When Covid hit I was desperate to find new (and safe) ways to strengthen my body. I'm used to hitting a gym, running, boxing, surfing and skiing and so when a friend introduced me to Eddy I was willing to try it out, but I will admit, I was a bit skeptical - I thought I might be bored with such a stationary workout (I'm basically a 5 year old trapped in a 43 year old body). I was so so so pleasantly surprised! Not only do I find Eddy's Zoom Classes challenging - they have strengthened parts of my body I didn't know I even had! Eddy keeps me motivated and challenged - I have learned so much about how I should move and carry myself. I love his intense knowledge about the human body and I am grateful for his asides like "Sue - is your hip bothering you? Do this instead". He sees me and my capabilities and adapts his workouts to include people of all ages and capabilities while still encouraging everyone to push themselves. Above everything - he makes me laugh. Nearly every class we get a glimpse into his hilarious musings, or better yet - a Broadway song will bust out during a side kick series. Absolutely amazing. I have had lower back pain for over 10 years. I had pain in my hips and running down my legs. I had trouble getting up from a sitting or laying position and I was considering surgery. Eddy showed me exercises to do from home and worked on my neck and shoulders for about 20-30 minutes and I was hoping for some relief. My family has known Eddy for years! He is not only our trainer, but a close friend of ours too. I decided pilates would be the best form of exercise for me after I injured my back a few years ago. During my workouts with Eddy, if something ever hurts me or is too intense, he adjusts my positioning to make the exercise more comfortable. Eddy is great at listening to his clients and he always personalizes each session to ensure they get the most out of it. He pushes you to work hard, stay motivated, and to "engage those abs" during every workout, and it brings remarkable results to your body and overall health if you keep up with it. I have been doing Pileddys for over a year now. I can't say enough wonderful things about Eddy and The Studio. Eddy challenges me in my workouts, but also listens and responds to my concerns and what I'm looking for in an exercise, strengthening and flexibility session. Before COVID-19, I went twice a week to a Pilates studio in Decatur and really enjoyed the workout and how much stronger I felt. I stopped going when COVID shut down most businesses. When things started opening up again this year, I sought a more personal experience. I found it at Pileddys, a charming studio behind a private residence off LaVista Road. The owner, Eddy, creates workouts for his clients based on their goals and challenges. Once a week, I work out with another client who lives in the neighborhood. Once a week, I work privately with Eddy, who is helping me strengthen my balance, my core, and my posture. Now I'm back on the Pilates reformer with an instructor who notices when my tabletop is collapsing, when my abs aren't engaged, and when I really need to lengthen my spine for the full benefit of the move. His prices are fair, his expertise of Pilates and how the body works is top-notch, and his sense of humor keeps me grounded. I highly recommend working with Eddy at his studio. Doing Pilates with Eddy over the past eight months has been such a positive experience (something I never thought I'd say about a form of exercise!). I look forward to my weekly session because I always leave feeling stronger and more flexible. Eddy Rioseco has been my trainer for several years now, and at age 68, I've come to realize how much I need one. I feel very lucky indeed to have found him, and recommend him whole-heartedly and with no reservations whatever. Not only does Eddy know his stuff, backwards and forwards, but he's one of those people who always applies himself no matter how often he has "been there" or how much difficulty the client has absorbing what needs to be done. Eddy pays close attention to how you are responding to his instructions, and although gentle and patient in his manner, always urges you to do things better and always figures out how best to convey what it is that you need to do--drawing on his rich store of helpful metaphors. It was only in my '60s that I came to terms with the fact that I couldn't get away without exercising forever (I had a scary little accident while twisting to reach for something). I know how much more limber and strong and fit I have become--and intend, with Eddy's help, to continue to be! Eddy even discovered that I still had physical trauma from having been hit by a car a long time ago, when I mistakenly thought I had completely recovered from that accident. I've been working with Eddy for years-- he trains my dad and my sister as well. He's just the best. I have a herniated disk that makes some physical activity painful and taxing and he knows exactly which exercises work best for my body. I have awful self-discipline when it comes to working out, and I absolutely rely on him to maintain a healthy lifestyle. He's patient and kind with the greatest sense of humor-- our workouts seem more like hanging out than working out sometimes, but he'll never skimp on working me out. It's almost like a Jedi mind trick-- we'll carry on a conversation for a super long time and only afterwords will I realize that those lunges were absolutely killer. Pileddy's changed my life. I started taking private sessions a few years after being diagnosed with herniated discs, scoliosis and other back problems. I had already tried so many different types of physical therapy and exercise, and I felt very hopeless about living with intense back pain and limited mobility. Eddy's pilates sessions allowed me to build up my core strength and have drastically decreased my back pain and increased my mobility. Eddy is so knowledgeable and modified the exercises so I could work up my strength without injuring myself. I used to live defensively and avoid certain activities because of my back injuries, but I now can live a normal life again! I have fewer and fewer flare ups and so much less pain. I started taking Pilates because years of poor posture and endurance sports had left me an inflexible mess. Eddy has coached me to remarkable change. Eddy is fabulous! I feel very lucky to have met Eddy. I have been doing pilates off and on for years with various instructors and none of them compare to Eddy. Eddy knows the human body and knows exactly how to work through your problem areas in a nurturing manner. I am more flexible than I have ever been and my posture has improved (I have rounded shoulders). What I also like about Pileddys is that there isn't competition to find a room like in some of the crowded studios.
