My experience with Marla and her crew at Queen City Bikram is still in it's infancy, but I can tell…read moreyou that I have never felt so welcome and encouraged in a fitness atmosphere. I struggle, a real, true struggle, but the instructors and clients keep you going and encourage you to return to your mat. Sometimes I have to skip a posture (or maybe more) and there is no judgement, no ridicule; I really appreciate that I'm not being held to a standard or expectation, that I can come and be me and do what I am able. While I certainly spent my first few visits looking around thinking 'dang, how the hell... ummm my body can't twist like that' I quickly learned that everything comes with time and that letting your body move at it's own pace will yield truly amazing results. Lowering my expectation for instant results and just being in the moment has really been rewarding for my mind and body. I honestly feel like I might die every time I go, but lo and behold, I'm still standing and even better, I'm improving. I can see and I can feel it. The most notable thing about Queen City Bikram is truly how welcoming they are. The yoga world can be intimidating (yes, weird I know) and I have had a hefty handful of snobbery in my attempts to incorporate yoga into my ever-developing healthy lifestyle. I assure that if you have had similar experience, but long to put something new into your fitness mix that you should give Queen City Bikram a try. They have an awesome deal for new students $30 for 30 days and it is a great way for you to give it a try without investing a whole lot into it right off the bat. The studio is awesome, clean with a simplistic style. They have showers and a changing room that are available to use. You can also rent a mat if you forget, or don't have one. They offer a number of classes with at least one everyday, which makes it easy to work around a busy schedule. Also, once a month they do a black light class with a dj, I haven't made it to one yet, but it sure sounds like a blast! Need more encouragement? Check out their website, when I was gonna bail the website encouraged me to show up and gave me a burst of acceptance before I even walked in the door. Everyone has their first day... maybe it's your turn?

I have been hitting gyms in the Burlington area for almost 40 years. I have seen most come and go…read more You can see the downward spiral, gym is dirty, in disrepair and customers are leaving. Soon the doors will be closing. The owner of Synergy is fanatical about keeping the gym clean, equipment in fully operational condition. When you walk in there is a stack of ready disinfectant spray bottles and clean towels. Everyone is expected to wipe down the equipment after use. The customers come in steady but never had I had a time where I couldn't get a workout in. The ages and fitness level varies greatly, so if your a beginner you should never feel intimidated. There are trainers and if you need help you can ask any of us at the gym and we will gladly help. Becca M wrote about a gym goer that was harassing her. She gave a bad review of the gym for that. Did she address it with the owner? You can't slam the gym for what a customer does without giving the owner a chance to address it. There's always going to be some who do not respect others. But my over a year experience at Synergy I have never seen this. Most likely a Female or Male that is in good shape and showing it, others are working out to try to be like them. Hey if you work hard and look good, show it off because it isn't gonna last forever and your in a place that understands what it takes to get there!! Top of the line equipment, clean where you could do floor exercises anywhere and not get up filty. A friendly atmosphere and the classic radio station you can hear but not so loud you can't carry on a conversion with another members. I strongly suggest you give it a try.

I moved to Burlington area early this year and I have been looking for a gym. I like to exercise…read moreregularly and I was looking for a gym with a mix of free weights and machines. I found Synergy Fitness via web search so I thought I would give it a try despite some concerns. First thing I noticed right off the bat is how small the gym is. They had construction going on at one side of the gym and when I asked the girl at the front desk, she told me the area used to be part of the gym but their next door business took it from them. Which means the gym is getting even smaller. I was like ok, not a big deal at the moment. Last straw that made me decide to leave this place for good and write this review is a harassment from one of the gym goers. I was in the free weights area doing some squats and I noticed a nasty looking creature staring at me and pointing the backside of his phone toward me, most likely filming. I felt very uncomfortable with the amount of staring so I left the room and went to another room to continue my workout with dumbbells. A few minutes later, the same creature came to the room, took off his shirt and started to pose in front of the mirror and kept staring at me. I was completely freaked out at this point so I ended my workout and left the place. The nasty creature is a roided short male covered with long sleeve tattoos on both arms with skull pictures and women, side stomach big skull tattoo, and a big "USAF" tattoo on his chest. If you belong to the USAF or have been at one point in your life, you should live up to the title. What a creepy old man. I have never experienced that kind of behavior at any other gym places I used to go to. I felt gross after this experience. I don't recommend this "gym" to any young woman.
