I'm Queen of the World!

Simply splendid. We took the pups, Mishka and Blanket, on an excursion to one of the top rated dog parks on the east coast. We arrived and were happy to see the covid restrictions in place. Masks for all dog park visitors, pick up your poop, etc. After a long minute of attempting to get the dogs to wear masks, we decided that only the humans will wear them. Luckily no person or dog was in the park when we arrived. We went to the large dog section, but were happy to see there was a small dog option. Some time those yip yip pups get trampled by the bigger dogs and you're always anxious to see them turn into a chew toy. Excited to see there was a lot of space for the dogs to run. To describe it simply, there's a pebble peninsula in the middle of the park and on the outside is sand. Our dogs seemed to prefer the sand purely to make our Airbnb sandier. Couple tennis balls to throw around so we played fetch before blanket decided she was a pirate. Pawsitively a great place to let the dogs loose for some fun. Well kept and maintained for a safe bully free dog zone. It was nice to get the dogs off the electronics for the day and get them some vitamin fun.

We went every day of our vacation. Huge open space safe for dogs and our experience was wonderful.

We loved being so close to a dog park but like some else said there was no grass. The stone was uncomfortable for our dog.

That's one of the advantages of walking a ton - you slow down and see things that have always been there but you've missed. Part of my intentional consciousness of really viewing my surroundings. The Meadow on The Cove is exactly what it sounds like - a giant meadow of wildflowers overlooking the Orleans Town Cove. Very pretty and worth checking out. Not much to do here but there are two clearings with park benches, so you can sit & rest and reflect or read in peace. There's a small parking area when you first go in (room for 5 cars) but I had the place to myself the entire time I was there. A lace like this is part of the charm of a small town like Orleans. And don't forget the bees! TONS of big, friendly, fuzzy black & yellow Bumble Bees taking full advantage of this massive field of Wildflowers. There's something very zen about watching them make their rounds. (Full disclosure: when I wrote 'black & yellow Bumble Bees' above, it made me think of the metal band Styper! And Michael Sweet, the lead singer of Stryper actually lives on the Cape. Yes, I know I'm a weirdo. But still, Stryper Rocks!)

Some people don't pick up after their dogs and I have picked up several including my own. The head guy in charge of the volunteers is very nice but he is quick with the air horn. My dog came down with some parasite and my vet asked if I frequented a dog park when I said yes they asked if it was clean I said some what. They advised to go on Fridays after the park is shut down for cleaning. I've been to the park like 10 times and had someone say something to me 8 of them. The park is easily a 4 star park if everyone would pick up after their dog and mind their own business. They have 2 parks one for small dogs no dogs over 30lbs and one for all dogs. There's a portable Jon on site for people, plenty of parking and the security is 5 star seeing it's right behind the police station. Because my 8 month old lab got a parasite from this park I probably won't be back.
