and I agree 100% on the biggest negative issue: "the lack of a public area for guests to hang out in. Since he entire downstairs is given over to a lounge and public spaces, there is no place to just hang out and read, have coffee, etc. There is a small upstairs lobby area and smaller function / overflow bar. Those need to be turned into space for paying hotel guests to hang out" We were allowed (and even encouraged) to hang out in the space IF (big "if") no other paying function is scheduled. There were 4 semi-comfortable chairs in the space and 2 user friendly 4 person tables. No place to "lounge"; i.e. put your feet up and lounge . All the chairs on 2nd floor balcony are hard and straight back. There is a comfy outdoor lounge area with comfy cushioned furniture on the 1st floor BUT (big "but") you can not take alcoholic drinks out there. (I am betting that is a legal, nonnegotiable, restriction.) Note: Room 307 has 2 straight back cane chairs and a wooden round table. That is why this shortcoming is important. Room 307 has a small refrigerator also (unlike Chris C.'s room). I was glad to see that. That saved the 1/2 of a huge pork chop I had left over from one meal. There is no microwave in the room or "make-your-own" coffee service tray. The breakfast is is no protein/high carbohydrate; which is typical inn fare. Only fruit I saw was grapefruit. I need protein to start my day right so that was a none starter for us. (Mostly) Good stuff: Friendly, helpful staff and owners. Everyone we came in contact with was 100% customer oriented. Location. Location. Location: Set back just enough off Commercial St to dim the noise. You can still people watch from 2nd floor balcony. Quiet rooms. No problem with noise even during Bear Week. It is about as close to the "heart" of the PTown action as you can get. Ideal if you are using the Ferry. Free parking for 3 of our 5 night stay. Moved to Private Parking for 2 days ($26 daily). Pets allowed (apparently). There were a few friendly pets in other rooms. Restaurant: The bartender and drinks are killer good. The food is excellent. We had a SPAM slider (with Kimchi) that was surprisingly excellent. Yes the portions are small-ish and the prices PTown high. Nevertheless, we will eat here when we come back to PTown even if we do not stay here. Summary: I would stay here again for a shorter stay (no more than 3 days). After hitting all the spots for 3 days you body wants to "lounge-out" but you don't want to be cooped up by 4 view-less room walls either. read more

We were so excited for a pre dinner cocktail at this hip vibe spot. It's very cool, very trendy. We were seated at a comfy bench lounge area next to a gorgeous fireplace. Service was helpful and friendly. The rest was downhill. The music is a bit loud but the playlist, awful. Katie Perry pop then Willie Nelson. Why not have some deep house playing softly to compliment this gorgeous spot. My partner's Manhattan was an epic fail; it tasted like watered down booze. My friends and I were looking for an oyster happy hour in town, and this was the one we ended up landing on after talking to the guy advertising outside. Once inside, we realized this is a hotel restaurant, which wasn't exactly the vibe we were looking for. However, we stuck around for the seafood and had an enjoyable albeit pricey light meal. We started off with oysters and cocktail shrimp, all of which were delicious. The shrimp were massive and perfectly cooked. The cocktail sauce was some of the spiciest I've ever had. I can handle a decent amount of heat, and I still felt like my mouth was on fire the entire time. Then we all shared a bunch of the appetizers, including the fried brussels sprouts, the fried calamari, the roasted beet salad, the crab cake, and the eggplant fries. The standout was the brussels sprouts, which were some of the best I've had. The combo of crispy onions, currants, and capers was addictive, and we were fighting over the last bits. The rest of the food was tasty but forgettable. Prices are definitely high compared to portion sizes. Our waiter was lovely, and the atmosphere is quiet, almost too quiet, as we were practically the only customers in the restaurant. All in all, it was a good meal, but I'm sure there are better dinner options in the city. read more

I can't believe I've never written a review of Sage before. I've been here several times over the last few years and must say that it's one of my favorite places in town. The lounge vibe is always inviting; the lighting is just right and the staff is super friendly. I usually get some kind of wonderful cocktail and appetizers to share. Last night I went with a scotch - neat - and the lobster sliders. The sliders were absolutely delicious. Perfect portion for a not too heavy meal and the flavors were spot on. They were served with a side of homemade potato chips that were delightful. Others at the table had flatbread pizzas, warm brie and the "tops and bottoms" appetizer (pita bread slices served with 3 different toppings: goat cheese, tapenade and hummus). For dessert, I couldn't resist the chocolate hazelnut concoction with mouse and ganache...our fabulous waiter talked me into it and I have no regrets. Always a great experience. read more

Ownership has changed & we had an old ( 2 years old ) 3rd party gift certificate that we had purchased, from a vendor the new owners are no longer associated with. The manager was so friendly, gracious & abundantly generous in welcoming us & even treating us to top notch cocktails & Wellfleet oysters . The service with Tony was excellent and the food is to die for ( we each had the seared halibut ). I can't say enough good things about this place. GREAT ! read more

They're burnt completely on both sides. I took a bite, it was bitter. I told the waitress that they're all burnt and and bitter. She then tried to convince me that this is how scallops supposed to be cooked. Haha. Are you serious? I told her it's bitter even then it's not burnt? This place treated us like we're idiots. My advice to anyone booking a show at the Pilgrim House is don't do it. There is a No Refund Policy. They do not post in their website or Thundertix.com about any kind of show refund policy. As a matter of fact, our local Provincetown Community website has a post from them that they have no intention of refunding during the Delta COVID outbreak. When I had to cancel because a child in my household was high risk for Delta-regardless of mask-wearing- I got a snippy "we don't do refunds" and when I asked why- I was told they would have someone call me back (crickets both times I called). The other reservations I had in Provincetown kindly Issued full refunds. I would have rebooked the show if the venue at least posted something - even at a loss. Now I will Never book Nor recommend. Owners are super friendly & informative - nice place with fun drag shows & bed and breakfast along with a bar & restaurant

Despite incredible performers, I really cannot recommend this restaurant. We attended a Sunday drag brunch in August 2021, and had called in advance to confirm that the restaurant could accomodate our group's dietary restrictions (2 vegetarians and 1 dairy allergy). They confirmed that they could since the brunch buffet had multiple options. Unfortunately, in the time between booking and attending, they switched from a buffet to a pre-made brunch box due to Covid concerns. While this switch was reasonable given the surge in cases, what was NOT reasonable was their inability to accomodate basic modifications. The base plate included fruit, eggs, Hawaiian fried rice, chicken wings, sausage, and French toast. We asked if plates could be brought without meat, and the server + chef initially told us no. It took us requesting a manager to be brought a scoop of just the fried rice (at the same $20.21 prix fixe price), despite us explaining the difference between vegetarian vs. vegan and assuring them we didn't need extra food - just a plate with the meat options removed, which they couldn't accomodate. Our friend with a dairy allergy was told everything was safe to eat, but the French toast almost certainly contained dairy. If you have any kind of allergies/restrictions (or want to be able to select your own food!), do not attend this establishment! While we loved the performers, the brunch was severely lackluster and the kitchen was clearly not trained in allergy preparedness. read more
